Andrexv's Lodge , London , xvho in responding spoke in complimentary terms of the xvorking of the Lodge , and alio of the impressive manner in xvhich the ceremonies had been performed . banquet it xvould compare most favourably xvith any other at xvhich he had been present . "The Initiate" having been toasted , Bro . Alaples replied , and assured the brethren that he already took a deep interest in the mysteries of the craft . The Tyler ' s toast closed the proceedings .

The musical arrangements xvere most complete , the intervals betxveen the speeches being occupied by songs rendered by Bros . A nicely served supper having been partaken of , thc brethren reassembled round the social board , and after having drank the usual loyal and Alasonic toasts , " The Health of Lord Holmesdale , Provincial Grand Master of Kent , " having been drunk , that of " The Deputy Grand Master , Bro . Eastes , and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , " xvas honoured .

Bro . Denton , xvhose name had been coupled xvith the toast , having responded , Bro . Alason proposed the toast of " The W . M . " He said Hro . Edmonds had given them that night still further proof of his abilities as a Alaster , and b y the impressive manner in which he had performed thc Third Degree , must have left a lasting impression , not only on the candidate .

but their minds of the obligations imposed upon them . I he Worshipful Master in response felt proud to command txvo such battalions—one on the right of him and one on the left—as he saxv around him that night , especially as they xvere evidently satisfied xvith his command . In responding for " Thc Past Alasters , " Bro . Alason xvould have preferred it to have fallen into the hands of

some older Master than himself . The duties of a Past Alaster xvere almost as arduous as that of W . M ., especially when , as he Bro . Penfold and others constituted themselves Stexvards at their festive boards . He hoxvever cordially thanked them for the toast . Bro . Coupland also responded , and paid a high tribute to

Alaster ' s jexvel and collar , voted unanimously at a previous meeting , remarked that he felt proud to be the medium of conveying a well-earned token of merit to a brother for xvhom they had the highest possible regard , and xvhose constant labour had been to keep up the prestige of the lodge . inherent in British soldiers to do their duty , xvhatever that duty might be , thoroughly xvell , and to the best of their ability , and he believed their Past Masters , who xverc all military men , had invariably done so . He had to compliment Bro . Adams upon the xvork he had accomplished during thc past year , crowned as it had been that day by thc magnificent manner in xvhich ho had installed his

successor , Bro . Hall , P . AL , responded to the toast of "The Visitors . " He xvas sure all the visitors had most thoroughly enjoyed themselves * , thc work in the lodge shoxved that from Inner Guard to VV . M . the ritual had been perfectly mastered , and that their efficiency xvas not deteriorating . Bro . Eve , P . AL , P . P . G . S . W ., responded to the toast of

Ihe Charities , saying he need scarcel y remind them that he had been present at all their installation meetings since the lodge xvas constituted , and he could not help congratulating them upon the admirable manner in xvhich they continued to xvork upon thc good old lines introduced by thc founders . BID . Eve concluded an excellent speech by

giving some very pleasing and satisfactory information as to the training the boys and girls received at the Masonic Schools , by xvhich it appears thc good seed soxvn there invariably bore good fruit in their after life . Other toasts folloxved , and the brethren separated after spending a delightful evening , xvhich hail been enlivened by some capital songs and recitations .

A nicely served supper having been partaken of , thc brethren reassembled round the social board , and after having drank the usual loyal and Alasonic toasts , " The Health of Lord Holmesdale , Provincial Grand Master of Kent , " having been drunk , that of " The Deputy Grand Master , Bro . Eastes , and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , " xvas honoured .

Bro . Denton , xvhose name had been coupled xvith the toast , having responded , Bro . Alason proposed the toast of " The W . M . " He said Hro . Edmonds had given them that night still further proof of his abilities as a Alaster , and b y the impressive manner in which he had performed thc Third Degree , must have left a lasting impression , not only on the candidate .

but their minds of the obligations imposed upon them . I he Worshipful Master in response felt proud to command txvo such battalions—one on the right of him and one on the left—as he saxv around him that night , especially as they xvere evidently satisfied xvith his command . In responding for " Thc Past Alasters , " Bro . Alason xvould have preferred it to have fallen into the hands of

some older Master than himself . The duties of a Past Alaster xvere almost as arduous as that of W . M ., especially when , as he Bro . Ihe Charities , saying he need scarcel y remind them that he had been present at all their installation meetings since the lodge xvas constituted , and he could not help congratulating them upon the admirable manner in xvhich they continued to xvork upon thc good old lines introduced by thc founders . giving some very pleasing and satisfactory information as to the training the boys and girls received at the Masonic Schools , by xvhich it appears thc good seed soxvn there invariably bore good fruit in their after life .
