W ., addressing the brethren , said the time had come for him to vacate the chair , but , before doing so

he wished to thank all his officers for svhat they had done for him during his most pleasant year of office . Everyone had been most kind ; they had vied vvith each other in trying to make his Mastership a year of happiness , and had done so most successfully . He felt bound to give a special vote of thanks to his Secretary , whose kindness and many exertions on his behalf he should ever remember , and he

trusted that the succeeding W . M . ' s might have his co-operation and assistance ( always given svith pleasure ) for many years to come . He ( Bro . Clowes ) hoped he might be spared to welcome all his officers as W . M . 's of the Earl of Sussex Lodge in the years to come , and he would endeavour to make their years of office as happy as they made his .

Bro . Rev . E . R . Currie , Dean of Battle , G . Chap ., and P . G . Chaplain , vvas installed W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by Bro . Colonel Shadsvell H . The Deputy Prov . G . M ., Bro . SirW . T . Marriott , also acknowledged in his heartiest manner the untiring zeal svith which Bro . Closves had devoted himself to the lodge . Bro . Clowes , in responding , said that although the jewel had not been voted for him , as svas usual in such cases , at their

last meeting in April , he regarded the circumstance as a good omen of their kind feelings tosvards him , as it proved he had been thought of since that meeting by the brethren . The kind words of the VV . M ., the flattering remarks of Bro . Sir W . T . Marriott , and the handsome jesvel told him that his efforts in doing all in his posver for the good and welfare of the Earl of Sussex Lodge during his Mastership

had been appreciated . Leaving the chair svith the goodwill and best svishes of the brethren , their kindness svould alsvays be remembered by him , and he should never forget his year of office as their W . M . He threw out some interesting suggestions for the consideration

Currie's Mastership the lodge would have a prosperous

year . In introducing the toast of "The Past Masters of the Lodge , " the Prov . Grand Secretary , after speaking of the excellent svork of the Past Masters , and of the kind manner in which they appreciated his services , said he had been requested by some of the brethren to make a small presentation to Bro . Closves as an earnest of their good feeling

towards him , and as a token of their thorough appreciation of the hospitality svhich Bro . Clowes had extended to them . The presentation took the form of a silver bowl and an illuminated address . The latter read as follows : " Presented , together with a silver bowl , to VV . Bro . Richard Closves , P . P . S . G . W ., P . M . Earl of Sussex Lodge , No .
