THE HAMER BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION .

The 16 th annual report of the West Lancashire Hamer Benevolent Institution for Aged and Distressed Freemasons has just been issued . The Committee say : — " We have pleasure in stating that there has been a considerable increase in the amount subscribed to this

Charity during the year . The total receipts amounted to ^ 507 9 s . iod ., as against ^ 274 13 s . gd . last year , but the receipts are still below the previous year . The subscriptions and donations have reached the sum of ^ 377 7 s . 6 d ., compared with ^ 181 17 s . 2 d . in the last report . We are pleased to be able to record this

additional support from lodges and chapters and individual subscribers , the more especially as applications for the benefits of the Institution , both in the case of annuitants and also the casual application for specific grants , as provided for in the by-laws , have increased . During the past year just closed a thorough revision of the

voting power from the foundation of the Institution has been completed , and the grateful thanks of all interested in this Charity are due to the Auditors for the untiring zeal displayed by them in assisting your present officers in this desirable work . In conclusion , we desire to state that the new by-laws before referred to are

working very satisfactorily ; and again we desire , on behalf of the Institution , as well as on our own behalf , to thank those who have assisted us during the past year , and trust that those lodges , chapters , and members of the Craft who are not represented in the present report will take care that in the next issue they will be .
