He has served ten steAvardships to the Masonic charities , and is A ice-President of the Girls' School , and Life Governor of the other institutions .

BRO . M . C . PECK , AVIIO Avas appointed Grand Standard Bearer of England at the grand festival held in April last , Avas initiated in the Minerva Lodge , No . 250 , Hull , in 1859 . In 1861 ho Avas appointed its secretary , and Avas annually re-appointed till last year , Avhen , after tAventy-six years' diligent discharge of the duties , he resigned his office into other hands , and accepted

the less onerous but equally responsible position of treasurer , being at the same time one of the trustees of the lodge as well as of its Benevolent and Building Funds . In 1804 he A \ r as founder and first AV . M . of the Sykes Lodge , No . 1 , 040 , Driffield , and ten years later he assisted in the foundation of the Alexandra Lodge , No . 1 , 511 , Hornsea . He is also a joining member of the Humber

Lodge , No . 57 , and Master for the second time of the Humber Installed Masters' Lodge of Instruction , besides being honorary member of many lodges in North and East Yorkshire . He is also a honorary member of the Verein Deutscher Freimanrer , or German Society of Freemasons . In 1802 he Avas invested Prov . G . Supt . of AVorks , North and East Yorkshire , and in 1 S 66 the late Earl of

Zetland appointed him to the arduous office of Prov . G . Secretary , an honorary office , which , he has continued to hold ever since , and still holds , to the very great benefit of the Craft in the province . Indeed , in 1881 his valuable services Avere recognised by the brethren , Avho presented him Avith a valuable testimonial of sih'er plate , Avhile last year the present Earl of Zetland still more

conspicuously confirmed the approval of the brethren by conferring on him the rank of a Past Prov . S . G . AA arden , in connection Avith the celebration of the Queen ' s Jubilee . He Avas exalted in 1861 , and Avas installed M . E . Z . of the Minerva Chapter , No . 250 , in 1867 . He is a subscribing member of the Humber , Minerva and Kingston Chapters and honorary member of several others , and since 1867

has held the honorary office of Prov . G . Scribe E ., concurrently Avith that of Prov . G . Secretary . He A \ r as advanced in 1861 , and Avas installed AV . M . of the Minerva Mark Lodge , No . 12 , in 1866 . He was installed E . C . of the Ancient York Conclave of Redemption of the Order of the Temple in 1868 , Prov . G . Chancellor of North and East Yorkshire in 1864 , and held that office for many years . He

Avas perfected Rose Croix in the Ancient York Chapter of Redemption in 1863 , and Avas installed M . AV . S . in 1882 , having in the meantime received the 30 ° in 1870 . He is a life governor of all our charities , is a vice-president , and has tAvice served as steward for the boys ' school ; he also acted as steAvard for the girls' school at the recent centenary festival ; and is Hon . Secretary of the Prov .

Charities' Association of North and East Yorkshire ; lastly , he has done good service to Masonic literature by editing the best English edition of Mackey ' s "Lexicon of Freemasonry , " besides many lectures and orations on Masonry . AVe may add . that Bro . Peck is at present engaged on a history of Freemasonry in Hull ,

Avhich has already been some years in preparation . Bro . M . C . Peck is greatly respected and esteemed , not only by the brethren of his OAVII toAvn and province , but by the members of the Craft generally throughout the country , and his sage advice on ritual and other Masonic modus operandi is greatly sought after and as readily accorded .

MASONIC TRIP . —The members of the , ; Constance" Lodge of Freemasons , at Consett , Durham , arranged for a pic-nie , on Wednesday afternoon , to Blanchland . Throe brakes Avere hired from Mrs . Christopher and Messrs . T . C . RaAves & Co ., Consett , and Mr . J . Christopher , Blackhill , to drive them to the above place , and they started aAvay from Consett about noon . A good dinner and tea Avas provided for them at the Lord CrcAve Arms , Blanchland , by Mrs .

Imoson , and in the evening , after tea , a ball Avas held in a spacious room at the hotel . Throughout the day the Aveather was beautifully fine , and the members spent a most enjoyable day amongst the Avoods , & c , about the place . Amongst the holiday-seekers Avere Messrs . Logan , Bell , MattheAvs , and other men of note in the neighbourhood . The party returned at about 9 . 30 from Blanchland , and did not arrive in Consett until 12 p . m .

Lodge , No . 57 , and Master for the second time of the Humber Installed Masters' Lodge of Instruction , besides being honorary member of many lodges in North and East Yorkshire . He is also a honorary member of the Verein Deutscher Freimanrer , or German Society of Freemasons . In 1802 he Avas invested Prov . G . Supt . of AVorks , North and East Yorkshire , and in 1 S 66 the late Earl of

Zetland appointed him to the arduous office of Prov . G . Secretary , an honorary office , which , he has continued to hold ever since , and still holds , to the very great benefit of the Craft in the province . Indeed , in 1881 his valuable services Avere recognised by the brethren , Avho presented him Avith a valuable testimonial of sih'er plate , Avhile last year the present Earl of Zetland still more

conspicuously confirmed the approval of the brethren by conferring on him the rank of a Past Prov . S . G . AA arden , in connection Avith the celebration of the Queen ' s Jubilee . He Avas exalted in 1861 , and Avas installed M . E . Z . of the Minerva Chapter , No . 250 , in 1867 . He is a subscribing member of the Humber , Minerva and Kingston Chapters and honorary member of several others , and since 1867

has held the honorary office of Prov . G . Scribe E ., concurrently Avith that of Prov . G . Secretary . He A \ r as advanced in 1861 , and Avas installed AV . M . of the Minerva Mark Lodge , No . 12 , in 1866 . He was installed E . C . of the Ancient York Conclave of Redemption of the Order of the Temple in 1868 , Prov . G . Chancellor of North and East Yorkshire in 1864 , and held that office for many years . He

Avas perfected Rose Croix in the Ancient York Chapter of Redemption in 1863 , and Avas installed M . AV . S . in 1882 , having in the meantime received the 30 ° in 1870 . He is a life governor of all our charities , is a vice-president , and has tAvice served as steward for the boys ' school ; he also acted as steAvard for the girls' school at the recent centenary festival ; and is Hon . Secretary of the Prov .

Charities' Association of North and East Yorkshire ; lastly , he has done good service to Masonic literature by editing the best English edition of Mackey ' s "Lexicon of Freemasonry , " besides many lectures and orations on Masonry . AVe may add . that Bro . Peck is at present engaged on a history of Freemasonry in Hull ,

Avhich has already been some years in preparation . Bro . M . C . Peck is greatly respected and esteemed , not only by the brethren of his OAVII toAvn and province , but by the members of the Craft generally throughout the country , and his sage advice on ritual and other Masonic modus operandi is greatly sought after and as readily accorded .

MASONIC TRIP . —The members of the , ; Constance" Lodge of Freemasons , at Consett , Durham , arranged for a pic-nie , on Wednesday afternoon , to Blanchland . Throe brakes Avere hired from Mrs . Christopher and Messrs . T . C . RaAves & Co ., Consett , and Mr . J . Christopher , Blackhill , to drive them to the above place , and they started aAvay from Consett about noon . A good dinner and tea Avas provided for them at the Lord CrcAve Arms , Blanchland , by Mrs .

Imoson , and in the evening , after tea , a ball Avas held in a spacious room at the hotel . Throughout the day the Aveather was beautifully fine , and the members spent a most enjoyable day amongst the Avoods , & c , about the place . Amongst the holiday-seekers Avere Messrs . Logan , Bell , MattheAvs , and other men of note in the neighbourhood . The party returned at about 9 . 30 from Blanchland , and did not arrive in Consett until 12 p . m .
