Ihe music was bright , and included a specially written
Masonic jubilee Valse , dedicated to tue founders of the Royal Victorian Jubilee Lodge , No . 2184 , by the composer , bro . T . Bidgood , which was encored . At the conclusion ot the supper , which was presided over most genially by Bro . J . lerry the patron ot the ball "The Health of her Gracious Majesty the Cjueen , " was enthusiastically received . Bro . LEWIS , P . He hoped that successful as the lirst ball was , others would follow more successful still , and so enable them to largely augment the tunds of their excellent Institutions .
Bro . IERRY next , in along and humorous speech gave "The Ladies . " And Bro . MILLS gavea spirited response on their behalf . "The Health of the Chairman" was drunk with musical honours , and tiro . IERKY eloquently responded , giving an able digest of admirable work done by the three Institutions , and particularly of that tor Aged Frce . nasons
and their Widows . This was listened to with great interest especially by the ladies , who seemed highly gratified with the good work dene by Freemasons , among which the chairman cited 173 old men receiving £ 6920 , and 202 old women receiving £ 6464 , which with the additional widows it has been determined to elect , and those receiving half their late husband's annuities , give a total outlay , irrespective of working expenses , amounting to , £ , ' 14 , 600 per annum .
Thanks to the generosity of the brethren the Stewards brought up the sum of £ 18 , 700 , and he ventured to say they would have to travel many miles betore they would find any Institution which can raise such sums , and which , in all probability , before May would approach the magnificent total of £ 23 , 000 . Dancing was resumed and continued till the small hours of the morning . The affair was a great success , and in every way most enjoyable .

The dancing was held in the Pillar Room , and that handsome apartment presented a splendid spectacle , the brethren being permitced , by dispensation , to appear in Cralt clothing and jewels .
The PRESIDENT ailuding to the
fact of its being the Jubilee year of her leign , and haidly any one present could hope to see the Jubilee year of another Sovereign . " The Stewards " were next toasted , Bro . TERRY saying they comprised members of two lodges , 1472 , and 1571 , assisted by other members of the Order , and explaining the three Institutions which the Ciaft supported , and to which the proceeds of the ball would be devoted .
Bro . LEWIS , P . M ., responded , and whilst thanking the ladies and brethren for their support , said there would be something substantial to hand over to their worthy chairman , who was the Secretary of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution .
