CHILDREN'S SOIREE OF THE WILBERFORCE LODGE , No . 2134 , HULL .

Immediately following the successful conversazione held by the above lodge on Friday , the 16 th ult ., the officers and brethren gave a children's soiree on Monday , the 19 th ult ., in the lodge building . Upwards of 60 youngsters assembled , and after some preliminary amusements they were

conducted to the refreshment-room and bountifully regailed , under the kind care of Mrs . Burdall , assisted by several willing Stewards . A concert was then given in the banquetroom . The first part consisted of a pianoforte duet by Mrs . Watson and Mrs . V . King , songs by Bros . Meanwell , E . Watson , Master Keys , Alice King , and others , concluding with a beautifully-rendered vocal waltz , "Swinging . " The

second part was given by the Excelsior Minstrel Troupe , and consisted of a stump oration on "Temperance , " by Mr . H . Miles ; song and dance , "Rose , the Coloured Belle , " Mr . VV . Shand ; banjo song , "Creation , " Mr . J . VV . Kay ; comic song , " Rosie ' s Sunday Out , " Mr . E . Moody ; concluding with thecomicsketcb , "Hairdresser , " by Messrs . Smith , Scholes , and T . W . Marks . The various

items were well rendered , and received with a perfect storm of applause . After various other amusements , the young party broke up , highly gratified with their evening ' s amusement . Mr . F . Barker acted as efficient pianist for dancing , the whole arrangements of this successful soiree being under the management of Mr . Vessey King , the Organist of the lodge .

New Masonic Hall At Falmouth.

NEW MASONIC HALL AT FALMOUTH .

The new Masonic Hall in connection with Lodge Love and Honour , No . 75 , Falmouth , was opened on Tuesday , the 13 th ult . This lodge is the oldest in the county , and for many years the members have met and conducted their business at the Assembly Room , Royal Hotel , Falmouth . Owing , however , to the increase of members and other

causes it was thought desirable by the chief promoters of the lodge that they should have suitable premises of their own . A site at the rear of the new Savings Bank , Churchstreet , was chosen , and plans were prepared for the erection of suitable premises . The hall is very spacious , being 54 feet by 26 feet . It has an open Gothic roof , with massive principals resting on carved corbels . The walls are dadoed

ajl round with wood pannelling , ornamented with Gothic pilasters , through which there is a novel contrivance for ventilation , and Boyle ' s air pump ventilators are used in the roof . Beautiful stained glass windows are placed in the building , and thc hall will be lit by two handsome gasliers with opal shades . The hall will not only prove of great advantage to the successful carrying on of , the business of the Craft , but the same will be found useful in many

ways , it being intended to let the premises for business engagements , but not for political purposes . The hall is approached from an ante-room 26 feet by 25 feet . The lower part of the building , which is not quite completed , will be fitted with every modern culinary convenience , lavatories , and other ofiices . The contractors ( who have done their work in a satisfactory manner ) were Messrs . J . and G . Kelway , and the honorary clerk of the works ,
