seconded , that Bro . Cox , S . W ., be elected W . M . for the next meeting , which was carried unanimously . The W . M . presented to the Preceptor , Bro . J esse Coliings , on behalf of the members who belonged to the Royal Commemoration Lodge , a very handsome silver-mounted walking stick

in token of their recognition of his efforts on their behalf . Bro . Coliings returned thanks in a neat and telling speech . A vote of thanks was passed to the VV . M . for the creditable manner in which he had performed the duties of the chair for the first time in this or any other lodge of instruction . The lodge was then closed .

At the close of the business the fratres adjourned to the banquet hall , and partook of a cold collation , at the invitation of the newly-installed Preceptor , who presided , and in the course of the evening opened a conversation as to the best means for promoting the interests of Templary generally and those of the Royal Sussex Preceptory in

particular . The E . P . reviewed in a few succinct remarks the history of the Royal Sussex Preceptory , and the constitutional changes made in the Order some 17 years since , and , in inviting the expression of the views of the sir knights , he assured them that his best efforts would be devoted to making the year one of the most successful in the history

of the Royal Sussex Preceptory . Fratres Frost , Lane , Clemens , Aitken Davies , and Stocker continued the conversation , when it was thought of making Torquay its head-quarters , where is located the very active R . A . Chapter of St . John , No . 32 S , with chapters at Newton , Paignton , and the early prospect of the revival of the dormant chapter at Brixham , there would

be a wide area for the extension of the preceptory , and Torquay being in the centre of these chapters it would prove beneficial . Its progress would also depend upon the zeal of the present members . Several distinguished sir knights of the province were prevented from attending , having to proceed to London to be present at a special meeting of the Convent General .

At the close of the business the fratres adjourned to the banquet hall , and partook of a cold collation , at the invitation of the newly-installed Preceptor , who presided , and in the course of the evening opened a conversation as to the best means for promoting the interests of Templary generally and those of the Royal Sussex Preceptory in

particular . The E . P . reviewed in a few succinct remarks the history of the Royal Sussex Preceptory , and the constitutional changes made in the Order some 17 years since , and , in inviting the expression of the views of the sir knights , he assured them that his best efforts would be devoted to making the year one of the most successful in the history

of the Royal Sussex Preceptory . Fratres Frost , Lane , Clemens , Aitken Davies , and Stocker continued the conversation , when it was thought of making Torquay its head-quarters , where is located the very active R . A . Chapter of St . John , No . 32 S , with chapters at Newton , Paignton , and the early prospect of the revival of the dormant chapter at Brixham , there would

be a wide area for the extension of the preceptory , and Torquay being in the centre of these chapters it would prove beneficial . Its progress would also depend upon the zeal of the present members . Several distinguished sir knights of the province were prevented from attending , having to proceed to London to be present at a special meeting of the Convent General .
