LIVERPOOL . —Downshire Lodge ( No . 594 ) . — The annual installation gathering of the members of this lodge was held at the M . H ., Hope-street , on the 22 nd ult . The brethren were summoned to business as early as eight o'clock in the morning , as a picnic was also included in the day ' s proceedings , but this unusually early hour did not prevent a large attendance , and the whole of the proceedings were conducted in a thoroughly satisfactory and admirable

manner . 1 he Downshire Lodge s reputation has long stood high in connection with its working , and on this occasion allwho were present must have been satisfied with the efficient manner in which the early morning business was carried out to the conclusion . The chair , at the commencement of business , was occupied by Bro . W . H . Veevers , VV . M ., and amongst the chiefs of the mystic Order present were Bros . S . E . Ibbs , P . P . G .

Veevers , in recognition of his valuable services to the Downshire Lodge . Dinner was served at the VVynnstay Arms , Ruabon , under the presidency of the VV . M ., who proposed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts in a felicitous manner . Wet weather rather interfered with the full enjoyment of the larger company . A sum of £ 5 5 s . vvas voted from the Charity Fund of the lodge , to be placed on the Junior Warden ' s list of contributions to the Boys' School Anniversary Festival . Messrs . VV . T . and S . Moss having been proposed as candidates for Freemasonry , the lodge vvas then closed , and the brethren adjourned for refreshment .

SALFORD . —Richmond Lodge ( No . ion ) . — ITie annual festival of St . John was celebrated on 'Thursday , the 15 th ult . The brethren assembled at the Crown Hotel , Blackfriars-street , and the lodge vvas opened by the W . M ., Bro . Nettleton , assisted by the officers of the lodge . After " Hearty good wishes " had been expressed by the visitors , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the London-road Station , thence by railway to the Ram's Head , at Disley , where mine host , Bro . H . Winterbottom , had made ample provision for refreshing the inner man .

After various entertainments on the bowling-green , interspersed with songs and glees by the musical brethren , of which this lodge can so well boast , a sumptuous dinner was heartily enjoyed , the fresh country airand out-door exercises having sharpened the appetites of the visitors , which concluded a very pleasant afternoon ' s outing , all returning by the 9 . 30 train to Manchester .

CHISLEHURST LODGE ( No . 1531 ) . —The st allation meeting of this lodge was held at the Bull ' s Head , Chislehurst , on Saturday last . The W . M . Bro . Edward Kipps opened the lodge in due form , assisted by his officers , in the presence of many members , and the following amongst other visitors : Bros . Briggs , W . M . 77 ; Shaw , l . P . M , S 31 ; Newsom , W . M . 1 O 92 ; ' Speight , P . M .

147 ; Walford , P . M . 177 and 1 4 S 9 ; Holloway , 1622 ; Frest , 142 G ; Sillis , D . C . 1 744 ; and Balding J . D . 1 C 92 . The minutes of the last lodge having been confirmed , the Auditor ' s report was read , which showed the lodge vvas in a sound financial position . Bro . William Kipps , P . M . P . P . G . Org . Kent , then proceeded to instal Bro . J . R . Behenna , J . W ., into the chair of K . S . in a manner which

greatly impressed the brethren present . The VV . M . invested his officers as follows : Bros . Drinkwater , S . W . ; T . C . Nunn , J . W . ; Hollis , Treas . ; H . B . Taylor , Sec . ; John Tuck , S . D . ; Goodale , J . D . ; and Gibson , l . G . Some further routine work having been done , the VV . M . in a few well-chosen words presented Bro . E . Kipps , I . P . M ., with the jewel the lodge had voted him . In his reply Bro .

E . Kipps alluded to the pleasure it gave him to receive at the hands of his successor such a mark of brotherly consideration ; lie more highly prized it as this vvas his mother lodge , and though residing at a considerable distance from it he should at all times remember the Chislehurst Lodge , and would do all in his power to promote its welfare . The lodge was then closed in due form , and the

brethren proceeded to partake of a superb banquet , provided by Bro . Wain , in the assembly-room of the Parish , which was very elegantly decorated with plants , flowers , and a profusion of cut roses . Due justice having been done , both by members and visitors , to the " Fourth Degree , " the W . M . gave the usual Masonic toasts in a clear and pleasing manner .

the I . P . M ., Bro . E . Kipps , in eulogistic terms , proposed " The Health of the W . AI ., " who made a suitable reply . The VV . M ., in giving "The Health of the Visitors , " stated that he should not call upon all to respond , but , on his own behalf and that of his brethren , could assure them that Chislehurst Lodge was never happier than when favoured with a goodly number of visitors .

Bro . Newsom , VV . M . 1672 , responded , and mentioned the kindly feeling that existed between the lodges of the Province of Kent . Bros . Walford , P . M . 177 , and Shaw , l . P . M . Sj 4 , also thanked the brethren for the manner in which they had been entertained . "The Past Masters" were then honoured ; and the

VV . M ., in asking the brethren to drink to " 'The Health of his Officers , " expressed a hope that they would enjoy a pleasant year of office , which the S . W ., J . W ., Treasurer , and Secretary , in reply , assured the VV . M . they would endeavour to make it . The Tyler ' s toast brought a very enjoyable evening to a close , much enhanced by the vocal abilities of several of the brethren .

SHOEBURYNESS . — St . Andrew ' s Lodge ( No . 1 S 17 ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 22 nd ult ., at the lodge-rooms , Cambridge Hotel . Bro . J . M . Farr , W . M ., presided , and vvas supported by Past Masters Lucking , 1 Go and 1000 ; Glascock , 1 S 17 ; Johnston , 1000 ; Bacon , 153 ; Harris , 1000 ; and VVardell , 1000 . The following officers were present to assist the

VV . M .: Bros . Floyd , S . VV . ; Church , J . W . ; T . Lucking , A . S . D . ; F . Taylor , J . D . ; Gunnell , Steward ; and Harris , Secretary . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last regular meeting read and confirmed . The only other business vvas to raise Bros . Smith and Thomas to the high and Sublime Degree of Master Mason , which vvas done in

Bro . Farr ' s well-known creditable style . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to the refreshment-ioom , where the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . The vocal abilities of Bros . Gunnell , Rogan " , Spalding , Church , Floyd , and Stafford were prominently brought forward , these brethren contributing largely to the harmony of the evening .

HENLEY-ON-THAMES . —Thames Lodge ( No . 1 S 95 ) . —The first annual festival of this prosperous lodge , and installation of the VV . M . elect , vvas celebrated at the Masonic Rooms , on Monday the 12 th ult . 'The lodge was opened by the V . W . Bro . Reginald Bird , M . A ., P . G . D ., D . P . G . VI . Oxen . at 4 o ' clock , and the members present , were Bros . R . T . Hodge , S . VV ., W . M . elect ; A . Brakspear ,

Williams providing the repast which was of an excellent character and well served . The usual Masonic toasts both Grand and Provincial were drunk with the customary honours .

In rising to respond for "Provincial Grand Lodge " Bro . Bird said that it afforded him a great amount of p leasure in being present that day for the yiurposeof installing his friend , Bro . Hodge , in the chair of the youngest lodge in the province , and he took this opportunity of complimenting the brethren of the Thames lodge on the work they had done during the past year , and was sure that the lodge would still further prosper under the guidance of their present VV . M ., whose health he would now propose . The VV . M . suitably replied .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

'The W . M . next proposed , in feeling terms , " The Health of the I . P . M ., Bro . the Rev . D . H . VV . Horlock , " who has accepted a mission appointment at Yale , British Columbia , and who left England in April , wishing him health and happiness in his new home . This toast vvas drunk with great enthusiasm , and the Secretary vvas requested to write to Bro . Horlock , and express the feelings of the brethren . The remaining toasts having been proposed and responded to , the Tyler ' s toast brought a pleasant evening to a close .

UNITED PILGRIMS LODGE ( No . 507 ) . — At the last meeting of this lodge , which is held at the Surrey Masonic Hall , Camberwell , S . E ., Bro . J . VV . Watts , P . M ., as VV . M ., opened the lodge , supported by Bros . H . M . Williams , S . W . ; J . Bute , J . W . ; C . H . Phillips , S . D . ; H . Baldwin , J . D . ; J . Pitt , l . G . ; John S . Terry , P . M . and Sec ; and James Stevens , P . M ., P . Z ., Preceptor . There

were also present Bros . H . Hubbard , E . Woodman , C T . Curtis , and others . The lodge was passed to the Second Degree and resumed . Bro Stevens delivered the Lectures on t le First and Second Tracing Boards , and , time permitting , the First Section was worked by the brethren . The thanks of the lodge were voted to Bro . Stevens for instruction afforded , and the business of the evening terminated .

MERCHANT NAVY LODGE ( No . 7 S 1 ) . —At the last regular meeting of this lodge , at the Silver Tavern , Burdett-road , E ., Bro . F . Robinson vvas VV . M ., assisted by Bros . E . Gregory , S . VV . ; Ellingford , J . W . ; Ould , Treas . ; Breden , P . M ., Sec ; J . H . Pringle , Preceptor ; Ould , S . D . ; Kennett , l . G . ; Watson , Cockle , Bull , and others . Lodge vvas duly opened , and minutes read and confirmed .

Lodge vvas advanced , and Bro . Cocker being the candididate , vvas tested and entrusted , and in due course the ceremony of raising was worked . Lodge vvas resumed in the Second Degree , and Bro . Ould , W . M . 7 S 1 , worked the Three Sections of the Lecture , the brethren assisting . Bro . E . Gregory was elected VV . M . for the ensuing lodge meeting , bro . Cockle was unanimously admitted a member of the lodge , and all business being ended satisfactorily , lodge was closed .

TEMPERANCE-IN-THE-EAST LODGE ( No . S 9 S ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held on Wednesday week , at Bro . Lodge was formally opened in the Three Degrees , anj the minutes having been submitted and confirmed , Bro . Saunders was questioned and entrusted for the Sublime Degree . Lodge vvas advanced , and the' ceremony of raising vvas capitally worked , Bro . Saunders being

candidate . Lodge was called off , and after an interval for refreshment , was resumed , when Bro . Finch favoured the brethren with an explanation of the T . B ., which gave unqualified satisfaction . Lodge vvas closed down , and after some matters of minor importance had been discussed , it vvas duly arranged to celebrate the anniversary festival of the lodge by holding a banquet on VVednesday , the jth inst ., at 7 . 30 precisely . BURGOYNE LODGE ( No . 902 ) . —This lodge met on the evening of Thursday , the 22 nd ult ., at the Cock 'Tavern , St . Martin's Court , Ludgate-hill . The menu provided by Bro . Gabb vvas highly appreciated by the brethren present , and a most enjoyable evening vvas spent . ¦ DORIC LODGE ( No . 933 ) . —The meetings of

this prosperous lodge were continued on the 23 rd ult ., in somewhat an informal manner . Bros . B . Cundick , P . M ., Preceptor , and Win . Musto , P . AL , Secretary , were in attendance , supported by Bros Job , Stewart , West , Stephens , and others . 'I he evening vvas devoted until the regular hour for closing the lodge to the discussion of

several matters of Masonic interest , and served to prove how instructive and useful an " off night" can be made occasionally . The next meeting night will be devoted to working as many ot the Sections as the ordinary lodge hours will permit of , and brethren are most cordially in-, vitcd .

LIVERPOOL . —Downshire Lodge ( No . 594 ) . — The annual installation gathering of the members of this lodge was held at the M . H ., Hope-street , on the 22 nd ult . The brethren were summoned to business as early as eight o'clock in the morning , as a picnic was also included in the day ' s proceedings , but this unusually early hour did not prevent a large attendance , and the whole of the proceedings were conducted in a thoroughly satisfactory and admirable

manner . 1 he Downshire Lodge s reputation has long stood high in connection with its working , and on this occasion allwho were present must have been satisfied with the efficient manner in which the early morning business was carried out to the conclusion . H . Winterbottom , had made ample provision for refreshing the inner man .

After various entertainments on the bowling-green , interspersed with songs and glees by the musical brethren , of which this lodge can so well boast , a sumptuous dinner was heartily enjoyed , the fresh country airand out-door exercises having sharpened the appetites of the visitors , which concluded a very pleasant afternoon ' s outing , all returning by the 9 . 30 train to Manchester .

CHISLEHURST LODGE ( No . 1531 ) . —The st allation meeting of this lodge was held at the Bull ' s Head , Chislehurst , on Saturday last . The W . M . Bro . Edward Kipps opened the lodge in due form , assisted by his officers , in the presence of many members , and the following amongst other visitors : Bros . Briggs , W . M . 77 ; Shaw , l . P . M , S 31 ; Newsom , W . M . 1 O 92 ; ' Speight , P . M .

The minutes of the last lodge having been confirmed , the Auditor ' s report was read , which showed the lodge vvas in a sound financial position . Bro . William Kipps , P . M . P . P . G . Org . Kent , then proceeded to instal Bro . J . R . Behenna , J . W ., into the chair of K . S . in a manner which

E . Kipps alluded to the pleasure it gave him to receive at the hands of his successor such a mark of brotherly consideration ; lie more highly prized it as this vvas his mother lodge , and though residing at a considerable distance from it he should at all times remember the Chislehurst Lodge , and would do all in his power to promote its welfare . The lodge was then closed in due form , and the

brethren proceeded to partake of a superb banquet , provided by Bro . Wain , in the assembly-room of the Parish , which was very elegantly decorated with plants , flowers , and a profusion of cut roses . Due justice having been done , both by members and visitors , to the " Fourth Degree , " the W . M . gave the usual Masonic toasts in a clear and pleasing manner .

the I . P . M ., Bro . E . Kipps , in eulogistic terms , proposed " The Health of the W . AI ., " who made a suitable reply . The VV . M ., in giving "The Health of the Visitors , " stated that he should not call upon all to respond , but , on his own behalf and that of his brethren , could assure them that Chislehurst Lodge was never happier than when favoured with a goodly number of visitors .

Bro . Newsom , VV . M . 1672 , responded , and mentioned the kindly feeling that existed between the lodges of the Province of Kent . Bros . Walford , P . M . 177 , and Shaw , l . P . M . Sj 4 , also thanked the brethren for the manner in which they had been entertained . "The Past Masters" were then honoured ; and the

VV . M ., in asking the brethren to drink to " 'The Health of his Officers , " expressed a hope that they would enjoy a pleasant year of office , which the S . W ., J . W ., Treasurer , and Secretary , in reply , assured the VV . M . they would endeavour to make it . The Tyler ' s toast brought a very enjoyable evening to a close , much enhanced by the vocal abilities of several of the brethren .

In rising to respond for "Provincial Grand Lodge " Bro . Bird said that it afforded him a great amount of p leasure in being present that day for the yiurposeof installing his friend , Bro . Hodge , in the chair of the youngest lodge in the province , and he took this opportunity of complimenting the brethren of the Thames lodge on the work they had done during the past year , and was sure that the lodge would still further prosper under the guidance of their present VV . M ., whose health he would now propose . The VV . M . suitably replied .

Horlock , " who has accepted a mission appointment at Yale , British Columbia , and who left England in April , wishing him health and happiness in his new home .
