Simpson had held the position of First Principal some years ago ; but he ( the speaker ) was not then a member . "The Health of the W . M . " was duly honoured . The proposer of the toast , in the course of his remarks , mentioned that the W . M . ivas on the eve of departing for a long journey , namely , to Japan . The numerous friends and brethren of Bro , Fillingham would wish him boil voyage and a happy return to England . The W . M . had filled the chair of No . 23 S for two years , and in that position had won golden opinions by his affability and geniality .

The Worshipful Master having suitably replied , gave the toast of " The Master Elect . " He said that he congratulated Bro . Dodson upon his unanimous election that evening , and he ( the speaker ) regretted that in consequence ot absence from England he would not be able to install him . However , he had no doubt that the ceremony would be carried out impressively , as became a lodge bearine so distinguished a name , and that the W . M . would have a most successful year of office .

This pledge having been received with acclamation , the Mister elect responded at length . In the course of his reply he said that he had a warm regard for the Prince Leopold Lodge , because his deceased elder brother was a shining light in it . He had heard that his Bro . J . H . Dodson had acquitted himself well as W . M . an d subsequently as Treasurer . It would be his pride to enhance the lodge in every way . He belonged to the Dalhousie ( Craft ) Lodge , and from its ranks he had brought several members and he hoped to bring others during his year of office .

Bro . F . F . Bonney ' s health was drunk as the " Joining Member , " and the proceedings terminated . During the evening wit and pathos reigned , thanks to the versatile exertions of Bros . Fillingham , Dodson , Driver , and others .
