A Committee was formed towards the close of last week for the purpose of organising a fund for the relief cf Ihe sufferers by the terrible fire in the Edgware-road , when five of the inmates vvere burned to death and five others vvere seriously injured , while almost all the assistants

As the weather vvas exceptionally fine , the crowds of people assembled were enormous , the reception given to the members of the Royal Family being most enthusiastic .
A concert was given in the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday , the 31 st ult ., by Bro . Wilhelm Kuhe , Past G . Organist , the occasion being especially attractive as it was the first of the two farewell appearances which vvill be made by the celebrated Swedish songstress , Madame Christine Nilsson , on her retirement from the lyric stage . There was consequently a very large audience , from whom the great artiste received a most enthusiastic greeting .
Madame Nilsson was called upon to repeat the first and third of her contributions , and substituted for the first Schubert ' s "Serenade , " and , for the latter , "I dreamt that I dwelt in marble halls .
