Masonic Notes .

The election on Saturday last of Bro . Henry Smith , Dep . G . Master of West Yorkshire , as Treasurer oi the Institution for Girls , was in every way a good selection . It was a personal recognition of the services rendered to the Charities for a long series of

years , and a fitting compliment to the great province he represents . The honour was unsought , and , indeed , came as a surprise to Bro . Smith , and we believe if he had been consulted in the matter he would have sincerely desired that the then occupant of the office

should have remained , but it was thought that , notwithstanding the splendid services of Bro . Horace Brooks Marshall for so many years , it was desirable , in pursuance of the custom in practice in Grand and Provincial Grand Lodges , that the personality should be changed now and again .

lt is fitting in this connection to accord to Bro . Marshall on his retirement the thanks of all supporters of the Institution for the many sacrifices he has made

in its behalf , and for the truly philanthropic way in which he has so often used the large numbers of votes at his command to ensure the success of final applications which would otherwise have been shut out from the benefits of the Institution .

Masonic Notes .

The election on Saturday last of Bro . Henry Smith , Dep . G . Master of West Yorkshire , as Treasurer oi the Institution for Girls , was in every way a good selection . It was a personal recognition of the services rendered to the Charities for a long series of

years , and a fitting compliment to the great province he represents . The honour was unsought , and , indeed , came as a surprise to Bro . Smith , and we believe if he had been consulted in the matter he would have sincerely desired that the then occupant of the office

should have remained , but it was thought that , notwithstanding the splendid services of Bro . Horace Brooks Marshall for so many years , it was desirable , in pursuance of the custom in practice in Grand and Provincial Grand Lodges , that the personality should be changed now and again .

lt is fitting in this connection to accord to Bro . Marshall on his retirement the thanks of all supporters of the Institution for the many sacrifices he has made

in its behalf , and for the truly philanthropic way in which he has so often used the large numbers of votes at his command to ensure the success of final applications which would otherwise have been shut out from the benefits of the Institution .
