Edwin Carter , being supported by his officers , several Past Masters , members of the lodee , and visitors . The minutes of the last regular lodge having been confirmed , the W . M ., assisted by Bro . Dr . F . S . Grimshaw , conducted a passing and the raising of two brethren . Amongst other business Bro . Innes , P . M ., was thanked for his services as Steward at the Girls' School Festivaland .
, in responding , spoke of the excellent work the Masonic Schools were doing . In accordance with notice , the W . M . moved the following- resolution : "That the lodge desires to offer hearty congratulations to W . Bro . Todd , P . M ., Treas ., P . G . T ., on his appointment as Grand Standard Bearer of England , and that in consideration of the efficient and valuable services rendered to this lodge by Bro . Todd during a period of 30 years , Grand Lodge clothing be purchased out of the funds of the lodge and presented to
dim . " In doing so , the W . M . commented on the great services rendered by Bro . Todd to Masonry generally , and that lodge in particular , and felt sure the vote would be unanimous . Bro . A . This , the W . M . said , was most gratifying to him and every member of the lodge , and he heartily congratulated Bro . Cumberland on the well-deserved honour that had been bestowed upon him , and he called upon all present to salute him with Grand honours , which were given with much animation . Bro . Wo id , P . M ., here interposed , and said that the members of No . 212 S were so pleased about the honour conferred on Bro . Cumberland that they had joined together to show their regard for him , and he asked the W . M . to present to Bro . Cumberland his Grand Lodge clothing on their behalf .
The W . M . said he was only too pleased to be the medium of handing to Bro . Cumberland this token of the esteem in which he was held by the brethren of 212 S , for whom he had done so much . He was the father of the lodge , being its first W . M ., and he wished him long life to wear the beautiful clothing now handed to him . Bro . Cumberland said his heart was too full to give utterance to what he felt , and asked all present not to measure his gratitude by the fewness of his words . £ 10 10 s . was voted to Mrs . The lodge ( which was draped in mourning in consequence of the recent and sudden death of two Past Masters of the lodge , Bro . Wm . Masters , P . M ., P . G . The ballot was then taken for Messrs . Joseph Parkinson , Henry Thomas Town , and Charles Stephen Ayling , and proved unanimous . Mr . Parkinson was unable to be present , but Messrs . Town and Ayling were initiated by the W . M ., who , in this ceremony , as well as in the passing of Bro . T . G . Newton , was perfect in his working . Bro . G . M . Webb was raised to the Third Djgree by the I . P . M ., Bro . Lee , who assumed the chair for that
purpose ; it is needless to say that the rendering of the ritual was faultless . The VV . M . appointed Bro . VV . H . Bullock , P . M . 212 S and 2432 , D . C , as Sec , in the place of Bro . Masters , deceased , and he was duly invested . Bro . Bullock was Secretary of the lodge some years ago . The VV . M . then appointed and invested Brs . J . S . Cumberland , P . M ., as D . of C , to succeed Bro . Bullock , who had been appointed Secretary , and in doing so said that no doubt the brethren were aware that the M . W . G . M . had conferred Grand honours ] on Bro . Cumberland , he having been appointed Deputy Grand Sword Bearer .
This , the W . M . said , was most gratifying to him and every member of the lodge , and he heartily congratulated Bro . Cumberland on the well-deserved honour that had been bestowed upon him , and he called upon all present to salute him with Grand honours , which were given with much animation . Bro . Wo id , P . M ., here interposed , and said that the members of No . 212 S were so pleased about the honour conferred on Bro . Cumberland that they had joined together to show their regard for him , and he asked the W . M . to present to Bro . Cumberland his Grand Lodge clothing on their behalf .
The W . M . said he was only too pleased to be the medium of handing to Bro . Cumberland this token of the esteem in which he was held by the brethren of 212 S , for whom he had done so much . He was the father of the lodge , being its first W . M ., and he wished him long life to wear the beautiful clothing now handed to him . Bro . Cumberland said his heart was too full to give utterance to what he felt , and asked all present not to measure his gratitude by the fewness of his words . £ 10 10 s . was voted to Mrs . Masters' list for the Boys' Festival in July . Lodge was then closed , and there was no banquet .
