Menkiniscb , and on its being unanimously in their favour , were initiated in the Order . Bro . Rake being a candidate for the second degree , having answered the usual

questions satisfactorily , was passed to the degree of a fellow craft , both ceremonies being perfectly -worked by the AV . M . The AV . The lodge was then closed , and the usual banquet followed , provided by Bro . Banks , the worthy host . The AA . M ., in eloquent terms , proposed the toast of the newly-initiated , which was responded to by Bro . Lionel Brough . In the course of his

speech he stated it had long been his ardent wish to become a Freemason , he had thought of it in the sister country , but he had determined if over he joined , it should be in England , and he was pleased to have become affiliated in so excellent a lodge as that of the lloyal Alfred Lodge . Bro . Ryder followed in u very appropriate speech . On the removal of the cloth , the usual loyal and complimentary speeches followed , and the brethren returned to town .
