adjourned to the banquet , at which Bro . Woolley presided , the Senior and Junior Wardens occupying the vice-chairs . The repast was well served , after which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured . " The Health of the Provincial Officers " was proposed by Bro . Joyce , who expressed regret at the absence of Col . Tudor through ill-health . Bro . T . E . Fowke , Prov . G * D . C , responded .

" The Health ot the VV . M ., Bro . Woolley , " was heartily drunk , as was also that of Bro . Mottram . Bro . Nutt next proposed " The Past Masters , " congratulating the lodge upon the presence of Bro . Spilsbury , the father of the lodge . Bro . Spilsbury , in responding , referred to the delight he felt in seeing that the lodge , which he had known in adversity , was now in such a prosperous condition , and that so many young members were taking an interest in

Freemasonry . Several other toasts were given , the proceedings being enlivened by some capital songs by Alessrs . J . Follows and J . Baker , Air . Jackson presiding at the pianoforte .

HARROGATE Harrogate and Claro Lodge ( No . 1001 ) . —This lodge , which was formed 21 years ago , and has just attained its majority , held its first meeting at the Prince of Wales Hotel , then the Brunswick , afterwards in the Afasonic-rooms , Parliament-street ; but now meets in the Masonic Hall , Avenue-road . On this occasion Bro . A . J . Bodman was duly installed as W . AL by P . AL

of the lodge , to the LP . M ., as a slight token of the respect and esteem in which he was held by the brethren . Four gentlemen were then proposed for initiation . Bro . T . Ayling , P . AL , was unanimously re-elected as a member of the Charity Committee to represent this lodge . After many expressions of "Hearty good wishes " the lodge was closed in due form . The brethren then adjourned to the banqueting ball ,

where an excellent menu had been prepared , and was capitally served by Bro . Hart , of the Black Horse Hotel . The W . M . presided , and was ably assisted by his officers . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured and responded to . The toasts of "The Provincial Grand Alaster , Lord Holmesdale , " " The Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Eastes , " and " The Provincial Officers

Past and Present , " proposed in a very able manner by Bro . Des Barres , P . M ., met with a very hearty reception . Bros . Band , P . G . A . P ., and Browning , P . G . Steward , responded . "The Health of the W . M . " was next proposed by Bro . Chambers , I . P . AL , and responded to in a very neat speech . "The Masonic Charities " was proposed by Bro . Ayling ,

who announced that Bro . Band , P . AL , had accepted the office of Steward to represent his lodge at the forthcoming festival in connection with the Boys' School , and whose exertions had already been rewarded to the extent of nearly 50 guineas by the brethren who were then present . Bro . E . Kirby , in a very feeling speech , responded , his remarks being received with great applause , hoping that

Bro . Band would be able to exceed the highest sum ever taken by any Steward from this lodge , viz ., £ 169 , by Bro . A . H . Des Barres in 1 S 79 . Bro . Band then thanked the brethren for the very hearty manner they had supported him on this occasion . " The Installing Alaster " was next proposed by the VV . AL , who congratulated him on the success which had

crowned his efforts and the way in which he had performed the ceremony that day . "The Visitors" were next " proposed by Bro . Harrison , P . M ., Chap . Bro . Emmerson , P . M ., P . P . G . J . W ., responded . Bro . Hast , S . W ., next gave the toast of "The P . M . 's of the Lord Warden Lodge , " and at the same time said

that not only must the brethren look to the Alaster for instruction and assistance , but also to the P . M . 's , whose zeal for the Craft had been recognised by the number of them who are now , or have been Provincial Grand Officers . Bro . Usher , P . M ., suitably responded . The Worshipful Alaster in proposing " The Health of the Officers , " said he had great cause to congratulate

himself upon having so many efficient brethren to choose from . He felt confident that he should have the hearty co-operation of all during the ensuing year . The S . W ., in responding , thanked the W . AL for the kindly terms in which the toast had been couched , and said the officers intended to show by their work that the high opinion the W . M . had expressed of them should be justified .

The official list closed with the Tylers toast and the brethren soon after separated . During the evening the proceedings were greatly enhanced by the excellent singing of Bros . Fricker and Higgins and Mr . Pitt . Air . Fricker , jun ., very ably presided at the piano . Great credit is due to Bro . and Airs . Hart for the very

admirable way in which the banquet was served , and too much praise cannot be given to the Lodge Committee for the efficient arrangements made for the comfort of the visitors . Altogether the meeting was considered the very best that had been held in connection with the lodge since its formation . The jewel was manutactured by Bro . George Kenning , of Little Britain , London .

LEWES . —Pelham Lodge ( No . 1303 ) . —The annual installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Freemasons' Hall , on Friday , the 24 th ult . The W . AL , Bra T . R . White , presided , and among those present were Bros . G . Stone , S . W . ; G . Bishop , J . W . ; R . Crosskey , P . AL , Treas . ; J . C . Lucas , P . M ., Sec ; R . H . Ellroan , P . M ., J . D . ; VV . Tanner , P . AL ; Steadman , P . M .: and

STOCKTON . —Fraternity Lodge ( No . 1418 ) . — Thc annual installation festival of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 23 rd ult ., in . the Masonic Hall , when there was a large attendance of brethren . Bro . Thos . Bowman was installed in the chair of K . S ,, the ceremony being impressively performed by Bro . J . M . Pickering , P . M . Thereafter the new W . M . appointed and invested the following

officers : Bros . John Reed , LP . AL ; E . F . Wallace , S . W . ; S . E . Thorrold , J . W . ; W . J . Watson , Treas . ; J . Burn , S . D . ; R . Appleton , J . D . ; j . M . Pickering , P . beautifully illuminated address in recognition of his servicss to the lodge during the past year . The lodge having beun duly closed , the brethren dined together , and during the course of the after dinner proceedings the health of Bro . Bowman , who is very popular , was heartily drunk .

The lodge having been opened in due form , the minutes of last lodge were read and confirmed . The W . M . vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Hunt , who rehearsed the

ceremony of installation , Bro . Stephens being duly installed into the chair of K . S . according to ancient custom . Bro . Guterboch was elected W . AL for the ensuing week , and the officers appointed in rotation . The report and balancesheet for the past session was read and adopted . All Masonic business being ended , the lodge was closed in due form and perfect harmony .

CORINTHIAN LODGE ( No . 1382 ) . —This lodge met on Tuesday , the 21 st ult ., at the George Hotel , Cubitt Town , E . Present : Bros . H . Doring , W . M . ; Penniston , S . W . ; Raiker , J . Lodge was duly opened , and the ceremony of initiation was admirably worked , Bro . Allen candidate . Bro . Allen next was tested as a candidate for the Second Degree , and retired . Lodge was advanced , and Bro . Smith was questioned for the superior Degree , and lodge was duly opened up by Bro . Alillington , P . M ., who next worked the third ceremony capitally . We were very pleased with the order

and discipline of the lodge under the efficient guidance of Bro . J . Delves , the esteemed Preceptor . We are glad to learn that the newly-established Alasonic Charitable Association is highly successful , and held its first ballot last meeting , when Bro . Cooper , who attended for thc first time after three years' absence , having joined , proved the

successful brother in the ballot . Brethren who desire to take part in this good work are invited to attend on any Tuesday evening and see the indefatigable Hon . Secretary , Bro . S . G . Bonner . Bros . Smith and Allen , both of the mother lodge , were duly elected members of the lodge of instruction , and those brethren expressed their thanks .

A letter from the family of the late Lord Alayor , returning thanks for vote of sympathy , was read , and ordered to be entered on the minutes . Lodge was closed in peace and harmony .

COVENT GARDEN LODGE ( No . 1614 ) . —At the usual weekly meeting of this lodge , held at the Bedford Head Hotel , Alaidenlane , Covent Garden , W . C , on the 23 rd ult ., there were present : Bros . Rhodes having offered himself as a candidate for initiation , the VV . AI . rehearsed the ceremony . Bro . Farwig worked the Second Section of this Lecture . Bro . Farwig proposed that Bro . Henry , S . W ., be W . AI . for the ensuing week ;

seconded by Bro . J . Gumming , J . W ., and carried unanimously . The W . M . elect then appointed his officers in rotation . Bro . G . Reynolds , Sec , proposed that a vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes of this lodge of instruction to Bro . E . Farwig , P . M ., for his kindness in acting as Preceptor that evening in the absence of Bro . W . C . Smith ;

seconded by Bro . J . Cumming , J . VV ., and carried unanimously . Bro . Farwig thanked the brethren for their confidence , and said he was always willing to assist them in any way they thought fit . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed in ancient form with peace and harmony , and adjourned .

assisted by Bro . Chilcott , worked the First Section of the Second Lecture . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree . The lodge was closed down , the W . M . having risen for the second time . LIVERPOOL . —Merchants Lodge ( No . 241 ) . — This lodge has for many years exercised a Masonic influence which has been greatly appreciated by those who have been connected with it , and the annual social gatherings of the members have invariably been of the most pleasant and successful nature . This yearly festival

assembly took place on Tuesday evening , the 21 st ult ., at the Harrington Restaurant , Hariington-street , a banquet of an exceptionally excellent nature being provided" by Bro . C . A . Luker . AL , was unanimously re-elected as a member of the Charity Committee to represent this lodge . After many expressions of "Hearty good wishes " the lodge was closed in due form . where an excellent menu had been prepared , and was capitally served by Bro . Hart , of the Black Horse Hotel . The W . M . presided , and was ably assisted by his officers . "The Health of the W . M . " was next proposed by Bro . Chambers , I . P . AL , and responded to in a very neat speech . "The Masonic Charities " was proposed by Bro . Ayling ,

who announced that Bro . Band , P . AL , had accepted the office of Steward to represent his lodge at the forthcoming festival in connection with the Boys' School , and whose exertions had already been rewarded to the extent of nearly 50 guineas by the brethren who were then present . Bro . E . Kirby , in a very feeling speech , responded , his remarks being received with great applause , hoping that

Bro . Band would be able to exceed the highest sum ever taken by any Steward from this lodge , viz ., £ 169 , by Bro . A . H . Des Barres in 1 S 79 . Bro . Band then thanked the brethren for the very hearty manner they had supported him on this occasion . " The Installing Alaster " was next proposed by the VV . AL , who congratulated him on the success which had

crowned his efforts and the way in which he had performed the ceremony that day . "The Visitors" were next " proposed by Bro . Harrison , P . M ., Chap . Bro . Emmerson , P . M ., P . P . G . J . W ., responded . Bro . Hast , S . W ., next gave the toast of "The P . M . 's of the Lord Warden Lodge , " and at the same time said

that not only must the brethren look to the Alaster for instruction and assistance , but also to the P . M . 's , whose zeal for the Craft had been recognised by the number of them who are now , or have been Provincial Grand Officers . Bro . Usher , P . M ., suitably responded . The Worshipful Alaster in proposing " The Health of the Officers , " said he had great cause to congratulate

himself upon having so many efficient brethren to choose from . He felt confident that he should have the hearty co-operation of all during the ensuing year . The S . W ., in responding , thanked the W . AL for the kindly terms in which the toast had been couched , and said the officers intended to show by their work that the high opinion the W . M . had expressed of them should be justified .

The official list closed with the Tylers toast and the brethren soon after separated . During the evening the proceedings were greatly enhanced by the excellent singing of Bros . Fricker and Higgins and Mr . Pitt . Air . Fricker , jun ., very ably presided at the piano . Great credit is due to Bro . and Airs . Hart for the very

admirable way in which the banquet was served , and too much praise cannot be given to the Lodge Committee for the efficient arrangements made for the comfort of the visitors . Altogether the meeting was considered the very best that had been held in connection with the lodge since its formation . The jewel was manutactured by Bro . George Kenning , of Little Britain , London .

Lodge was advanced , and Bro . Smith was questioned for the superior Degree , and lodge was duly opened up by Bro . Alillington , P . M ., who next worked the third ceremony capitally . We were very pleased with the order

and discipline of the lodge under the efficient guidance of Bro . J . Delves , the esteemed Preceptor . We are glad to learn that the newly-established Alasonic Charitable Association is highly successful , and held its first ballot last meeting , when Bro . Cooper , who attended for thc first time after three years' absence , having joined , proved the
