Eagle , as you are fully aware the brethren at our last meeting unanimously voted you a Secretary ' s jewel to express in an outward and visible manner that inward grace and brotherl y feeling they
entertain towards yiu fpr your valuable services during many years as Semtary of the lodge . It is my pleasing duty to carry out that decision by now investing you with this beautiful jewel as a mark of esteem whi ' h is emphasised by the fact that the brethren have determined to give you an unofficial presentation of a French cli ck and candelabra to which every brother has subscribed ; our dear sister , Mrs . Eagle , having selected it . May the G . A . U . T . U . give
you inci eased health and strength to wear the jewel fur many years is the tamest prayer of all present . Bro . L . E . Eagle most appropriately acknowledged the handsome testimonial . The addresses were impressively delivered by Bro . J . Lightfoot . Two
propositions were handed in for initiation at the next meeting , which augurs well . The business ended , the brethren adjourned to a capital banquet provided by Bro . H . Reed , to which ample justice was done , and which gave satisfaction . On the removal of the cloth the customary loyal and Masonic toasts were given and received in an appreciative
style . The toast of " The Pro G . M ., Dep . G . M .. and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " received the honour which is- due to such excellent workers . Bro . J . Lightf > ot next gave the toast of " The Worshi pful Master , " stating hat in his capacity as I . P . M ., it gave him great satisfaction in presenting , as to his mind it was one of great importance . The VV . M ., holding that orou-i
position in his mother lodge , like a dutiful son , would do his very utmost to further its interests . He had known the W . M . years before he became a Mason , and always found him a man of sterling worth . The desire of the brethren was that he might have good health to carry out his duties effectually , and in order to enable him to do so , he ( Bio . Lightfoot ) had much pleasure , indeed , in assisting him , by
presenting the lodge with a silver inlaid ivory gavel . The toast was drunk most cordially . In reply , Bro . Morgan thanked the brethren for such a kind reception . His feelings were more than he could adequately express . He little thought when first invested with the collar of Organist of the lodge he should reach that proud position . All the offices of the lodge had been filled by him
faithfully , and to the best of his ability , and now having been placed in the chair of K . S . by the suffrages of the brethren , he hoped , with the able assistance of his officers , to carry out the duties with the same faithfulness , which would reflect credit upon himself , and to the satisfaction of the brethren . Ihe Worshiplul faster next gave the toast of " The
Installing Master , " which he knew would be received with enthusiasm . The manner in which the addresses were given really showed what the heart was truly dictating . His merits were well known to all the brethren . The climax of his most successful year of office was the splendid jewel voted by the brethren , unanimously indicating their respect , love , and esteem . It gave the W . M . intense
pleasure in pinning it to the breast of Bro . Lightfoot , trusting that the G . A . O . T . U . would long spare him to wear it , and at the same time to assure him he had the affection of every brother of the Selwyn Lodge . Bro . Lightfoot , in an able reply , dilated upon the dignity and high importance of Freemasonry , the beauties of the ceremony , and its power in advancing all that is good ,
yet even without religion , upon which its foundation is laid , would be nothing . His had been a labour of love in the chair , and he was deeply grateful to the G . A . O . T . U ., wl o had enabled him toe 11 ry out the duties to the satisfaction of the brethren . He trusted the brethren would do their best in order to secu . e the election of Bro . Marsh as an annuitant on the Benev lent Institution . He most sincerely thanked them for their hearty appreciation .

Ramsey was presented with a handsome and valuable Past Master ' s jewel , and , after other lodge business had been transacted , the lodge was closed . The banquet having been partaken of , the W . M . gave the usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts .
Bro . Ramsey , I . P . M ., in prop ising the toast of "The W . M ., " said that he and Bro . 1 'lpple were initiated in the lodge on the same evening , and had worked together through the various offices below the chair . They had had an opportunity ot seeing how well Bro . Dipple had discharged the duties of those offices , and now that he had arrived at the proud position of W . M . he felt sure that Bro . Dipple would be an honour to the lodge .
Bro . Dipple , in reply , said he hardly knew how to thank Bro . Ramsey for his kind remarks and the brethren for their hearty reception of ihe same . It was quite true , as Bro . Ramsey said , that they were initiated the same evening . He also referred to the good work done in and for ihe lodge by the Past Masters . That night he did not intend to say much , but promised to make a speech on the occasion of their next meeting " three feet long . " He concluded by
heartily thanking them for their kindness to him that night and also in the past . Bro . Pargeter , in responding to a hearty reception of the toast ot " The Ins-ailing Officer , " said that he had said in the lodge all that he could say as to the carrying out of his duty , so that nothing was left except fjr him to say
that if he had pleased them that was his reward . Bro . Shurmur responded for " The Visitors , " and spoke highly of the working both uf Bros . Rimsey and Pargeter . He also spoke in flattering terms of the excellent manner in which the W . M . had invested his officers , and declared that he had never seen better working in any lodge . He

M . and Sec , in the foil--wing words : Bro . Dr .
The report of the Auditors was received and adopted . Bro . B . Morgan S . VV . and W . M . elect , was presented by Bro . W . Wills , I . P . M ., to receive the benefit of installation , which ceremony was performed in a masterly manner by Bro . J . Lightfoot . The investiture of officers was next procaded with as follows : Bros . I . Lightfoot , l . P . M . ; A .
Briant , S . W . ; H . R . Hobbs , J . W . ; L . E . Eagle , P . M ., Sec . ; E . Eagle , Treas . ( deferred ); W . H . Hook , P . M .. D . C . j T . VV . Gay , S . D . ; A . H . Fraser , J .
