B . being conferred . Bro . Trollope dwelt at length on the many good qualities and excellent works done by the late Bro . Gavin Pocock , and proposed that a letter thanking Bro . Crawford Pocock for the handsome present be
sent . On the proposition of Bro . Rossiter—in the absence of Bro . Markwick—a Past Master ' s jewel was voted to the W . M . for his services to the lodge during the past year . The W . M . expressed his sincere thanks and obligation to the officers and members of the lodge for the many kindnesses he had received _ from them , and also for that further mark of their esteem . Two candidates were proposed , and the lodge was closed .
JERSEY . Prince of Wales Lodge ( No . 1003 ) . —The installation of this , the most opulent and numerous lodge in the province was held at the Masonic Temple , Stopfordroad , St . Helier ' s , on Wednesday , the 4 th inst . Besides this most important ceremony , quite an imposing array of other business stood on the agenda . There were present :

Several communications having been read , and other routine business having been disposed of , Bro . E . Oldridge , the W . M . elect , was then presented to the W . M ., who vacated the chair in favour of Bro . H . Elliott , P . M ., who at once proceeded with the installation . Having addressed the
brethren , the W . M . elect , Bro . E . Oldridge , S . W ., was then duly obligated as Master elect . A numerous Board of Past Masters having been formed , Bro . Oldridge was formally installed into the chair of K . S ., and was saluted and congratulated by the members of the Board . The delivery of the addresses to the W . M ., Wardens , and brethren was very effective , and
the investiture of the officers was gone through by the W . M . with all thc perfection of an experienced professor . At certain stages of the ceremony the musical talent of several members was very appropriately and effectively called into requisition . A vote of thanks was proposed and unanimously passed to Bro . Elliott , P . M ., for the arduous task he had , as l . P . M ., performed that evening with an
eloquence and easiness of address that captivated all who heard him . A Past Master ' s jewel was voted to the retiring W . M ., Bro . Godfrey , of the value of 10 guineas . All business being ended , the lodge was closed . The brethren adjourned to Bro . Bree ' s , Stopford Hotel , where , on this occasion , the installation banquet had been
ordered . Ninty-five of the brethren sat down in the spacious and magnificent dining hall of this renowned Hotel , and ably discussed the menu . The banquet and wines were worthy alike of the hospitality of the lodge and of the well-known catering abilities of Bro . E . Bree , whose house is too well known by the many to require any further
encomium . After the menu had been dispo ed of , The W . M ., who presided , proposed " The Queen and the Craft , " which was drunk most loyally , and musically acknowledged , as was also that of "The M . W . Grand Master , H . R . H , the Prince of Wales , " and "The Pro G . M ., the Earl of Carnarvon ; the Deputy G . M ., the Earl of
Lathom j and the Grand Officers , Present and Past . " After which , in the same manner acknowledged , came that of "Bro . Col . E . C . Malet de Carteret , P . G . M . j " Dr . Le Cronier , D . P . G . M ., and the Officers , Present and Past , of the P . G . Lodge of Jersey . " Then followed "The Visitors , " "The Worshipful Master , " "The Installing Master , " "The Past Masters , " "The Officers , " "The Stewards , " and the Tyler ' s toast .
Provincial Meetings.
Thc proceedings of the evening were greatly enhanced by the musical talents , vocal and instrumental , of some of the brethren . The menu cards and programme cards were very tastily got up , and reflect great credit on Bro . George Kenning ,
from whose immense and varied stock they had been obtained . This successful and harmonious gathering broke up at a late hour , and all were agreed that they had never before been present at a more enjoyable Masonic gathering .

respectively by Bros . Rocca , Eaton , Clark , and Allison . The charge was delivered by Bro . Col . Rocca . The acting W . Master proposed a vote of thanks to their first W . M ., Bro . Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie , P . G . M ., for the very valuable gift he had made to the lodge in presenting the whole set of officers' collars and handsome silver jewels , which was seconded by Bro . Major Allison . It was proposed by
Bro . Col . Aspland , and seconded by Bro . Col . Eaton" That the thanks ot the brethren of the lodge be accorded to Bros . Col . H . L . Rocca and J . Barlow for the handsome presents they had made to the lodge conjointly , namely , an exquisite set of solid silver working tools , mounted with ivory , and the whole fitted into a rich case ; a most
handsome Holy Bible , and solid silver square and compasses , " & c . It was proposed by Bro . Col . H . L . Rocca , seconded by Bro . Col . Clark , and carried with acclamation— "That the best thanks of this lodge be conveyed to Bro . Walter 0 . Pettitt , P . G . Organist , for the admirable manner in which he conducted the musical arrangements on the day of con-S 3 cration . " All the above propositions were recorded on the
minutes . " Hearty good wishes" being expressed from the visiting brethren , and all business being completed , the lodge was closed . We understand in future the meetings of the lodge will be held at the Victoria Hotel in a suite of rooms which has lately been adapted for the purpose by Bro . C . O . Wilkinson , the manager . Grand Officers were marshalled out of the lodge to their retiring
room , and all business being completed , and " Hearty good wishes '' expressed from the numerous guests , the lodge was closed . 'Ihe brethren adjourned to a banquet subsequently held . During the evening a handsome and costly Past Master's jewel was presented to the I . P . M ., Bro . Dawson , which bore the following inscription : " Presented by the brethren

Several communications having been read , and other routine business having been disposed of , Bro . E . Oldridge , the W . M . elect , was then presented to the W . M ., who vacated the chair in favour of Bro . H . Elliott , P . M ., who at once proceeded with the installation . Having addressed the
brethren , the W . M . elect , Bro . E . Oldridge , S . W ., was then duly obligated as Master elect . A numerous Board of Past Masters having been formed , Bro . Oldridge was formally installed into the chair of K . S ., and was saluted and congratulated by the members of the Board . the investiture of the officers was gone through by the W . M . with all thc perfection of an experienced professor . At certain stages of the ceremony the musical talent of several members was very appropriately and effectively called into requisition . A vote of thanks was proposed and unanimously passed to Bro . Elliott , P . M ., for the arduous task he had , as l . P . M ., performed that evening with an
eloquence and easiness of address that captivated all who heard him . A Past Master ' s jewel was voted to the retiring W . M ., Bro . Godfrey , of the value of 10 guineas . All business being ended , the lodge was closed . The brethren adjourned to Bro . Bree ' s , Stopford Hotel , where , on this occasion , the installation banquet had been
ordered . Ninty-five of the brethren sat down in the spacious and magnificent dining hall of this renowned Hotel , and ably discussed the menu . The banquet and wines were worthy alike of the hospitality of the lodge and of the well-known catering abilities of Bro . E . Bree , whose house is too well known by the many to require any further
encomium . After the menu had been dispo ed of , The W . M ., who presided , proposed " The Queen and the Craft , " which was drunk most loyally , and musically acknowledged , as was also that of "The M . W . Grand Master , H . R . H , the Prince of Wales , " and "The Pro G . M ., the Earl of Carnarvon ; the Deputy G . M ., the Earl of
Lathom j and the Grand Officers , Present and Past . " After which , in the same manner acknowledged , came that of "Bro . Col . E . C . Malet de Carteret , P . G . M . j " Dr . Le Cronier , D . P . G . M ., and the Officers , Present and Past , of the P . G . Lodge of Jersey . " Then followed "The Visitors , " "The Worshipful Master , " "The Installing Master , " "The Past Masters , " "The Officers , " "The Stewards , " and the Tyler ' s toast .
Provincial Meetings.
Thc proceedings of the evening were greatly enhanced by the musical talents , vocal and instrumental , of some of the brethren . The menu cards and programme cards were very tastily got up , and reflect great credit on Bro . George Kenning ,
from whose immense and varied stock they had been obtained . This successful and harmonious gathering broke up at a late hour , and all were agreed that they had never before been present at a more enjoyable Masonic gathering .

Bro . Col . Aspland , and seconded by Bro . Col . Eaton" That the thanks ot the brethren of the lodge be accorded to Bros . Col . H . L . Rocca and J . Barlow for the handsome presents they had made to the lodge conjointly , namely , an exquisite set of solid silver working tools , mounted with ivory , and the whole fitted into a rich case ; a most
handsome Holy Bible , and solid silver square and compasses , " & c . It was proposed by Bro . Col . H . L . Rocca , seconded by Bro . Col . Clark , and carried with acclamation— "That the best thanks of this lodge be conveyed to Bro . Walter 0 . Pettitt , P . G .
