After the usual loyal and Alasonic toasts had been duly honoured , "The Health of the Newly-installed Master " was proposed in suitable terms . Bro . the Marquis of Granby , in reply , expressed his thanks for the great honour he felt had been conferred upon

him , stating his desire to promote the interests of the Craft , and his intention to attend and carry out the duties of that lodge in which he took an especial interest , his family having been bound up with the Craft generally in that province and that lodge in particular for many years . Alter alluding to the great pleasure he felt at being placed in such a responsible position , and the gratification for the

honour done him , he stated Ins intention of trying to act up to the great and worthy objects inculcated in the various charges to vvhich he had listened . The toast of "The Installing Master" was responded to by Bro . Partridge , D . P . G . M ., who expressed the satisfaction he felt in being permitted to install such an esteemed and highly respected nobleman of the county , and looked

upon that gathering as an augury of success for the coming year , confidently anticipating a substantial increase in numbers and prosperity . W ., the latter of whom alluded to his being one of the founders of the lodge ( along

vvith the worthy host , Bro . Selby ) , and to the happy choice of its name , having regard to the present W . AL being an honoured member of the Manners family . The toasf of "The Visitors" vvas responded to by Bro . E . Holmes , W . M . 279 , who acknowledged the special pleasure he felt as a native of Alelton in responding in that lodge .

PLUMSTEAD . Pattison Lodge ( No . 913 ) . —Upwards of 100 of the members of the above lodge and visitors from other lodges attended its meeting on Thursday , the 5 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall , Alount Pleasant , to meet the esteemed VV . AL , Bro . VV . Busbridge , and assist him in carrying out his heavy night ' s work . The Iodize havim * been ooened .

and the minutes confirmed , the ballot vvas taken for ttve Rev , Canon Scott , the Rev . Green , and Messrs . Denton and Oxley , and proving unanimous , the candidates present vvere initiated . There vvas a full choir , the cultivated and trained singing of which added immensely to the solemnity of the occasion . A candidate vvas then passed , and after certain other lodge business had been transacted , the lodge vvas

closed , and the brethren adjourned to banquet . The usual loyal and Alasonic toasts followed . Bro . Penfold , P . AL , responded for the toast of "Earl Amherst , P . G . M . ; Bro . Eastes , D . P . G . M . j and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " and in so doing spoke of the strength of the province with its Co lodges , and of the wonderful progress it had made durinsr

the 2 S years his lordship had ruled over it , and assured the brethren that every officer felt it a pleasure , an honour , and a privilege to serve under such genial gentlemen and excellent Alasons as Iiarl Amherst and Bro . Eastes . Bro . Col . E . Hughes , ALP ., LP . AL , proposed the toast of "The W . AL , " and spoke highly of Bro . Busbcidge ' s splendid working since he had filled the chair . Such success

could only be achieved by constant study , and he felt sure that under their Worshipful Alaster ' s gavel they would have a prosperous and memorable year . The VVorshipful Alaster heartily appreciated the kind reception of the toast by the brethren , for it was very cheering to find that one's efforts to give satisfaction vvere recognised . He vvas aware of the ereat resoonsibilitv

attached to the high office he held , and desired above all things to promote harmony and good feeling in the lodge . He especially urged the brethren to attend at the next meeting , which would be a most interesting one , the object oi which he would not then mention . The other toasts were "Thc Visitors , " "The Initiates , " I he Past Alasters , " and " The Officers . " The singing

The lodge , which vvas draped in black , in consequence of the death of H . R . H . the Duke of Clarence and Avondale , was opened , and Bro . C . A . Newnham , P . G . T ., after enumerating the names of many brethren who had lately died in the Province of Staffordshire , adverted to the sudden and unexpected death of the Provincial Grand Master , who , only at their last meeting had been amongst them as

a visitor , full of life and health . He then proposed a resolution to the following effect , which vvas passed unanimously : " The W . AL , officers , and brethren ot St . Peter ' s Lodge , No . 419 , most deeply regret the great loss the Province of Staffordshire has sustained by the death of the Right Worthy Provincial Grand Master , Colonel Foster Gough , LL . D . They beg to record their high appreciation of his

earnestness and zeal in the cause and progress of Freemasonry , and offer their condolence to his relatives in their great and sudden bereavement . " It vvas afterwards decided to send a floral tribute to the funeral of the late P . G . M ., and also that the brethren should meet at the Star and Garter , to receive the other brethren of the province previous to joining in the funeral procession . The lodge vvas then closed .

After the usual loyal and Alasonic toasts had been duly honoured , "The Health of the Newly-installed Master " was proposed in suitable terms . Bro . the Marquis of Granby , in reply , expressed his thanks for the great honour he felt had been conferred upon

him , stating his desire to promote the interests of the Craft , and his intention to attend and carry out the duties of that lodge in which he took an especial interest , his family having been bound up with the Craft generally in that province and that lodge in particular for many years . Alter alluding to the great pleasure he felt at being placed in such a responsible position , and the gratification for the

honour done him , he stated Ins intention of trying to act up to the great and worthy objects inculcated in the various charges to vvhich he had listened . Pattison Lodge ( No . 913 ) . —Upwards of 100 of the members of the above lodge and visitors from other lodges attended its meeting on Thursday , the 5 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall , Alount Pleasant , to meet the esteemed VV . The lodge , which vvas draped in black , in consequence of the death of H . R . H . the Duke of Clarence and Avondale , was opened , and Bro . C . A . Newnham , P . G . T ., after enumerating the names of many brethren who had lately died in the Province of Staffordshire , adverted to the sudden and unexpected death of the Provincial Grand Master , who , only at their last meeting had been amongst them as

a visitor , full of life and health . He then proposed a resolution to the following effect , which vvas passed unanimously : " The W . AL , officers , and brethren ot St . Peter ' s Lodge , No . 419 , most deeply regret the great loss the Province of Staffordshire has sustained by the death of the Right Worthy Provincial Grand Master , Colonel Foster Gough , LL . D . They beg to record their high appreciation of his

earnestness and zeal in the cause and progress of Freemasonry , and offer their condolence to his relatives in their great and sudden bereavement . " It vvas afterwards decided to send a floral tribute to the funeral of the late P . G .
