At the conclusion of the repast , the W . M ., in most becoming terms , presented the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , which were duly received . Bro . Woodthorpe , I . P . M ., proposed thetoastof "The W . M . " He said that it was his privilege and very pleasant duty to submit the toast , which he knew would be received with acclamation . Bro . Sibley had long been associated with the lodge , in which he had filled all the offices in a very efficient manner , and there was not the shadow of a doubt but that he would carry out his new duties with honour and credit to

the lodge , and its high reputation would be thoroughly maintained by him . The toast was enthusiastically received , as was Bro . Sibley , the W . M ., on rising to respond . He said he was much gratified at his reception and for the kind things said of him . It was somewhat difficult for him to adequately respond at all times , but that was an exceptional occasion . He was indeed proud to be Master of that , his mother lodge , in which he had received every kindness from them all , and he earnestly hoped to be able to do everything required of him in a satisfactory manner .

The W . M . gave "The Installing and Immediate Past Master , Bro . Woodthorpe , " remarking that he had had a splendid year of ofiice , and his working of the ritual could not be excelled . He was honoured to have been installed by so worthy a member , and in following him he had a difficult task . He need not further dilate upon his many qualities , except to add that he had the affection of all the members , and , in presenting him with a Past Master's jewel and collar , he hoped they would have his assistance for many years . Woodthorpe , who was well received , responded . He appreciated the kind words of the W . M ., and he thanked the members for their cordial reception . During his year of office he had endeavoured to carry out the programme which he had laid down when he was installed . He then undertook to carry out the working in the Stability form—that workiner which their dear Bro . Henrv Mucrreridrre loved = n w » ll—anrl h » h „ H

the satisfaction of feeling that evening that he had redeemed his promise . In doing so 'he harmony of the lodge had not been disturbed , and he had their evidence in the collar andjewel that his endeavours had been appreciated . He thanked them sincerely for the handsome jewel , which he should treasure most highly , and he would wear it with pride on every suitable occasion . He had received very able assistance from his oflicers , and he took that opportunity of tendering to them his best thanks . To acouire a knowledge

ii rltua b including the ceremony of installation , was no easy task for a busy man , and he would strongly urge upon the younger brethren , who were aspiring to ofiice , the necessity of preparing themselves by anticipation , so that when their time arrived they Wight not be found wanting . In conclusion he expressed a hope that his efforts to Preserve the good fellowship amongst the members had succeeded , and that they were as well satisfied with the result as he was .

. 'n giving " The Visitors , " the W . M . observed that it was a toast that was a ¦ avoured one there , and he was honoured with their presence , and he hoped to see them * Sain and again . Bro . E . Anderson , P . M ., said that it afforded him very much pleasure to be there , as the name of their lodge and of the lodge of instruction brought to his mind many happy recollections . It was an honoured one , and as such would be handed down to posterity , and as one who had worked hard in everything to promote the interests of Freemasonry . Bro . Stephens , P . M ., also replied , bearing testimony to the excellent working of the Installing piaster , and making special reference to the able manner the VV . M . had invested his officers , which , he ventured to think was ample proof that he would be able to carry out his duties with eclat .

Bro . John Sibley , in a short but earnest speech , given with much feeling , stated that he could not express in words the pleasure he felt in seeing his brother , the VV . M ., installed , but he wished him everything . Bro . VV . H . Keeble said that he and the W . M . had been in Masonic harness together for some years , but that Bro . Sibley had jumped over the traces and was now to the front , and he congratulated him upon the high position he had attained .

In submitting the toast of " The Past Masters , " the VV . M . stated that they were a tower of strength , and were always present in big numbers , which showed that they took a great interest in the lodge , and they were all good fellows and the best of friends . In response , Bro . C . Arnold , P . M ., stated that the Past Masters were getting so numerous that they would be able to form a lodge of their own . He initiated Bro . Siblev , and it afforded him much pleasure to see him installed . He had been an apt scholar , and had come up to the scratch , and with his great knowledge , it went without

saying that he would have a brilliant year of office , and the lodge would not suffer at his hands . Bro . J . T . Penney also replied in appropriate terms . The Worshipful Master gave "The Treasurer and Secretary , " observing that they were two splendid officers , and they looked forward to their being appointed year after year , as they could not do without them . Then , as to Bro . Sack , the Treasurer , he had been a member for many years , being the first initiate of the lodge . Bro . A . Sack , P . M ., Treas ., responded . He had stated on many occasions that

they would have two excellent Masters in Bros . Woodthorpe and Sibley , and as to the former , he had had a brilliant year of office , and was succeeded by one who was an excellent worker of the ritual , and who would maintain the good fellowship and brotherly love that existed in the lodge . They were indebted to Bro . Anderson , their able Preceptor , for the way he had turned out Bro . Woodthorpe , who was one of his pupils . He earnestly advocated the claims of the Charities , and urged the members to give more freely . Bro . Clark , P . M ., Sec . also replied in eloquent terms .

The toast of The Officers , was heartily received and responded to by Bros . R . J . Hall , S . W . ; C . J . Sowton , J . VV . ; J . W . Gomm , S . D . ; and Horace Laws , Org .

Bro . E . Anderson , P . M ., said that it afforded him very much pleasure to be there , as the name of their lodge and of the lodge of instruction brought to his mind many happy recollections . M . stated that they were a tower of strength , and were always present in big numbers , which showed that they took a great interest in the lodge , and they were all good fellows and the best of friends .
