AL , was unanimously re-elected as a member of the Charity Committee to represent this lodge . After many expressions of "Hearty good wishes " the lodge was closed in due form . where an excellent menu had been prepared , and was capitally served by Bro . Hart , of the Black Horse Hotel . The W . M . presided , and was ably assisted by his officers . Past and Present , " proposed in a very able manner by Bro . Des Barres , P . M ., met with a very hearty reception . Bros . Band , P . G . A . P ., and Browning , P . G . Steward , responded . "The Health of the W . M . " was next proposed by Bro . Chambers , I . P . AL , and responded to in a very neat speech . "The Masonic Charities " was proposed by Bro . Ayling ,

who announced that Bro . Band , P . AL , had accepted the office of Steward to represent his lodge at the forthcoming festival in connection with the Boys' School , and whose exertions had already been rewarded to the extent of nearly 50 guineas by the brethren who were then present . Bro . E . Kirby , in a very feeling speech , responded , his remarks being received with great applause , hoping that

Bro . Band would be able to exceed the highest sum ever taken by any Steward from this lodge , viz ., £ 169 , by Bro . A . H . Des Barres in 1 S 79 . Bro . Band then thanked the brethren for the very hearty manner they had supported him on this occasion . " The Installing Alaster " was next proposed by the VV . AL , who congratulated him on the success which had

crowned his efforts and the way in which he had performed the ceremony that day . "The Visitors" were next " proposed by Bro . Harrison , P . M ., Chap . Bro . Emmerson , P . M ., P . P . G . J . W ., responded . Bro . Hast , S . W ., next gave the toast of "The P . M . 's of the Lord Warden Lodge , " and at the same time said

that not only must the brethren look to the Alaster for instruction and assistance , but also to the P . M . 's , whose zeal for the Craft had been recognised by the number of them who are now , or have been Provincial Grand Officers . Bro . Usher , P . M ., suitably responded . The Worshipful Alaster in proposing " The Health of the Officers , " said he had great cause to congratulate

himself upon having so many efficient brethren to choose from . He felt confident that he should have the hearty co-operation of all during the ensuing year . The S . W ., in responding , thanked the W . AL for the kindly terms in which the toast had been couched , and said the officers intended to show by their work that the high opinion the W . M . had expressed of them should be justified .

The official list closed with the Tylers toast and the brethren soon after separated . During the evening the proceedings were greatly enhanced by the excellent singing of Bros . Fricker and Higgins and Mr . Pitt . Air . Fricker , jun ., very ably presided at the piano . Great credit is due to Bro . and Airs . Hart for the very

admirable way in which the banquet was served , and too much praise cannot be given to the Lodge Committee for the efficient arrangements made for the comfort of the visitors . Altogether the meeting was considered the very best that had been held in connection with the lodge since its formation . The jewel was manutactured by Bro . George Kenning , of Little Britain , London .

Lodge was advanced , and Bro . Smith was questioned for the superior Degree , and lodge was duly opened up by Bro . Alillington , P . M ., who next worked the third ceremony capitally . We were very pleased with the order

and discipline of the lodge under the efficient guidance of Bro . J . Delves , the esteemed Preceptor . We are glad to learn that the newly-established Alasonic Charitable Association is highly successful , and held its first ballot last meeting , when Bro . Cooper , who attended for thc first time after three years' absence , having joined , proved the

successful brother in the ballot . Brethren who desire to take part in this good work are invited to attend on any Tuesday evening and see the indefatigable Hon . Secretary , Bro . S . G . Bonner . LIVERPOOL . —Merchants Lodge ( No . 241 ) . — This lodge has for many years exercised a Masonic influence which has been greatly appreciated by those who have been connected with it , and the annual social gatherings of the members have invariably been of the most pleasant and successful nature . This yearly festival
