sure that they would agree with him that the gentlemen who were the subjects of this toast were well deserving of their thanks . Heshould not occupy their time by mak ing a speech , but would couple with the toast the name of Bro . the Baron de Ferriers . ,

That showed a total from London lodges of £ 5722 8 s . ud ., and a total from the various provinces of £ 507 16 s . id ., giving a grand total of . £ 11 , 693 14 s . id . SIR WALTKR BUKUEI . L , who assumed the presidents chair upon the retirement of the Lord Mayor , proposed " The Health of the Vice-Patrons , Vice-Presidents , Trustees , and Members of Committees , " in doing which he said that they were all aware that the management of a school containing oyer 200 boys involved all concerned in a great deal of workand he was

f BARON DE 1 < ERRIEKS in replying , said that they were all gratified at the progress the Institution was making . They all felt proud of being associated together m so good a work . He was also glad to find that the idea of coming down to Brighton had proved so successful . Col . SHAUWELL H . CLERKE proposed " The Health of the Mayor of Brighton . Masons prided themselves that amongst their other qualifications they were good and constitutional citizens , therefore thev were alwavs

proud and happy to meet under the local authority of the place in which they assembled . It had been the good fortune of the Institution for Boys for the last two years to meet in the good town of Brighton . Last year they were favoured with the company of the then Ma of Brighton ( Mr . David Smith ) , and they were on this occasion also favoured with the presence of the Mayor of Brighton who bat upon the speaker ' s left , and who was a

good and enthusiastic Mason , whom they were proud to see there in his official capacity , clothed with his gorgeous chain of office . They felt grateful to him for throwing the . -egis of his authority over their assembly . Col . Clerke added the hope that on a future occasion they might have the pleasure of his society again , and that they might have on that occasion also the patronage ot the then Mayor of Bri ghton ,, and that he might be a Free and Accepted Mason . He concluded by asking those present to thank the Mayor of Brighton for his patronage , and to wish him a very prosperous municipal year of office .

The MAYOR or BRIGHTON said , in reply , that he was very glad to be able to express the pleasure which the Corporation of Brighton felt at the visit of last season being repeated ; th ey had had their doubts last year whether it would be so . Being an old

Mason he hoped they would continue to come to Brighton next year and as often as they thought proper . Sir WALTER BURRELL brought the proceedings to a close with a toast to " The Health of the Ladies . "

I he musical arrangements were under the superintendence of W . Bro . Wilhelm Ganz , P . G . Organist , who was assisted by Madame Mathilde Zimeri , Miss Marian McKenzie , Bro . Sidney Tower , and Bro .

Egbert Roberts . The band of the Boys ' School was also in attendance , and during the evening performed a selection of music , under Mr . VV . Whare , the Bandmaster , as conductor .

rhe whole of the proceedings passed off in the most satisfactory manner , and the London portion of the company returned to town b y two special trains , which started from Brighton at 8 . 30 . The favour worn on the occasion con «

tamed the City arms , surrounded with the name of the Institution and the City motto" Domini Dirige Nos "—and suspended by a ribbon having the colours of the Lord Mayor ' s Arms . Bro . George Kenning was the manufacturer .
