Bro . Captain PROBERT returned thanks for the toast of "The Ladies . " The C HAIRMAN proposed " The Patrons , Vice-Patrons , Vice-Presidents , and Trustees of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . " No institution , particularly a voluntary institution , could exist without a governing body . A large number

of gentlemen gave a great amount of their time to the management of this Institution . This School had even been fortunate in being able to obtain any number of brethren of hi gh standing among the brotherhood vvho were ready and anxious to devote themselves to its service , and at this Festival their services ought not to be forgotten .

Bro . Major GEORGE LAMBERT responded , and in the course of his remarks said he wished with all his heart that those vvho followed them would do the work as well as their predecessors . He could tell them it meant work . The CHAIRMAN proposed "TheSister Institutions . "

Bro . J AMES TERRY responded , and said that Earl Amherst would take the chair for the Benevolent Institution next year . In January , 1861 , his lordship , then Lord Holmesdale , took the same position ; but since then things had greatly altered , for in 1861 ^ 2800 was collected . In 18 91 he expected more , for he knew the heart of the Craft was sound .

Bro . Colonel SHADWELL H . CLERKE , G . Sec , proposed " The Stewards . " Bro . Sir J . R . SOMERS VINE responded , and the brethren adjourned to the Temple , where an excellent concert was given . The Stewards' Favor vvas an anchor , which , besides representing one of the cardinal virtues , is the arms

of the Admiralty , and there f ore an appropriate emblem of the Chairman . It vvas manufactured by Bro . George Kenning . -A ANALYSIS OF THE RETURNS . The figures in connection with this Festival , which it is now our duty to analyse , are not such as we had hoped to publish . We were prepared for sundry shortcomings , especially in the London section of the Returns , but we had not

anticipated that the average per list would have descended to so low a figure as . £ 35 . However , anything in the shape of regret is unavailing . We have our Returns , and all we can do is to examine them carefully , so that whatever credit is due in obtaining them may fall on the right brethren . The general total shows that the Stewards mustered in all 272 , and that the aggregate sum raised by them vvas announced as . £ 9253 2 s . Of this amount

LOMDON , represented b y 107 brethren , was successful in obtaining , £ 3385 ios . 6 d ., the prin-
