He was initiated in the Friends-in-Council LodgeNo . 1383 in 1891 and was in

John Purrott , whd , during the 26 years that have since elapsed , had devoted himself , heart and soul , to the advancement of Masonry , and , in so doing , won the love and respect of all Hertfordshire Masons from Bro . But more especially did our Institutions secure his services , and in addition to having acted many times as Steward for each of our Schools and for the Benevolent Institution , he was Patron of them all . Sir Alfred was a Governor of St . Thomas ' s and the Foundling Hospitals , and was generally well known and esteemed for his ardour in the cause of philanthropy .

Halsey , M . P ., on the 29 th April , 18 74 , a few days after he had been installed Prov . G * . Master of Hertfordshire , and among the very earliest of its initiates was the worthy brother who passed away on the 9 th instant , Bro . John Purrott , whd , during the 26 years that have since elapsed , had devoted himself , heart and soul , to the advancement of Masonry , and , in so doing , won the love and respect of all Hertfordshire Masons from Bro .
