ISRAEL CHAPTER ( No . 205 ) . —The installation meeting of this flourishing chapter was held at the Cannon-street Hotel , on the 15 th inst . The following were amongst those present : Comps . C F . Hogard , M . E . Z . ; A . J . Henochsberg , P . Z . 1 S 8 , H . ( M . E . Z . elect ); Jos . DaSilva , J . ( H . elect ); H . J . Phillips , S . E . ( J . elect ); J . A . Gartley , S . N . ; 1 . P . Cohen , Treas . ; Rev . M . Haines ,

1 st A . S . ; J . Lichtenfeld , D . C . ; R . J . Paton , Org . ; T Fenn , P . Z ., P . President G . Chapter Committee ; S , Schmerl , J . Corrie , I . Abrahams , J . S . Barnett , E . Schumann , E . H . Norden , E . Ehrenberg , G . Saling , T , Wallace , S . Dancyger . Visitors : Comps . A . M . Cohen , P . Z . 18 S ; J . Wynman , iSS ; Edward Terry , P . Z . 1319 ; W . W . Lee , 1524 . The convocation having been duly

opened , the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Bros . Samuel Dancyger and Thomas Wallace , 205 , were then impressively exalted . The installation of the Principals was then proceeded with , the three chairs being filled by Comps . A . J . Henochsberg ( P . Z . 18 S ) M . E . Z . ; Jos . Da Silva , H . ; and H . J . Phillips , J . The officers' collars were distributed as follows : Comps . C .

F . Hogard , P . Z ., S . E . ; J . A . Gartley , S . N . ; I . P . Cohen , Treas . ; L . Norden , P . S . j Rev . M . Haines , 1 st Assist . S . ; E . Ehrenberg , 2 nd Assist . S . ; J . Lichtenfeld , D . C . ; R . J . Paton , Org . ; M . Bromet , Stwd . ; Walkley , Janitor . The M . E . Z . presented a jewel to the I . P . Z ., Comp . C . F . Hogard , as a mark of the appreciation of the Companions , at his valuable services during the past year .

In making the presentation the M . E . Z . remarked that the jewel was also in recognition of the energy and zeal displayed by the l . P . Z . at the formation of the chapter , and he sincerely trusted Companion Hogard would be spared for many years to wear it and assist them with his counsel and advice . Companion Hogard , l . P . Z . and S . E ., having briefly returned thanks , the convocation was closed and the

companions adjourned to banquet . The usual toasts were subsequently duly proposed , "The Queen and Royal Arch Masonry" being first honoured . The M . E . Z . then proposed "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Grand M . E . Z . ; the Earl ot Carnarvon , Pro G . M . E . Z . ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past . " The M . E . Z . observed that they were honoured by

the presence of a Grand Officer—Comp . Fenn , P . Pres . of the Grand Chapter Committee . The companions would remember that Comp . Fenn officiated at the consecration of their chapter , and as they were well aware , took a great interest in Masonry , as was evinced by the high position he holds in Grand Lodge and Chapter . Comp . Fenn was also

an honorary member of the chapter , and he should couple his name with the toast . Comp . T . Fenn , P . Z ., in reply , said the M . E . Z . had quite taken his breath away by mentioning his name with the exalted personages referred to in the toast . He could not say very much about the Grand Officers , for they had little

to do , but he was pleased to say they met in very good numbers . Like other Masonic meetings they could not get on without dinners . Perhaps it was a lesson that might be well followed by those who took an | interest in Grand Chapter , so that those who were not Grand Officers might have a dinner amongst themselves . On behalf of the Grand Officers , he begged to thank them for the reception given the toast ,

and , personally , he was very pleased to be present . As they had heard , he was present at the consecration of the chapter , and took a great interest in its prosperity . He was pleased to find they now had a fair number of members , and that success was assured . He had also been

pleased to hear the ceremonies that evening , for he rarely had an opportunity of listening , as he mostly had to perform the work . He only heard the installation of the Third Principal , and would have liked to have heard Comp . Hogard render the others . He thanked them for their kind reception , and hoped to have the pleasure of repeating his visit .

The toast of "The Three First Principals" was then given by Comp . Hogard , I . P . Z ., who said he rose with very great pleasure to submit it , as it was the first time they had had a Past Principal to propose it . When they considered that the three lirst Principals had each passed the chair of the Israel Lodge , had creditably performed all the ceremonies , and had installed their successors , they would

all agree with him that it augured well for the chapter . Comp . Henochsberg , their M . E . Z ., was not new to the work , being P . Z . of another chapter . Comp . Da Silva , the H ., had also filled a similar office elsewhere . Comp . Phillips , J ., had never undertaken any duties he had not performed in a perfect manner , and would ably carry out the work of his office . He was sure that nothing he could

say would add to the enthusiastic reception the companions would give the toast . The M . E . Z ., in reply , tendered his thanks for the manner in which the toast had been proposed and received . All he could tell them was that the duties of his office would be carefully carried out , and he should try to emulate the excellent example set him by Comp . Hogard , who had just

vacated the chair . Comp . Da Silva , H ., thanked the l . P . Z . and the companions for their kindness , and said that when the day arrived for him to fill the position which the M . E . Z . now so worthily occupied , he hoped the duties he had performed would have given them satisfaction . Comp . Phillips , J ., also replied , and assured them how

deeply sensible he was of their kindness , and said he should strive to give them satisfaction . "The Exaltees" having been given , and suitably responded to by Comps . Dancyger and Wallace , "The Visitors" was proposed by the M . E . Z ., who remarked that there was nothing more enjoyable than the pleasure of welcoming visitors . Amongst those present

was Comp . Cohen , P . Z . iSS , a very old and distinguished Freemason , and P . M . of their mother lodge . Comp . E . Terry , P . Z . 1319 , had also been present ; but , owing toprofessional engagements , had been obliged to leave . He expressed the hope that the visiting companions would again favour them with their company on a future occasion . Comp . A . M . Cohen , P . Z . 188 , responded , and after

thanking the companions for the heartiness of his reception , expressed his gratification at seeing the work so well done . He congratulated the chapter on having officers who were so competent to perform the work . With such companions the chapter must succeed in numbers , in respectability , and in the esteem of the companions of the Order . Comp . Wynman , 188 , and Lee , 1524 , also replied .

"The Health of the I . P . Z ., " was then given by the M . E . Z ., who remarked that Comp . Hogard occupied a very unique position , being the first P . Z . of the chapter . They had been very fortunate in having the assistance of Comp . Hogard during the past year , and all present were aware how well he had worked it together . He had very willingly undertaken the duties of S . E ., and this would be

a guarantee that the chapter would progress satisfactorily . Comp . C . F . Hogard , l . P . Z . and S . E ., said that after the very eulogistic remarks of the M . E . Z ., he scarcely knew what to say . He had felt that the Lodge of Israel , having existed for so many years , ought to have a chapter . He was pleased to say it had been a success , and that , as they had a very large lodge from which to recruit , he

trusted it would be a long time before they were without having work to do . He begged to return his sincere thanks , and assured them it would be his endeavour to do what he could for the chapter . " The Officers " was proposed by Comp . Hogard , who referred to the admirable manner in which the companions in office performed their work .

Comp . I . P . Cohen , Treas ., replied , and thanked the l . P . Z . for the high encomiums he had passed . He assured them that whilst he was retained in his present position , nothing would be wanting on his part to give satisfaction . He should not be satisfied until the balance at the bankers reached four figures . Comp . Rev . M . Haines also replied , after which the Janitor ' s toast closed the proceedings .

proposed , and Bro . Purdue seconded , that the fifteen Sections be worked in this lodge on the 12 th March—carried unanimously ; the lodge to meet at 6 . 30 , and the annual supper to take place as soon after as possible . The lodge was then closed . A meeting of the Benevolent Association was then held , the ballot resulting in favour of Bro . Dr . Lawrence . It was unanimously resolved to form the second series of Subscribers to this Association , as the first had proved so successful , and the Secretary will be very pleased to receive names of brethren willing to subscribe to the same ; the rate is one shilling weekly .

Royal Arch.

to do , but he was pleased to say they met in very good numbers .
