HOLY SANCTUARY PRECEPTORY ( No . 131 ) . —A very interesting meeting of the above preceptory vvas held at its head-quaiters , 33 , Golden-square , on the 17 th inst ., when the chair was taken and the preceptory opened by V . E . Sir Knight Col . Shadwell H . Clerke , G . Sub-Prior ot England . After the usual preliminaries had been gone through , the V . E . Sir Knight addressed the sir
knights to the effect that the first duty vvas rather an unusual one—no less than the installation of V . E . Sir Knight Col . Ramsay as Prov . Prior for the Mediterranean . In consequence of the resignation of V . E . Sir Knight Sir Henry Burford Hancock of the office of Prov . Prior of the Mediterranean , it had pleased the M . E . the Great Prior of England , the Earl of Lathom , to appoint as his
successor Sir Knight Col . Ramsay ; that as more than 1000 miles divided the preceptories in this command ( one being at Malta and the other at Gibraltar ) , the Great Prior had given his sanction to the unusual course being adopted of installing Col . Rimsay in England . The installation was then proceeded with , and carried through in that very admirable manner in which Col . Shadwell H . Clerke
performs all those duties which hi undertakes . The V . E . Prov . Prior ot the Mediterranean was then duly proclaimed and saluted . That duty being completed , it next devolved on the Great Sub-Prior to install a candidate , who had previously been elected , into the Order , and he finally installed as E . P . for the year E . Sir Knight F . A . Philbrick , Q . C , G . Chancellor of the Order . i ' his concluded a mojc
interesting and instructive mealing , more especially vvhen we add that one sir knight vvas accepted as a joining member and a brother vvas proposed as a candidate to be installed into the Order at the next regular meeting of the preceptory . I ' he sir knights then adjourned to a banquet at the Cafe
Royal , after which the usual toasts were given , and finally broke up alter a most pleasant evening . For some time this preceptory has been in rather low water , but it is hoped the corner is turned , and that with so energetic an E . P . as Sir Knight Philbrick it will no . v proceed in the right direction , and ere long again take its proper place as one of the foremj _ , t preceptories of London .

had oa several occasions come from Darlington to help them . A proposal to change the night of meeting from VVednesday to Monday was duly carried . There being no further business , the preceptory was closed , and the sir knights adjourned to dinner at the invitation of the E . P .
