THE FUNERAL OF BRO . SIR AUGUSTUS HARRIS , PAST GRAND TREASURER .
The remains of our late Bro . Sir Augustus Harris , Past Grand Treasurer of England , were interred in Brompton Cemetery on Saturday last , the procession , which included the hearse followed by upwards of 24 mourning coaches and several hundreds of private carriages , being one of the most imposing ever seen in London , while crowds thronged the streets along the line of route from St . John ' s Wood to the Cemetery , and reverently saluted the casket containing the body as
it passed . Among those who received invitations from Lady Harris and accepted seats in the coaches were Bro . Charles Harris , Bro . James Willing , Bros . Sir E . Lawson and the Earl of Londesborough , Bro . J . C . Parkinson , Bro . James Fernandez , Bro . S . B . Bancroft , and Bros . Edward Ledger and W . S . Albani , Bro . Harry Nicholls , and many others . On Sunday a memorial service was held at St . George ' s Chapel , Albermarle-streer , at which the Rev . Dr . Ker Gray preached an eloquent sermon , in which he dwelt on the numberless acts of kindness done by the deceased . It may be added that the directors of the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company have passed a vote of condolence with Lady Harris , and further , that there is some talk of erecting a statue or memorial in some other form in honour of our late brother .

Robert Jennings , of Romford , who passed away on Monday , the 22 nd ult ., after a lingering illness , from consumption . The deceased , who was 39 years of age , had resided in Romford for about 20 years . He was a member of the Romford "Urban District Council , being elected upon that body in December , 1894 . Of late , however , ill-health had prevented
him from taking that active part in the affairs of the town that he otherwise would have done . Bro . Jennings was a prominent member of the Liberty of Havering Lodge , No . 1437 , of which he was a Past Master , and Past Provincial Grand Sword Bearer Essex , besides being P . Z . of Sir Francis White Chapter , No . 1437 , and Past Prov . Assistant Grand Sojourner Essex . Bro . Jennings ' s early deat has created deep-felt sorrow among a large circle of friends , by whom he was highly esteemed , and great sympathy is expressed with the widow and three

Z ., the Vestry Clerk of Rochester , dropped dead suddenly while in the act of drinking a cup of tea . Our deceased brother was a Mason of fully 30 years' standing , and was very highly respected not only in Rochester itself , but also throughout the Province of Kent . He was , we believe , initiated into Masonry in the Royal Kent Lodge of Antiquity , No . 20 , Chatham , and was elected and installed in the chair of W . M . in 1868 . He was likewise a member of the
Beacon Court Lodge , No . 1967 , New Brompton , and of the Lord Charles Beresford Lodge , No . 2404 , Chatham , and in the year 1886 was appointed Prov . S . G . Warden . In Royal Arch Masonry he was a P . Z ., having occupied the chair of First Principal of the Royal Kent Chapter of Antiquity , No . 20 , Chatham , in 1873 . He was a member of Gundulph Chapter , No . 1050 , Rochester ; of Military Jubilee Chapter , No .. 2195 , Dover ; and of Royal Naval and Military Chapter , No .
2404 , Chatham ; and held the office of Prov . G . Scribe E . in the Prov . Grand Chapter of Kent . In Mark Masonry he had won similar distinction , having filled the chair of A . in United Service Lodge , No . 69 , Chatham , and being a subscribing member of St . Andrew ' s Lodge , No . 237 , Rochester . In 1879 he was honoured with the appointment of Prov . S . G . Warden . Bro . Warne was 70 years of age at the time of his death . BRO . THOMAS SAMUEL WARNE , P . M ., P . Z . It is with very great regret we announce that a short while since Bro . Thomas Samuel Thorne , P . M ., P . Z ., the Vestry Clerk of Rochester , dropped dead suddenly while in the act of drinking a cup of tea . Our deceased brother was a Mason of fully 30 years' standing , and was very highly respected not only in Rochester itself , but also throughout the Province of Kent . He was , we believe , initiated into Masonry in the Royal Kent Lodge of Antiquity , No . 20 , Chatham , and was elected and installed in the chair of W . M . in 1868 . He was likewise a member of the
Beacon Court Lodge , No . 1967 , New Brompton , and of the Lord Charles Beresford Lodge , No . 2404 , Chatham , and in the year 1886 was appointed Prov . S . G . Warden . In Royal Arch Masonry he was a P . Z ., having occupied the chair of First Principal of the Royal Kent Chapter of Antiquity , No . 20 , Chatham , in 1873 . He was a member of Gundulph Chapter , No . 1050 , Rochester ; of Military Jubilee Chapter , No .. 2195 , Dover ; and of Royal Naval and Military Chapter , No .
2404 , Chatham ; and held the office of Prov . G . Scribe E . in the Prov . Grand Chapter of Kent . In Mark Masonry he had won similar distinction , having filled the chair of A . in United Service Lodge , No . 69 , Chatham , and being a subscribing member of St . Andrew ' s Lodge , No . 237 , Rochester . In 1879 he was honoured with the appointment of Prov . S . G . Warden . Bro . Warne was 70 years of age at the time of his death .
