The lodge was opened in due form , the' minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Fowles worked the First and Second Sections of this Lecture . Bro . G . Reynolds having offered himself as a candidate for initiation , the W . M . was pleased to rehearse the ceremony . Lodge opened in the Second Degree . Bro . Fowles worked the First Section of this Lecture . Lodge resumed to the First Degree . Bro . T . A . Dickson offering himself as a

candidate to be passed to the Second Degree the usual questions were put and well answered . Lodge opened in the Second Degree , and the W . M . rehearsed the Degree of F . C . On the motion of Bro . Fowles , which was seconded by the J . VV ., Bro . Cross was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and appointed his officers in rotation . Bro . Fowles , one of the Auditors , read the report for the year 1 SS 4 , from which it appears 48 meetings had been

held ,- the number of members attending 666 , and the number of new and joining members 42 . The lodge had been opened in the First Degree 4 S times ; in the Second Degree 48 times ; and in the Third Degree 25 times . Lodge had been resumed from one Degree to another 31 times , closed down 23 times , and called off six times . The ceremony of initiation had been rehearsed 33 times , passing 10 times , and raising 19

times , installation four times . The First Lecture with several of its Sections had been worked 4 S times , Second Lecture 27 times , and the Third Lecture 12 times . There had been two deaths amongst the members , one being their late worthy Preceptor , Bro . W . H . Richardson . The lodge did not meet on three evenings of the year . A Charitable Association in connection with the lodge had been established , and is progressing very well indeed .

There are over 50 members belonging to the same . From the books it appeared that after paying all expenses connected with the lodge there was a sufficient balance ( £ 5 5 s . ) for a ballot to one of the Royal Masonic Charitable Institutions . This had been drawn by Bro . Frank Gulliford , in accordance with the bye-laws . Every member attending 20 meetings in the year was entitled to participate in this ballot .

The reportwas unanimously conlirmed , whereupon Bro . Fowles proposed that a vote of thank's be recorded on the minutes to Bro . G . Reynolds for the clear manner in which the minute book and accounts were kept , and also for the excellent manner in which the report had been drawn . He must congratulate the lodge of instruction in having such a zealous Secretary . He was a great credit to them , and would bc to any mother lodge . Bro . G . Reynolds thanked the brethren for their

kindness , and said it was a great pleasure for him to know that the lodge of instruction had been so successful . The year 1884 was the best they had ever had . All the working of the lodge had been doubled , with one exception , viz ., the calling off , which was a good sign they all were willing to labour , and it was very gratifying to know that the lodge was well furnished , and had everything to work with . He felt with them all the great loss the Iodge had sustained in the death of their late worthy Preceptor , Bro . W . H .
