brethren adjourned to the hall below , where an excellent banquet was served by Mr . Pearce , the steward of the Freemasons' Club . The W . M . presided , and was supported by a number of Provincial Officers and Installed Masters . A long list of Masonic toasts were heartily received by the company , the speeches being agreeably interspersed with

songs by Bros . G . South , F . Sanders , P . M ., and others , sung to accompaniments by Bro . Thomas Hunter . "The Health of the new W . M . " was proposed by Bro . Woodrow , I . P . M ., who referred in the highest terms to the zeal displayed by Bro . Wickens in filling all the minor offices of the lodge until he had attained the highest honour his brethren could confer upon him . The selection of Bro .

Wickens for the chair of K . S . was fully justified by his punctuality and ability , and he ( the speaker ) was sure he would not only do credit to the lodge , but advance the interests of Freemasonry in general . The Worshipful Master , in responding , undertook to do

his best to discharge the important duties with which he had been entrusted to the best of his ability , and said he was sure he should receive hearty and loyal assistance at the hands of his officers . The Tyler's toast brought the proceedings to a close shortly before midnight .

RHYMNEY . St . David ' s Lodge ( No . 2226 ) . —The installation meeting in connection with the above lodge was celebrated at the St . Mathew ' s School Church—kindly lent for the occasion—on Thursday , the 17 th ult . There was a very large attendance of brethren . In the unavoidable absence of Bro . R . W . Jones , W . M ., Bro . Amos , Folkes , Walklin , and Walster , and the raising of Bros .

Valon , Carter , and Punter , but it was got through , and splendidly , by the W . M and his officers . Bro . C Jolly , who had at the previous meeting been unanimously elected an honorary member , than returned thanks , and assured the W . M . and brethren of his appreciation of the great honour done him . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren subsequently

dined together . The usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts having been honoured , The I . P . M ., Bro . Miller , proposed the toast of "The W . M ., " saying he felt sure they were all proud of Bro . Webber , and congratulated him upon being supported by such an array of the brethren as were present .

Bro . Webber , in responding , said he had tried to please the brethren and carry out the ritual to the best of his ability . He had had a pleasant and good year of office . They stood second to none to any lodge in the district , and he trusted it would continue the same during his year of office , and also to those who followed him . Bros . Davis and Crook responded for " The Visitors , "

and Bros . Miller and Butt for " The Past Masters . " Bro . Roberts , in responding to the toast of " The Health of the Treasurer , " said he was the first Steward of that lodge that ever stood for the Charities . He took up ^ 122 for the Girls and £ 90 for the Old People , and he hoped that a Steward would go up from that lodge every year for one of the Charities .

Bro . Warren , in responding for "The Secretary , " said he felt sure that he would have been let off from making a speech that night . Nevertheless , it had given him an opportunity of speaking of his Stewardship for the Boys at the forthcoming Festival , and he was proud to be able to tell them that he should be enabled to take up over £ 200 , a larger sum than ever was yet taken up by a Steward from that district . He thanked the Pattison and the Union

Waterloo Lodges for their gift of 10 guineas each ; their own lodge for 20 guineas , also for the 10 guineas voted to himself . Then there was five guineas from the Nelson Lodge of Instruction , while almost every brother of the lodge had contributed handsomely . He concluded by congratulating the W . M . upon the admirable manner in which he had worked the ritual of the Three Degrees that night . Several other toasts followed , and the whole of the proceedings were most enjoyable .

Carnarvon Chapter ( No . 1572 ) . —This chapter held a convocation on the 26 th ult ., at the Albion , Aldersgate-street . ^ Present : Comp . Avery , presiding , with Comps . Briggs , P . Z . ; Russell , P . Z . ; Pearce , P . Z . ; Whitaker , P . Z . ; Nelson Reid , P . Z . ; and Goffin , P . Z ., W . M . 2030 . Among other visitors was

Comp . Shand , P . Z . 25 , Sec . 2030 . After the ceremony of exaltation , which was performed in the same excellent manner for which the Carnarvon Chapter is celebrated , the companions dined together . After dinner , the usual toasts were submitted , "The Health of the M . E . Z . " being given by Comp . Russell

P . Z . "The Visitors" were toasted , and responded to severally . The excellent music added to the enjoyment of the companions , and altogether a very happy and pleasant evening was enjoyed by all .

St . Dunstan ' s Chapter ( No . 1589 ) . —This chapter met at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street , on the 22 nd ult . Among those present were Comps . Capt . Walls , P . P . G . P . S . Middlesex , P . Z ., S . E ., acting M . E . Z . ; Farthing , H . ; J . H . Dodson , P . Z ., acting J . ; F . Farrington , P . Z ., Treas . ; H . Clemow , P . S . ; Gilbert , Janitor ; R . Skelton , and others .

1 he minutes of the previous convocation were read and confirmed . Apologies for non-attendance were received from Comps . VV . E . Farrington , M . E . Z . ; T . A . Wooderidge , J . elect ; W . Lake , P . Z ., P . P . G . R . Cornwall ; and others . The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to the banquet , which was well served under the supervision of Comp . A . the Mark Masters of 213 . There is no Degree in Masonry that our brother had taken such an interest in as the Mark , and it was his intention to represent this province at the next _ Festival . Bro . Gaff ney heartily supported the motion , and it was unanimously agreed to . Bro . Dalrymple gave notice that five guineas be voted from the funds of the lodge on behalf of Bro . Anderson's Stewardship to the Grand Mark Benevolent Fund . With other general business the Iodge was closed .

A long list of Masonic toasts were heartily received by the company , the speeches being agreeably interspersed with

songs by Bros . G . South , F . Sanders , P . M ., and others , sung to accompaniments by Bro . Thomas Hunter . "The Health of the new W . M . " was proposed by Bro . Woodrow , I . P . M ., who referred in the highest terms to the zeal displayed by Bro . Wickens in filling all the minor offices of the lodge until he had attained the highest honour his brethren could confer upon him . The selection of Bro .

Wickens for the chair of K . S . was fully justified by his punctuality and ability , and he ( the speaker ) was sure he would not only do credit to the lodge , but advance the interests of Freemasonry in general . The Worshipful Master , in responding , undertook to do

his best to discharge the important duties with which he had been entrusted to the best of his ability , and said he was sure he should receive hearty and loyal assistance at the hands of his officers . The Tyler's toast brought the proceedings to a close shortly before midnight .

C Jolly , who had at the previous meeting been unanimously elected an honorary member , than returned thanks , and assured the W . M . and brethren of his appreciation of the great honour done him . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren subsequently

dined together . The usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts having been honoured , The I . P . M ., Bro . Miller , proposed the toast of "The W . M ., " saying he felt sure they were all proud of Bro . Webber , and congratulated him upon being supported by such an array of the brethren as were present .

Bro . Webber , in responding , said he had tried to please the brethren and carry out the ritual to the best of his ability . He had had a pleasant and good year of office . They stood second to none to any lodge in the district , and he trusted it would continue the same during his year of office , and also to those who followed him . Bros . Davis and Crook responded for " The Visitors , "

and Bros . Miller and Butt for " The Past Masters . " Bro . Roberts , in responding to the toast of " The Health of the Treasurer , " said he was the first Steward of that lodge that ever stood for the Charities . He took up ^ 122 for the Girls and £ 90 for the Old People , and he hoped that a Steward would go up from that lodge every year for one of the Charities .

Bro . Warren , in responding for "The Secretary , " said he felt sure that he would have been let off from making a speech that night . Nevertheless , it had given him an opportunity of speaking of his Stewardship for the Boys at the forthcoming Festival , and he was proud to be able to tell them that he should be enabled to take up over £ 200 , a larger sum than ever was yet taken up by a Steward from that district . He thanked the Pattison and the Union

Waterloo Lodges for their gift of 10 guineas each ; their own lodge for 20 guineas , also for the 10 guineas voted to himself . Then there was five guineas from the Nelson Lodge of Instruction , while almost every brother of the lodge had contributed handsomely . He concluded by congratulating the W . M . upon the admirable manner in which he had worked the ritual of the Three Degrees that night . Several other toasts followed , and the whole of the proceedings were most enjoyable .
