CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS . —The warehouse excursion to Scotland , for 6 , S , or 16 days , has again been arranged by the East Coast route , and a special express will leave King's Cross ( G . annual meeting of the directors of the London Missionary Society , on tbe 1 ith instant , it was stated that a legacy of a quarter of a million had been bequeathed to the Society , under the will of the late Mr . Robert Arthington , of Leeds , who had expressed the wish that the money should be devoted to new work in connection -with tribes and peoples who had not obtained a version of the Bible in their own tongue . The money will provide an income of ^ 7000 or ^ Sooo per year .

THE FREEMASONS' CLUB ( RICHMOND , SURREY ) , LIMITED , —As many brethren desire Ihe club to be available during the Christmas holidays , the directors have decided to open the premises to-morrow ( Saturday ) , 15 th inst ., at four p . m ., when the chairman will be pleased to welcome the members ( the formal inauguration being deferred until some time in January next , of which due notice will be given . ) The directors

have much pleasure in stating that 232 brethren have applied for membership , and that 1544 . £ 1 shares have been allotted . The room was gaily decorated with bunting , and the special feature of the programme was the " Men of Kent Quadrille . " In the course of the evening , the chairman of the council , Mr . Walter Kemp , presented one of the M , Cs . ( Mr . J . T . Hearn ) with a badge for
