To Wor . Bro . W . R . Blair , P . M ., P . P . S . G . W . Staffs . The Worshipful Master , Wardens , and Brethren of the Etruscan Lodge , desire to express their regret at your retirement from the post of Treasurer of the Lodge , which

you have held for a continuous period of seventeen years . They take the opportunity of expressing their appreciation of your long and honourable services both to the Lodge and the Craft generally , and of their hope that your example may be handed down as an encouragement to the junior members of the Lodge . They further hope that you will continue for many years in active membership of the

Lodge , of which you are now the oldest subscribing member , and wish you every happiness and prosperity which your long career of usefulness , both as a Mason and a citiEen so well deserve . Signed on behalf of the Brethren at a Lodge held on the 9 th day of May , 18 95 , GEO . E . WALTERS , W . M . ; WILLIAM BRICKEL , S . W . ; J . W . BROMLEY , J . W . ; ARTHUR L . HARDER , Sec . " In making the

presentation—Bro . PRINCE said he trusted that the address would be accepted in the same spirit that had prompted the brethren to give it , for the brethren entertained towards him the most kindly fraternal feeling of brotherly love and respect . His urbanity and courtesy towards his fellow men had always been marked , and had gained for him the esteem and goodwill of every true-hearted man who knew him . During the long period Bro . Blair had been Treasurer , the accounts had alway . . been well and truly kept . As Bro . Blair initiated him 31 years ago , it was appropriate that he should make the presentation .

Bro . BLAIR , in acknowledging the gift , thanked his friend , Bro . Prince , lor his kindly expressions , referred to the many losscss the lodge had sustained by death since he was in the chair , and said he was now the oldest subscribing Mason . He earnestly hoped that the lodge would continue to succeed for a very long period , and , as long as they adhered to sound Masonic principles , he was sure the Great Architect of the Universe would prosper this lodge . He trusted that he would be spared to attend the lodge for many years to come .

Bro . CHAPMAN then presented a splendid Secretary ' s table in commemoration of Bro . J . Webberley's retirement from the office of Secretary , after discharging the duties of that office for 26 years . It is of polished oak , the front being embellished with Masonic emblems designed by Bro . T . Tindal , and contained the following suitable inscription :

Staffordshire , in the position of Secretary of this Lodge , which he occupied for the space of 26 years , this tabic was placed in the lodge ( for the use of future Secretaries ) upon his retirement , 9 th day of May , 1895 . "

Bro . CHAPMAN said the brethren desired to testify their gratitude for Bro . Webberley ' s long and valuable services by something [ appropriate , and which should be of a permanent character in the lodge . It was an object of great utility-. and it would be valuable as reminding present and future members of the good work which Bro . Webberley had done for a very long period . The W . M ., then , on behalf of the Past Masters of the lodge , presented Bro . Webberley with the jewel of . a Secretary , assuring him of the brotherly love which they entertained towards him . With one exception , Bro . Webberley had seen all the existing members of the lodge initiated . 3

Bro . WEBBERLEY acknowledged the gifts , and the kind expressions toward him . The table was a beautiful piece of furniture , which would last a hundred years , and he hoped it would be an incentive to his son to become Secretary som day . He had been 3 6 years a member of the lodge , and had only missed thre c meetingn ; nothing gave him greater pleasure than to attend his lodge , for tl ' members had always been of one mind ; there had been no dissensions , no bicker ings , but they had always carried on business comfortably and harmonious y-The Etruscan Lodge had 24 Past Masters who were subscribing members and who "attended lodge , which was more than any other lodge in the province had .

Lodge , of which you are now the oldest subscribing member , and wish you every happiness and prosperity which your long career of usefulness , both as a Mason and a citiEen so well deserve . presentation—Bro .
