Craft jlasonrji . PEACE AND HARMONY LODGE ( No . 60 ) . —A meeting of this old lodge was held at Freemasons ' Hall , Great Queen-street , on thc 23 rd instant . Among those present were Bros . A . S . Josling , P . G . S ., W . M . ; Layton , S . W . j Dr . Kempster , acting J . W . ; H . Young , P . G . S ., P . M ., Treas . ; F . Binckes , P . G . S ., P . G . S . B ., P . Polenz was ably passed to the Second Degree , and Bro . J . T . Cotton raised to the
Third Degree , both ceremonies being most ably performed by the W . M . Bro . Layton was unanimously elected W . Master , and Bro . H . Young unanimously re-elected Treasurer . Bros . Dr . Kempster and Rogers were elected Auditors . Ballot having been taken for Mr . C . Robinson , he was impressively initiated by the W . M . A Past Master's jewel having been voted to the W . M . by
acclamation , it was referred to the Audit Committee to make arrangements for the due celebration of the 150 th anniversary of Ihe lodge on Thursday , the 3 rd of May next . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to Ihe banquet . The usual toasts followed . " The Health of the W . M . " was ably proposed by Bro . Kent . He said that their W . M ., both in the lodge and
out of it , had proved himself to be a good Mason and accomplished Chairman . He hoped that the brethren who were coming on would follow in the footsteps of Bro . Josling , whose working of the beautiful ceremonies of the Craft had left but little to be desired . The Worshipful Master , in reply , expressed his acknowments to Bro . Kent , and said that he had endeavoured to
discharge his responsibilities to the best of his ability . He had been ably supported by the Past Masters and the officers generally , and that he should always look back to his cccupancy cf the chair of No . 60 with unqualified pleasure . " The Initiate " followed , and drew in response from Bro . Robinson an excellent reply .
The toast of "The Visitors" followed , and was duly acknowledged . "The Health of the Past Masters" came next in order , and Bros . Kent and Barton replied in appropriate terms . In giving the toast of " The Treasurer and Secretary , " the W . M . spoke highly of the services of those two officers . He said that he owed a great deal to the exertions
of Bros . Young and Binckes , and that he was pleased that the first named bad elected to remain as Treasurer , notwithstanding the distance he resided from town . In Bro . Binckes they had one who was the beau ideal of a Secretary , and one whose name was a household word in Freemasonry . In conclusion , he hoped that both would be
spared many years to assist | with their valuable advice the brethren of the lodge . Bros . Young and Binckes replied . The toast of "The Officers , " coupled with the name of Bro . Rogers , who replied , brought the proceedings to a conclusion . ¦
DRURY LANE LODGE ( No . 2127 ) . —An emergency meeting of this lodge was held in the Grand Saloon of the Theatre Royal , Drury Lane , on Tuesday , the 27 th instant , under the presidency of Bro . Sir John Gorst , Q . C ., M . P ., when Mr . Lawson , the proprietor of the Daily Telegraph , his son , Mr . Lawson , jun ., and Mr . Slaughter , the well-known musical conductor ,
were severally initiated into the early mysteries of Freemasonry , the ceremony being most ably and impressively carried out by the W . M ., who proved himself a complete master of the spirit and language of our ritual . When the duty was concluded , Bro . A . M . Broadley , Secretary , read a list of brethren to be proposed as joining members of the lodge , and the brethren having , at the kind
invitation of Bro . Augustus Harris , I . P . M ., adjourned and partaken of light ref reshment , lodge was resumed , and Bro . Thorndike sang "The Entered Apprentice ' s Song , " all present joining heartily in the chorus of that well-known song . We congratulate the lodge on these further additions to the long array of public men who have enrolled themselves
among its members , either as initiates or joining brethren , in the two years that have elapsed since its establishment , and we trust it will be our privilege to record many more such pleasant and beneficial meetings during the Mastership of Bro . M . gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts . In response to that of "The Grand Lodge , " Bro . R . Hudson , P . G . Std . Br ., responded . Bro . I . Moult responded for "The Prov . G . L ., " and
Bro . J . Duckitt for " Ihe sister Province of Northumberland . " _ Bro . E . Shewbrooks proposed "The W . M ., " who , in his reply , hoped that he might be able to give his P . M . ' s some share of the work to do . " The Health of the Installing Master" was duly toasted , and Bro . Shewbrooks returned thanks . Bro . J . G . Smith , P . M ., proposed "The Charities , " and
Bro . C . S . Lane , P . M ., replied , and explained the working of the London Charities , as well as the Durham Educatioional Fund . "The Past Masters " were next toasted , and Bros . D . Sinclair , Robert Whitfield , J . G . Smith , and W . M . Pybus , responded . Other toasts followed . A very agreeable time was spent in harmony , and the proceedings closed .

A . charge was delivered to five initiates by Bro . Peter
Lawton , P . M . Bros . S . Hall and H . Mellalieu were passed to the Second Degree—Bro . S . Hall by the W . M ., and Bro . H . Mellalieu by Bro . J . Hatton , P . M . The whole of the work was well done , and reflected credit on all concerned . On the motion of Bro . Peter Lawton , P . M ., the sum of 10 guineas was voted to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution . Notification having been received from
the Town Clerk that the foundation stone of a new Free Library would be laid in Middleton on Saturday , the 7 th prox ., at 3 . 30 , and inviting the members of the lodge to take part thereof , it was resolved , after some discussion , to accept the invitation and apply to the R . W . P . G . M . for a dispensation to wear Masonic clothing , and , there being no further business , the lodge was closed . The brethren afterwards sat down to a capital supper ,
which was thorougly enjoyed by all after such a long spell of labour . "The Health of the Initiates " was proposed and drunk heartily , each brother responding . "The Visitors" was proposed and responded to ; and , in consequence of several brethren having to return to Manchester , the Tyler's toast brought the proceedings to a close .

At the conclusion of the impressive ceremony , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to a banquet , which was thoroughly enjoyed by all . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given . In proposing " The Health of the W . M ., Bro . John Sutton , " Bro . J . Ramsbottom , P . M ., spoke in very high terms of the great ability displayed by him during his connection with ^ the lodge , which he had no doubt would still be continued .
"The Health of the I . P . M ,, Bro . Ramsbottom , " was proposed by Bro . J . Sutton , W . M ., in a few well chosen remarks , after which he presented him with a beautiful P . M . ' s jewel , which had been presented by thc brethren as a token of their great esteem for his services during his year of office .
Bro . Ramsbottom responded in a very humorous speech . Other toasts followed , and a very happy evening was spent . The above jewel was specially made by Bro . George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Manchester .
KINGSTON-ON-THAMES . —Dobie Lodge ( No . SS 9 ) . —This lodge met at the Griffin Hotel , on the 21 st mst ., when the brethren appeared in mourning for the late Bro . Buckland , P . M . Bro . W . Drewett , W . M ., opened the lodge with his officers , viz .: Bros . W . Chanman , I . P . M . ; J . Drewett , S . W . ; B . ColbronJ . W . ;
, F . I . Hayward , S . D . ; and Metcalf , I . G . Bros . Long , P . M ., and Elsam , P . M ., were also in their places as Treasurer and Secretary respectively . Bro . Herbert Clifford was raised to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . The W . M , gave way to Bro . Chapman , in order that he might complete what he had commenced , and by him the impressive ceremony was performed in an
excellent manner . Mr . VV . Walker having been duly elected , was then introduced into Masonry by the W . M ., who was admirably supported by his otficers , each one of whom proved their proficiency in the ritual . Ten guineas were voted to the Girls' Festival , at which the Dobie Lodge will be represented by Bro . Long , who , later in the evening sent round his list , which carried his total at
that time to £ 54 . A vote of thanks was given to the Immediate Past Master for his gift of a carpet for the lodge room , and then the S . W . delivered to the brethren a farewell message for Bro . Buckland , given him to convey to the brethren a few hours before his death . It was resolved
that an expression of regret at the loss of so good and worthy brother be recorded on the minutes of the lodge . While at refreshment , the brethren were asked to remember the case of Cable at the coming Boys' Election . This £ S Surre Y case , and has the support of the Provincial Officers .
WESTON . —Royal Albert Edward Lodge ( No , 906 ) . —An emergency meeting was held on Friday , 24 th mst ., at the Crown and Anchor , Bro . Bartlett , W . M ., in the chair , supported by Bros . VV . Young , I . P . M . ; Knight , c ; ; G rlZ > P ± -l Mercer , P . M . 41 ; Dingle , P . M ., Stuckey , P . M . ; Stotheit , P . M . ; Bull , S . W . ; Wadoux , J . sublime Degree of Master Mason was proceeded with , and was performed with much impressiveness . Bro . Bull . S . W ., invested and addressed the candidates , and Bro . Love ace explained and presented the working tools very clearly , after which Bro . Moutrie gave the traditional
history , and we think was never heard to do so in a more clear and impressive manner . It has been our pleasure to hear him for many years , but never remember to have heard him in better form ; his retentive memory , clear enunciation , and correctness of ritual , rendering it perfect . DRURY LANE LODGE ( No . 2127 ) . —An emergency meeting of this lodge was held in the Grand Saloon of the Theatre Royal , Drury Lane , on Tuesday , the 27 th instant , under the presidency of Bro . Sir John Gorst , Q . C ., M . P ., when Mr . Lawson , the proprietor of the Daily Telegraph , his son , Mr . Lawson , jun ., and Mr . Slaughter , the well-known musical conductor ,
were severally initiated into the early mysteries of Freemasonry , the ceremony being most ably and impressively carried out by the W . M ., who proved himself a complete master of the spirit and language of our ritual . When the duty was concluded , Bro . A . M . M ., spoke in very high terms of the great ability displayed by him during his connection with ^ the lodge , which he had no doubt would still be continued .
"The Health of the I . P . M ,, Bro . Ramsbottom , " was proposed by Bro . J . Sutton , W . M ., in a few well chosen remarks , after which he presented him with a beautiful P . M . ' s jewel , which had been presented by thc brethren as a token of their great esteem for his services during his year of office .
Bro . Ramsbottom responded in a very humorous speech . Other toasts followed , and a very happy evening was spent . The above jewel was specially made by Bro . George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Manchester .
KINGSTON-ON-THAMES . —Dobie Lodge ( No . SS 9 ) . —This lodge met at the Griffin Hotel , on the 21 st mst ., when the brethren appeared in mourning for the late Bro . Buckland , P . M . Bro . W . Chapman , in order that he might complete what he had commenced , and by him the impressive ceremony was performed in an
excellent manner . Mr . VV . Walker having been duly elected , was then introduced into Masonry by the W . M ., who was admirably supported by his otficers , each one of whom proved their proficiency in the ritual . Ten guineas were voted to the Girls' Festival , at which the Dobie Lodge will be represented by Bro . Long , who , later in the evening sent round his list , which carried his total at
that time to £ 54 . A vote of thanks was given to the Immediate Past Master for his gift of a carpet for the lodge room , and then the S . W . delivered to the brethren a farewell message for Bro . Buckland , given him to convey to the brethren a few hours before his death . It was resolved
that an expression of regret at the loss of so good and worthy brother be recorded on the minutes of the lodge . While at refreshment , the brethren were asked to remember the case of Cable at the coming Boys' Election . This £ S Surre Y case , and has the support of the Provincial Officers .
