a P . E . P . ot the Stuart Preceptory ( K . T . ) , Watford , P . M . of the Watford Mark Lodge , No . 241 , and Past Prov . G . M . O ., and , finally , he was a Life Subscriber of the Girls' School , and Life Governor of the Boys' and Benevolent Institutions , and had served once as Steward for each of the two Schools and seven times for the Old People .

Thomas George Doughty , who passed away , at the early age of 49 years , on the 30 th ult ., and was buried on the 4 th instant at Norwood Cemetery . The chief mourners were his two sons , Vernon and Harold ; his brother , Bro . Arthur Charles Doughty , P . M . 12 S 7 : his

brother-in-law , Mr . Fred . Rose ; and Dr . Sc ott Gibson , his medical attendant . Among a number of Masonic and other friends we observed at the Cemetery Bros . C . Davis , P . M . ; T . Steer , S * W . ;' F . Bascombe , S . D . ; C . Hinshelwood , A . Hutchinson , and W . Cleghorn , P . M ., Secretary , members cf the Great Northern Lodge , No . 1287 ; while Comps . H . Garrod , P . A . G . D . C , and S . Southwell , P . Z ., represented the William Preston Chapter , No . 7 66 , of which the deceased was First Principal at the time of his death . Also B ros . H . H . Nuding ,

P . M . 1924 ; W . Pound , P . M . 19 ; W . Vaughan , J . W . 1329 ; G . Knox , P . M . 145 C . Wheeler , 1329 ; F . G . Flewett , 1194 ; E . A . Lavender , 2345 ; and A . Flint 1697 , A large number of wreaths were placed on the collin , including one from the Great Northern Lodge . The late Bro . Doughty was initiated in the Great Northern Lodge in November , 1882 , and served the office of W . M . in the year 1898 . He was exalted in the William Preston Chapter in May , 1893 , and was installed in the First Principal ' s chair in May last . His fine , manly presence ,

vigorous and cheerful temperament , and kind disposition will long be remembered by the members of his lodge and chapter , who were proud of him , and very sincerely mourn his premature death . The Upper Norwood Athenieum Society , of which he was a former vice-president , sent a wreath , and many members , including Mr . J . Downes , the secretary , and Bro C . Wheeler , the treasurer , were present at the funeral . As the cortege passed the Norwood Constitutional Club the blinds were drawn , and the large Union Jack was hoisted half-mast high as a mark of respect to the deceased .

BRO . G . P . FESTA , P . M ., P . Z . We regret to announce the death , on the Sth instant , of Bro . Giovanni Paolo Festa , who was a P . M . of the Montagu Guest Lodge , No . 1900 , P . Z . of the chapter attached to it , and in the Mark Degree P . M . of the Thistle Lodge , No . 8 ; and Past A . G . D . C . of Grand Lodge . Bro . Festa had done good service for our Charitable Institutions , was a Vice-Patron of the Boys' School , and Vice-President ot the Girls' and Benevolent Institutions , and had served as Steward at some 14 or 15 of their . Festivals .

BRO . ROBERT ROBERTS , P . M ., P . P . G . D . N . WALES . On Saturday , the ist instant , the funeral took place at Bangor of Bro . Robert Roberts , the ex-postmaster of Bangor , the interment being at the Glanadda Cemetery . The deceased , who was a P . M . of the St . David ' s Lodge , No . 384 , and also a P . P . J . G . D ., was accorded Masonic rites at the graveside . The body was first removed from the deceased ' s late residence to the Cathedral . The

principal mourners were Miss Roberts ( daughter ) , Mrs . Jones ( sister ) , Mr . Wm . Roberts , of Liverpool , and Mr . Ellis-Roberts , of Birkenhead ( brothers ) , Dr . Roberts , Bootle ( nephew ) , who were accompanied by several members of their families . The preliminary service in the Cathedral was conducted by the Bishop of Bangor ( the deceased having been for many years a lay clerk in the Cathedral ) . The fate Bro . R . Roberts was the Treasurer ol the St . David's Lodge , No . - ? 8 J ,

and it was in compliance with his special wish that the said lodge decided to attend the funeral , and to arrange and carry through the Masonic part of the sad ceremonial , and , of the brethren present , some 50 or so were members of St . David ' s , the mother lodge of the province . Among those present were , in addition to the members of St . David's , Bros . Walter Jones , W . M . 1113- R . G .

M . 1849 , Cathedral organist , the sub-organist ( Mr . Martin ) presided at the organ , and played the Dead March . The Lord Bishop , preaching at the Cathedral on Sunday morning , made a touching reference to the deceased ; and at the Welsh

service in the evening the Cathedral organist ( Bro . 1 . Westlake-Morgan ) played the Dead March ( Handel ) . Wreaths were sent by the following : Miss Roberts , Mr . and Misses Roberts , Liverpool ; Mrs . H . Pritchard , Portdinorwic ; Mrs , Scotland ; organist and lay clerks of Bangor Cathedral ; the St . David's Lodge , No . 384 ; Mrs . Humphrey Williams and family , Friars-terrace ; Mr . George Williams , Rydal Mount ; and Messrs . W . McKenzie and J . B . Williams , Highstreet .

FUNERAL OF THE LATE BRO . HENRY RUSSELL . The funeral of the late Bro . Henry Russell , the composer of " Cheer , boys cheer , " and other popular songs , took place on Monday at Kensal Green Cemetery . The funeral cortege left the deceased ' s residence , 12 , Howley-place , Maida Vale , shortly after 10 o ' clock , and arrived at the cemetery about half-an-hour later . A short service was held in the cematery church , the Rev . Henry Lloyd Russell ( rector of the Church of Annunciation , Christchurch ) officiating . The

chief mourners included Mr . H . Russell , Mr . L . Ronald Russell , and Mr . C . Russell ( sons ) , and Mr . H . Russell and Mr . Cooper ( grandsons ) , and about 100 people followed the coffin to the grave . The coffin , which was of oak , with brass furniture , was covered with floral tributes , including a pillow of chrysanthemums with the line " England , farewell , farewell for ever , " from " Cheer , Boys , Cheer , " sent by Mrs . Henry Russell , and ahandsome wreath of violets , yvith the inscription " In loving remembrance , from Sir Henry Irving . "

The annual meeting of the above Provincial Priory was held at the Masonic Temple , Canterbury , on Monday , the 26 th ult ., under the presidency of the Prov . Sub-Prior , Sir Knight Horatio Ward . The Sub-Prior entered under the arch of steel , and opened the Provincial Priory in full form .

The minutes having been confirmed , and the Prov . Treasurer ' s accounts approved and adopted , The PROV . SUB-PRIOR explained that the Prov . Prior , the Right Hon . the Earl of Onslow , G . C . M . G ., K . C . T ., 8-rc , was unavoidably prevented from attending owing to his duties at the Colonial Office , and had requested him to preside in his place , and retain the office of Prov . Sub-Prior , which he had cemented to do .

The minutes of the previous convocation were read and confirmed . The ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . W . Smith personating the candidate . Comp . Hy . Cornford , H ., was elected M . E . Z . for to-day ( Friday ) . Comp . Wm . Smith , P . S . 72 , was elected a joining member . " Hearty good wishes " were tendered , and also hearty congratulations to Comp . Wm . Dawson , P .
