Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Afterthe usualloyaland Grand Lodge toasts , Bro . Parson's name was cuupled with that of the " Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past , " and in response said he felt proud to have his name coupled with such grand Masons as Lord Holmesdale and Bro . Eastes ; the more of whom he saw , the more he honoured and admired them . It was a great honour to him when in the position of a Grand Officer , and he had great pleasure in returning them his hearty

thanks for the toast . He then proposed the toast of the W . M ., and in so doing said he felt sure that Bro . Coombes would carry out the duties of W . M . to their satisfaction . He had known Bro . Coombes for some time as as a good earnest mason , and now that after passing through most of the subordinate offices in the lodge , he had arrived at the chair , he felt sure that under his rule the lodge would go on and prosper .

The YVorshipful Master responded . After thanking the brethren for the toast , he said when he joined the lodge he had noideaofpromotion , not thinking himself able to manage its concerns , but he had been encouraged toput his shoulder to the wheel , and all he now asked of the brethren was to give him their assistance , and if they did , he , aided by the experience of the Past Masters , had no fear of the result .

Ihe toast of "The Visitors" having been responded to by Bros . Challoner , Pritchett , Holleyman , Monk , and Jolly , that of " The Past Masters" followed ,-andin response Bro . Gore thanked the brethren personally for many acts of kindness to him during his connection with the lodge . Bro . Parsons said he had been a Past Master only a few minutes , but was exceedingly pleased to be included in their ranks .

Bro . Paget felt great pleasure in responding , because it brought forcibly to his mind the time when he first occupied the chair of their lodge as its YV . M . It was in the year 1 S 66 , and for many years afterwards he was a constant visitor . Circumstances for a time prevented his attendance , but now that he had renewed his connection with it he hoped to be with them for many years to come . As to the Past Masters hesawaround him , someof whom he had himself

initiated into freemasonry , he was proud to say that neither he nor they had ever regretted it . All that the Past Masters desired was to cement the good feeling and brotherly love that at present existed in the lodge , and help an aspiring brother to the height of his ambition . As Bro . Jolly had said in his speech " they did not live for themselves alone . " No , as Masons they helped the distressed , and soothed the afflicted , and as in the grand economy of

nature the modest yet sweet scented violet bloomed often unnoticed by the hedgerow , so in Masonry did Charity , in quiet , and unobserved , pour forth its balm into the wounds of sorrow and distress . Might such noble attributes be transmitted throughout the lodge from generation tu generation . Dr . Spurrell spoke of the grand result of the appeal of their P . G . M ., Lord Holmesdale , to the Masons of Kent for the

Boys School , and said ihe outer world now saw that Masons were not simply " worshippers of Bacchus , " but built up for themselves noble and enduring moments by their unselfish , and in many cases self-denying charity . Bros . Hastings , Etheridge , Aloulder , and Hanson having briefly replied , "The Officers , " "Masonic Press , " and Tyler's toast concluded the proceedings , which were of the most harmonious and genial character .
