Craft Masonry.

The initiate and several visitors having responded Jto their respective toasts , Bro . Ferguson , I . P . M ., replied to the toast of "The Installing Master and Past Masters , " and said the Past Masters were always ready to put anything right if Ithere was any hitch in the work of the lodge ; they were very anxious for the welfare of the lodge , and to forward the lodge's best interests . AH the Past Masters of the Domatic Lodge were so acting . He bad had very great pleasure in installing the W . M . that evening , because he knew that under Bro . Hanes ' s rule the lodge would be carried on with satisfaction to the brethren and credit to the W . M . Bro . Hobbs , P . M ., also replied .

Bro . George Everett , P . M ., Treas ., replying to his share of the toast " The Treasurer and the Secretary , " said he should content himself in observing that he thanked the brethren very much indeed . He hoped the W . M . would have a happy and prosperous year . He was sure the lodge would go on and prosper as it had for many years . Bro . Price , P . M ., Sec , acknowledged the toast on behalf of himself , remarking that although the duties of Secretary of such a lodge were very arduous , he was happy to take the office on for the sake of the old Domatic Lodee .

Bro . Hanes , W . M ., announced that Bro . Price , P . M ., Sec , had been round the table with the list for the old people , and had received promises for nearly £ 90 . He hoped some brethren would yet make it up to £ 100 . Bro . Terry said he had just been up to the Old Masonians , who were holding a meeting upstairs , and although they had sent up £ 24 6 to the Girls' School in 1 S 9 S , had made up £ 90 for the Old People this year . The remaining toasts were afterwards given .

Royal Brunswick Lodge , No . 732 . The annual installation meeting of the brethren of the above lodge was held at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on the 12 th inst . The lodge was opened by the W . M ., Bro . W . Bennett , P . M ., Prov . G . Stwd ., and there was a large attendance of members of the lodge and of brethren of other lodges in the province . The chief business of the meeting was the installation of Bro . H . G . Burghope as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by the retiring W . M ., Bro . W . Bennett . appreciation of the admirable manner in which he had carried out his duties during the past year . On the termination of the lodge business , the brethren adjourned to the banqueting room , where they sat down to an elegant banquet , suppliel by Messrs . Booth and Son , of East-street . The newly-installed W . M ., Bro . H . G . Burghope , presided , and was supported by the Past Masters and several officers of the Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge . The customary loyal toasts were duly honoured .

The W . M . submitted "The Queen and the Craft" and "The Most Worshipful Grand Master , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales . " The W . M . then gave " The Officers of Grand Lodge , Present and Past , " to which Bro . Alfred King , Mus . Doc , G . Org ., responded . Bro . F . J . Bevis proposed "The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master , H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught ; the Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . the Right Hon . Sir W . Y . Marriott , Q . C , Past Grand Deacon ; and the Officers

of Provincial Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " Bros . B . Burfield , M . Williams , and the Prov . G . Secretary replied . In submitting the toast of the evening— "The W . M . "—the I . P . M ., Bro . W . Bennett , Prov . G . Stwd ., congratulated Bro . H . G . Burghope upon his high position in the lodge , and the brethren of the lodge upon having such a worthy W . M . He said they all knew Bro . Burghope as an excellent Mason , and were all well acquainted with the thoroughly admirable manner in which he had carried out the duties of the offices

with which he had already been entrusted . ( Applause . ) Two years ago Bro . Burghope was fully equal to the work of W . M ., and he regarded him as one who was able and willing to carry out the duties of his high office . ( Applause . ) He heartily wished him happiness and prosperity during the year he occupied the chair , and assured him he could confidently rely upon the assistance of the Past Misters of the lodge . He was convinced their ( W . M . was one who would faithfully and zealously promote the high principles of Freemasonry .

The W . M ., on rising to respond , was received with enthusiastic and prolonged applause . Looking back upon his comparatively short career—eight years—as a Freeniason , he said it was difficult for him to realise the great responsibilities of the high office which had been conferred upon him , and he naturally felt some trepidation in endeavouring to follow in the footsteps of the excellent Worshipful Masters who had hitheito been honoured with the confidence of the brethren of the lodge . He had ,

however put his hand to the plough , and did not intend to look back . ( Applause . ) He was strong in resolve to do his best for Freemasonry in general , and to promote the interests j '•R ? ya' Brunsw , ' ck Lodge . He was convinced he would receive the support and advice of the Past Masters , and the hearty good feeling of every member of the lodge . With health and strength granted him , he would do his utmost to emulate the examples of the eminent Worshipful Masters who had preceded him , and to hand down the traditions of the lodge to his successor as pure and unsullied as he had received them . ( Applause . )

Bro . Horton Ledger , P . M ., gave "The W . Ms , of Lodges in the Province , " to which Bros . Noble Edwards , Cecil Somers Clarke , and Ernest Cox responded . ' * The Visitors , " proposed by the VV . M ., received replies from Bros . P . Alliston and -sharman . The W . M . also submitted " The Past Masters and Officers , Present and Past , of the Lodge , " which Bros . W . Bennett , l . P . M . ; H . Manwaring , S . W . ; J . Colbourne , ¦* c . ; and J . H . Smith , P . M ., Stwd . acknowledged . The Tyler ' s toast completed the proceedings .

During the evening a pleasing programme of music was sustained , under the "irection of Bro . F . Clements ( organist of the lodge ) , by Miss Maud Bond , Miss Alice 'oli-nan , Miss Maud Poole , Bros . O . Tristram , F . Clements , and W . F . Booth Wocalists ) , and Mr . Stanley Crook ( violinist ) . Bro . E . A . Wallis also contributed the Mute obligate to one of Miss Maud Bond ' s songs , and the duties of accompanist were in the able hands of Bro . W . N . Roe , P . P . G . O .

Cooksey , an elder brother of the W . M ., and a Prov . Grand Officer of Sussex , sent a telegram regretting that he was unable to attend through . indisposition .

M ., Bro . T . W . Mogford , to the Installing Master , the W . M ., who performed the installation ceremony in an efficient and impressive manner . The W . M . elect was installed , and then proceeded to invest Bro . J . L . Miller as l . P . M . The Installed Masters present saluted the W . M ., and the board was then closed . The brethren were re-admitted , and saluted the W . M . in the Three Degrees , under the able

guidance of the D . of C , Bro . Geo . Grimes , P . M . The investiture of officers then took place as follows : Bros . C . E . Gilbert , S . W . ; Geo . Jackson Crow , J . The Installing Master , gave the three addresses with an impressive dignity , which won universal approbation . The ballot was then taken for Messrs . G . F . Gibbs and Geo . E . James , and on it proving favourable in each case , the candidates were initiated by the W . M . The correspondence was read by the acting Secretary , after which the lodge was closed .

The brethren adjourned to the Drill Hall , where a well-provided banquet was laid out . The usual toasts were given . "The Queen and the Craft" was followed by "The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of VVales . "

"The M . W . Pro G . M ., the Earl Amherst ; the R . W . Deputy G . M ., the Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " having been proposed , Bro . W . A . Scurrah , P . G . Std . Br ., replied on behalf of the Grand Officers . He alluded to the late Pro G . M ., the Earl of Lathom , and to the great loss the Craft had sustained by his death . He traced the early career of the lodge— 'now only eight years old—and said it had been very prosperous . He alluded to the character of the W . M ., his quiet energy , and said he felt assuredly good fortune would attend the lodge whilst under his wise rule .

The I . P . M ., in glowing terms , gave " The Health of the W . M . " The W . M . responded . He related his first impressions of Freemasonry , how they had widened and strengthened up to the present eventful period . He heartily thanked the brethren for the warm reception they had accorded him , and assured the lodge he would amply fulfil the duties of his high office . The W . M . gave the toast of "The Initiates , Bros . G . F . Gibbs and G . E . James , " and , speaking of his personal knowledge of them , he said he felt sure that they would be better men since they had become Masons , and he trusted they would live up to their new Masonic life .

The initiates replied . Bro . Gibbs , in a humorous speech , spoke of his future aspirations . Bro . James said he was a man of few words and he had little to say , which he proved by the paucity of his remarks . " The Installing Master and Past Masters , " the W . M . coupled with this toast the I . P . M ., and Past Masters Scott , Grimes , Hale . G . D . Moirford . and F . W . Moerford .

He took the opportunity of presenting to the l . P . M . the Past Master ' s jewel voted to him by the lodge for his valuable services during the past year , saying it was a great gratification to bestow so well-merited a reward . l . P . M . thanked the lodge for their handsome gift which he would ever gratefully prize . The Past Masters also spoke .

Bro . Capt . Claud Scott ( father of the lodge ) spoke of his initiate and pupil , the present W . M . Bro . Lieut . M . H . Hale alluded to members who had previously retired meeting again in Masonry and were extremely pleased to rejoin their former comrades . Bro . Grimes , as one of the founders , pointed out how the original seven members had developed into a flourishing lodge .

Bros . G . D . and T . W . Mogford also responded ; the latter stating the fact that during the eight years' existence of the lodge , £ 400 had been given to Masonic Charities . " The Visitors " was next proposed , the W . M . extending to them a hearty welcome . He said that Bro . Quarter-Master White had risen from the ranks , that he was well known for his valiant deeds at Omdurmin , Surgeon-Major Shannon , of the Royal Irish Fusiliers , alsoHillver . P . M .

Bros . White and Shannon replied . Bro . Hillyer said his only connection with the military was the fact that he was once a " child in arms . " In proposing " The Treasurer and Secretary , " the W . M . said the lodge valued their services , he also hoped that the other officers would loyally support him . * Bro . Miller replied on behalf of the Treasurer and Secretary , and the S . W . for "The Officers . " The Tyler ' s toast concluded the evening .

Habere Lodge , No . 2546 . An ordinary meeting was held at Frascati ' s Restaurant , Oxford-street , W ., on the ioth instant . Bro . Burns , W . M ., occupied the chair . Messrs . F . H . member . Bro . Dr . Roberts was pissed to the Second Degree , and Bros . Coventon , Griffiths , and Gay were raised to the Third Degree . A sum of 20 guineas was voted in aid of the Royal Medical Benevolent College , Epsom , and one guinea was given to the Home for the Dying . The lodge having been closed , the brethren and their guests afterwards dined together .

On behalf of the brethren of the lodje , the W . M . presented Bro . W . Bennett , P . M ., with a Past Master ' s gold jewel , in

appreciation of the admirable manner in which he had carried out his duties during the past year . On the termination of the lodge business , the brethren adjourned to the banqueting room , where they sat down to an elegant banquet , suppliel by Messrs . Booth and Son , of East-street . The newly-installed W . M ., Bro . H . G . Burghope , presided , and was supported by the Past Masters and several officers of the Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge . The customary loyal toasts were duly honoured .

The W . M . submitted "The Queen and the Craft" and "The Most Worshipful Grand Master , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales . " The W . M . then gave " The Officers of Grand Lodge , Present and Past , " to which Bro . Alfred King , Mus . Doc , G . Org ., responded . Bro . F . J . Bevis proposed "The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master , H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught ; the Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . the Right Hon . Sir W . Y . Marriott , Q . C , Past Grand Deacon ; and the Officers

of Provincial Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " Bros . B . Burfield , M . Williams , and the Prov . G . Secretary replied . In submitting the toast of the evening— "The W . M . "—the I . P . M ., Bro . W . Bennett , Prov . G . Stwd ., congratulated Bro . H . G . Burghope upon his high position in the lodge , and the brethren of the lodge upon having such a worthy W . M . He said they all knew Bro . Burghope as an excellent Mason , and were all well acquainted with the thoroughly admirable manner in which he had carried out the duties of the offices

with which he had already been entrusted . ( Applause . ) Two years ago Bro . Burghope was fully equal to the work of W . M ., and he regarded him as one who was able and willing to carry out the duties of his high office . ( Applause . ) He heartily wished him happiness and prosperity during the year he occupied the chair , and assured him he could confidently rely upon the assistance of the Past Misters of the lodge . He was convinced their ( W . M . was one who would faithfully and zealously promote the high principles of Freemasonry .

The W . M ., on rising to respond , was received with enthusiastic and prolonged applause . Looking back upon his comparatively short career—eight years—as a Freeniason , he said it was difficult for him to realise the great responsibilities of the high office which had been conferred upon him , and he naturally felt some trepidation in endeavouring to follow in the footsteps of the excellent Worshipful Masters who had hitheito been honoured with the confidence of the brethren of the lodge . He had ,

however put his hand to the plough , and did not intend to look back . ( Applause . ) He was strong in resolve to do his best for Freemasonry in general , and to promote the interests j '•R ? ya' Brunsw , ' ck Lodge . He was convinced he would receive the support and advice of the Past Masters , and the hearty good feeling of every member of the lodge . With health and strength granted him , he would do his utmost to emulate the examples of the eminent Worshipful Masters who had preceded him , and to hand down the traditions of the lodge to his successor as pure and unsullied as he had received them . ( Applause . )

Bro . Horton Ledger , P . M ., gave "The W . Ms , of Lodges in the Province , " to which Bros . Noble Edwards , Cecil Somers Clarke , and Ernest Cox responded . ' * The Visitors , " proposed by the VV . M ., received replies from Bros . P . Alliston and -sharman . The W . M . also submitted " The Past Masters and Officers , Present and Past , of the Lodge , " which Bros . W . Bennett , l . P . M . ; H . Manwaring , S . W . ; J . Colbourne , ¦* c . ; and J . H . Smith , P . M ., Stwd . acknowledged . The Tyler ' s toast completed the proceedings .

During the evening a pleasing programme of music was sustained , under the "irection of Bro . F . Clements ( organist of the lodge ) , by Miss Maud Bond , Miss Alice 'oli-nan , Miss Maud Poole , Bros . O . Tristram , F . Clements , and W . F . Booth Wocalists ) , and Mr . Stanley Crook ( violinist ) . Bro . E . A . Wallis also contributed the Mute obligate to one of Miss Maud Bond ' s songs , and the duties of accompanist were in the able hands of Bro . W . N . Cooksey , an elder brother of the W . M ., and a Prov . Grand Officer of Sussex , sent a telegram regretting that he was unable to attend through . indisposition .

The lodge was opened by the W . M ., and the minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . The W . M . elect , Bro . Geo . Walter Barter , S . W ., was presented by the I . P . M ., Bro . T . W . Mogford , to the Installing Master , the W . M ., who performed the installation ceremony in an efficient and impressive manner . The W . M . elect was installed , and then proceeded to invest Bro . J . L . Miller as l . P . M . The Installed Masters present saluted the W . M ., and the board was then closed . The brethren were re-admitted , and saluted the W . M . in the Three Degrees , under the able

The Installing Master , gave the three addresses with an impressive dignity , which won universal approbation . The ballot was then taken for Messrs . G . F . Gibbs and Geo . E . James , and on it proving favourable in each case , the candidates were initiated by the W . M . The correspondence was read by the acting Secretary , after which the lodge was closed .

The brethren adjourned to the Drill Hall , where a well-provided banquet was laid out . The usual toasts were given . "The Queen and the Craft" was followed by "The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of VVales . "

"The M . W . Pro G . M ., the Earl Amherst ; the R . W . Deputy G . M ., the Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " having been proposed , Bro . W . A . Scurrah , P . G . Std . Br ., replied on behalf of the Grand Officers . He alluded to the late Pro G . M ., the Earl of Lathom , and to the great loss the Craft had sustained by his death . He traced the early career of the lodge— 'now only eight years old—and said it had been very prosperous . He alluded to the character of the W . M ., his quiet energy , and said he felt assuredly good fortune would attend the lodge whilst under his wise rule .

The I . P . M ., in glowing terms , gave " The Health of the W . M . " The W . M . responded . He related his first impressions of Freemasonry , how they had widened and strengthened up to the present eventful period . He heartily thanked the brethren for the warm reception they had accorded him , and assured the lodge he would amply fulfil the duties of his high office . The W . M . gave the toast of "The Initiates , Bros . G . F . Gibbs and G . E . James , " and , speaking of his personal knowledge of them , he said he felt sure that they would be better men since they had become Masons , and he trusted they would live up to their new Masonic life .

The initiates replied . Bro . Gibbs , in a humorous speech , spoke of his future aspirations . Bro . James said he was a man of few words and he had little to say , which he proved by the paucity of his remarks . " The Installing Master and Past Masters , " the W . M . coupled with this toast the I . P . M ., and Past Masters Scott , Grimes , Hale . G . D . Moirford . and F . W . Moerford .

He took the opportunity of presenting to the l . P . M . the Past Master ' s jewel voted to him by the lodge for his valuable services during the past year , saying it was a great gratification to bestow so well-merited a reward . l . P . M . thanked the lodge for their handsome gift which he would ever gratefully prize . The Past Masters also spoke .

Bro . Capt . Claud Scott ( father of the lodge ) spoke of his initiate and pupil , the present W . M . Bro . Lieut . M . H . Hale alluded to members who had previously retired meeting again in Masonry and were extremely pleased to rejoin their former comrades . Bro . Grimes , as one of the founders , pointed out how the original seven members had developed into a flourishing lodge .

Bros . G . D . and T . W . Mogford also responded ; the latter stating the fact that during the eight years' existence of the lodge , £ 400 had been given to Masonic Charities . " The Visitors " was next proposed , the W . M . extending to them a hearty welcome . He said that Bro . Quarter-Master White had risen from the ranks , that he was well known for his valiant deeds at Omdurmin , Surgeon-Major Shannon , of the Royal Irish Fusiliers , alsoHillver . P . M .

Bros . White and Shannon replied . Bro . Hillyer said his only connection with the military was the fact that he was once a " child in arms . " In proposing " The Treasurer and Secretary , " the W . M . said the lodge valued their services , he also hoped that the other officers would loyally support him . * Bro . Miller replied on behalf of the Treasurer and Secretary , and the S . W . for "The Officers . " The Tyler ' s toast concluded the evening .

Habere Lodge , No . 2546 . An ordinary meeting was held at Frascati ' s Restaurant , Oxford-street , W ., on the ioth instant . Bro . Burns , W . M ., occupied the chair . Messrs . F . H . member . Bro . Dr . Roberts was pissed to the Second Degree , and Bros . Coventon , Griffiths , and Gay were raised to the Third Degree . A sum of 20 guineas was voted in aid of the Royal Medical Benevolent College , Epsom , and one guinea was given to the Home for the Dying . The lodge having been closed , the brethren and their guests afterwards dined together .
