S . o f ' the chapter , Bro . Edward Luky , i 8 ° . After

which the newly-installed M . W . S . appointed the following officers for the year : Bros . James D . Terson , P . M . W . S ., Prelate and Recorder ; S . J . Flood , ist Gen . ; G- F . Smythe , 2 nd Gen . ; C . C . Walter , G . Marshal ; John Bourdeaux , Raphael ; William Pearse , 1 st Herald ; Gen . F . Cuming , 2 nd Herald ; William J . Smith , Capt . of Gd . ; W . G . Kennett , Organist ; and John Usborne Terson , Director of Ceremonies . Bro . Edward Lukey , M . W . S ., was elected Treasurer .

The M . W . S . thanked the brethren for the honour they had conferred upon him , and proposed a cordial vote of thanks to the Supreme Council , 33 , for attending on that occasion . He further proposed that the consecrating officers be elected honorary members of the chapter . The LIEUT . GRAND C OMMANDER acknowledged the compliment , and congratulated the members of the Hubert de Burgh Chapter on the perfect manner in which the chapter had been arranged .

Votes of thanks were also passed to various brethren for presentations to the chapter , and letters were directed to be written to Mrs . Terson , Miss Smythe , and Miss Bordeaux , thanking them for working the beautiful altar , pedestal , and ladder cloths . It may be added that the whole of the arrangements in connection with the chapter were carried out under the responsibility of Bro . J . D . Terson . We should add the only chapter in Kent has been held at Canterbury .

The chapter was then closed , and the illustrious , excellent , and perfect brethren sat down to a most recherche banquet , under the presidency of the M . W . S ., at which nearly all the brethren were present . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . The banquet was supplied by Bro . A . T . Dartnall , and gave the greatest satisfaction .

Previous to the consecration of the chapter , the members of the Supreme Council as well as several other brethren were entertained at luncheon , at the Harp Hotel , by the kind invitation of the M . W . S . designate . The chapter was furnished by Bro . George Kenning , 30 .

The annual assembly of this Grand Conclave was held on the 7 th inst ., at 16 a , Great Queen-st ., " Lincoln's Inn , when there were present Sir Knights W . R . Woodman , M . D ., P . G . Viceroy , and G . Treasurer , on the throne ; Thomas Cubitt , G . J . G ., as G . Viceroy ; C . F . Matier , l . G . Lancashire , as G . S . G . ; Frederic Wood , l . G . Kent , as G . J . G . ; Rev . H . Cummings , G . Sub . Prelate , as G . High Prelate ; John Mason , G . High Chancellor ;

The Grand Conclave was opened in Imperial form , and the minutes of the assembly of 1 st March , 1 S 86 , were read . The GRAND RECORDER called attention to the recommendations

contained in the Report of the Executive Committee , and proposed that Article VI . of the Statutes be amended by adding the words "Grand High Prelate" after Grand Viceroy , and to add at the end the words " and he must be a subscribing member to the General Funds of the Order . " That Article X . be amended by having the words " so long as they continue

subscribing members to the General Funds of the Order" added after " who" in the third line page 8 ; and that Grand Intendant Generals of Divisions shall take rank immediately after the members of the Grand Council ; and moved that the minutes of the assembly of March , 1886 , be confirmed with these alterations .

Sir Knight LEMON having seconded the motion , it was put , and carried unanimously . The following report of the Executive Committee was then read : — To the Grand Imperial Conclave of Knights of Rome and the Red Cross of Constantine K . H . S ., and Knights of St . John the Evangelist .

T . Orde-Powlett . The Most 111 . Grand Sovereign , Colonel Sir Francis tturdett , Bart ., has been pleased to appoint Sir Knight Castellan as Intendent

General of Bengal and it- ; Dependencies , Sir Knight Thos . B . Whytehead as Intendent General of North and East Yorkshire , and Sir Knight Belgrave Ninnis , Intendent General of the Island of Jamaica . All these sir knights have shown much zeal for the Order , and the Committee fully expect that the appointments will lead to good results in the several Divisions . The most III . Grand Sovereign was pleased to grant a warrant fort'ie "Invicta" Conclave to meet at Greenwich , but as he was unfortunately unable

to attend at the dedication , Sir Knight C . Fitzgerald Matier , Intendent General of Lancashire , very kindly undertook the duties of Consecrating Officer , and most ably peiformed the Ceremonies on the 2 nd , November last , and the thanks of Grand Conclave are due to him for his services on that occasion . The Grand Conclave will have to elect a Grand Viceroy in place of the Hon VV . T . Orde-Powlet , resigned , and the Grand Sovereign is pleased to recommend Sir Knight the Rii > ht Hon . Earl Ferrers , P . G .

General , for that important office , in which recommendation the Committee fully concur . The question of the position of Intendanls General has been brought to the notice of the Commiitee , and they beg to recommend that they shall take rank immediately after the Grand Council . The Committee also recommend that Article VI . of the new Statutes be amended by including the words Grand High Prelates after Grand Viceroy , and to add at the end of the paragraph , and he must be a subscribing member to the General Funds of the Order . Also in" Article X . after " who " to add " so long as they continue

WOODMAN then rose and said that a very pleasing duty devolved on him , that of nominating Col . Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., J . p , for re-election as Grand Sovereign , and he felt sure , although they all re ^

grelted Sir Francis s absence , they would unanimously accept his proposal . Sit Knight CUBITT seconded the nomination , and it was carried byacclani a . tion , and in accordance with the recommendation of the Grand Sovtrei gn Sir Knight the Earl Ferrers , P . G . CONSECRATION OF THE VERAN COUNCIL , ALLIED MASONIC DEGREES , No . 18 , READING .

On Monday , the 28 th ult ., a meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Greyfriars-road , for the purpose of consecrating the Veran Council , No . iS , Reading , under the authority of the Grand Council of the Allied Masonic Degrees of England and Wales and the Colonies and Dependencies of the British Crown . Among those present were Bros . Driver , Deputy G . M-J Matier , Past Deputy G . M . ; Gardner , G . Sec ; Edward Margrett ,

W . G . Flanagan , T . J . Pulley , W . W . Ridley , Wm . Ravenscroft , H . Creed , and C . B . Tubbs . Twelve duly qualified M . M . M . ' s were admitted to the Orders of St . Lawrence the Martyr and Knights of Constantinop le ) the quaint and interesting ceremonies being ably rendered by the W . redesignate , Bro . Edward Margrett , and the officers of the new council . The impressive and beautiful ceremony of consecration of the council followed , and was ably carried out by Bro . C . F . Matier , assisted by Bros . Charles

Stephenson and F . J . Ferguson . Bro . Edward Margrett was then duly installed as W . Fitzgerald Matier , Intendent General of Lancashire , very kindly undertook the duties of Consecrating Officer , and most ably peiformed the Ceremonies on the 2 nd , November last , and the thanks of Grand Conclave are due to him for his services on that occasion . The Grand Conclave will have to elect a Grand Viceroy in place of the Hon VV . T . Orde-Powlet , resigned , and the Grand Sovereign is pleased to recommend Sir Knight the Rii > ht Hon . General , for that important office , in which recommendation the Committee fully concur . The question of the position of Intendanls General has been brought to the notice of the Commiitee , and they beg to recommend that they shall take rank immediately after the Grand Council . The Committee also recommend that Article VI . of the new Statutes be amended by including the words Grand High Prelates after Grand Viceroy , and to add at the end of the paragraph , and he must be a subscribing member to the General Funds of the Order . Also in" Article X . after " who " to add " so long as they continue

On Monday , the 28 th ult ., a meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Greyfriars-road , for the purpose of consecrating the Veran Council , No . iS , Reading , under the authority of the Grand Council of the Allied Masonic Degrees of England and Wales and the Colonies and Dependencies of the British Crown . Among those present were Bros . Driver , Deputy G . M-J Matier , Past Deputy G . M . ; Gardner , G . Sec ; Edward Margrett ,

W . G . Flanagan , T . J . Pulley , W . W . Ridley , Wm . Ravenscroft , H . Creed , and C . B . Tubbs . Twelve duly qualified M . M . M . ' s were admitted to the Orders of St . Lawrence the Martyr and Knights of Constantinop le ) the quaint and interesting ceremonies being ably rendered by the W . redesignate , Bro . Edward Margrett , and the officers of the new council . The impressive and beautiful ceremony of consecration of the council followed , and was ably carried out by Bro . C . F . Matier , assisted by Bros . Charles

Stephenson and F . J . Ferguson . Bro . Edward Margrett was then duly installed as W .
