the toast of his health , proposed briefly , but cordially , by the W . M ., said he need not say anything about the prosperity of the lodge . The first time he visited the lodge was jn a small school-room at Bisley , and now he rejoiced to see they were growing too large for their present quarters . He was sure that not only Masons , but Woking itself , were anxious to see a Public Hall which would be able to accommodate them . So far as Masonry in the f-rovince was

concerned , those who were at the gathering on the preceding Tuesday when the Noel Money Lodge was consecrated would say it was progressing . He congratulated himself most heartily in representing such a noble province as Surrey . At each Festival Surrey was always well to the front in that which had been that night referred to as the raison d'etre oi Masonry . He thanked them heartily , and hoped to be with them on many future occasions .

"The Deputy Prov . G . M ., and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers . Present and Past , " were next honoured , Bros . Tyler , P . P . G . D ., and Major Collins , P . P . S . G . D ., acknowledging the toast in suitable terms . Bro . C . F . Passmore , I . P . M .. in giving "The Health of the VVorshipful Master , " said he was sure no brother welcomed Bro . Webb into the chair more heartily than he did , or with more mingled feelings . Their Master was

thoroughly popular in that lodge , in the Abbey Lodge , and in fact wherever hewas known . Although this toast needed no words from him , vet they should welcome it in a special manner , as Bro . Webb was the first joining member to reach the chair of the lodge . Bro . James Webb , W . M ., who met with a hearty reception , said he hardly knew how to thank the brethren for their reception of the toast . As the I . P . M . had said he

( the W . M . ) was the first joining member to reach the chair in that lodge , which first met at a small school-room at Bisley , but which was now located in a comfortable hall . It had been the great ambition of his life to be installed W . M ., and he could safely say he wou'd do his best to keep up the prestige of the lodge as in the past . He had so many friends around him that he was almost overwhelmed . Theirs was practically a small lodge , and he hoped to have

plenty of woik during the year . He hoped everything would go on in the most amicable manner during his term o ! office , and that with the assistance of his efficient officers the lodge would be kept up to its present standard of excellence . " The I . P . M . " was next proposed by the W . M ., and Bro . Passmore , I . P . M ., in responding , said that anything he had done in the shape of work he had put his

heart into it , as he felt that , being connected with the Emulation Lodgeof Instruction , meeting there , he ought to show credit to the Preceptor , Bro . Black , to whom all credit was due . Bro . R . Eve , P . G . Treas ., replied for "The Visitors , " and said he regretted he could not attend earlier to witness the installation , which he had been told was rendered in a most efficient manner . He was pleased to find the lodge

increasing in numbers and in influence , and that they were doing good work in Surrey . 1 he Masonic hall in which they met was open at least once a week for Masonic purpurposes all the year round , which showed the amount of work done . He always felt that Masonry was a system of morality with no pretension to religion except in the abstract . They all knew that wherever there was true morality , religion was not far off , and they also knew how

it was exemplified in their lodges . Masonry was founded on the broadest basis . They excluded none , but rec-ived all who were ready to acknowledge their trust in the Great Father of all . Other brethren also responded , after which Bro . J . B . Lancaster , P . M ., Sec , returned thanks for

the toast of his health , and also that of his colleague , the Treasurer . Bro . Littleboy , S . W ., effectively replied for "The Officers , " and the pleasant proceedings terminated . Amongst those who assisted Bro . Passmore , I . P . M ., in tne musical arrangements were Bros . Squire , Whitburn , Eve , Welch , Hoey , and others .
