The proceedings soon after terminated , after a most happy evening , which all present will long remember .

Bro . Henry Bridges , D . Prov . G . M ., presided . The minutes of the lodge held October 18 th , and also minutes of Lodges of Emergency held November 15 th and

December 20 th , 1861 , were read and confirmed . Bro . Edwin Down , P . M ., late of Lodge of Perpetual Friendship ( No . 157 ) , Bridgwater , was balloted for and unanimously elected a joining member . Mr . AVashington Lafayette Winterbotham , was initiated into the first degree of Freemasonry . Bro . Rake , Peddle , and Davidge having been examined and found duly qualified , were passed to the degree of F . C , and Bros . AVilson , Cook , and Andrews , were raised to tli 3 sublime degree

of M . M . Three brothers were proposed as joining members , and two gentlemen for initiation ; several letters of lodge business were disposed of . It was unanimously agreed that the balloting papers for tbe Girls' and Boys' School be given to the D . Prov . G . M . The lodge having been closed in due form , the brethren , numbering upwards of forty , retired to a banquet , after which the usual loyal ancl Masonic toasts were given ami responded to , and the brethren separated , after having spent a very pleasant evening .

Rogerson brought forward his motion , of which the members had had due notice " that the annual subseription of non-resident members be advanced 6 s . per annum ,

to take date from July 1 st , 1862 , and that the motion be printed in the next monthly circular . " After some further remarks Bro . P . M . Wm . Gath , expressed his pleasure in seconding the proposition . A short discussion arose , in which the AV . M ., Bro . P . M . D . Sahnond , Bro . P . M . W . Grath , Bro . P . M . Hill , and Bro . Charles Lees took part , when it was put to the vote and carried unanimously . The AVorshipful Master than called upon Bro . M . Rogerson , P . M ., to bring forward the report of

the Building Committee ofthe new lodge srooms , which he did , handing it to our legal Bro . Charles Lees to read over , our respected brother readily undertaking the duty . The report contained the total cost of the suite of rooms , including adaptation , decoration , furnishing , and legal charges , and enumerating each account for the information and satisfaction of the brethren . The trustees in retiring from tber labours begged to congratulate the brethren on the possession of such handsome and

commodous rooms , and also to thank those brethren employed in the various departments of the work for the satisfactory manner in which they had carried out their respective undertakings . It was moved and seconded that the report be adopted , ancl after the several trustees had subscribed their names to it , Bro . A . Briggs , S . D ., proposed that the report just read be placed among the archives of the lodge , which was seconded by Bro . G . E . Townend and carried . —Bro . A . HUUTEK made a few appropriate remarks prior to proposing a vote of thanks to the Trustees for

the manner they had worked ancl completed their trust , which was seconded by Bro . A . M . Matthews , J . AV ., and acknowledged by Bro . M . Rogerson , P . M ., the senior trustee . —The AV . M . then drew attention to a circular issued by the Building Committee , requesting contributions towards the building fund , which he was glad to state had been responded to in a very satisfactory manner , and he had great pleasure in handing over a handsome donation from the Royal Arch Chapter of Charity ( No . 379 . )—

—Bro . M . ROGEESON , P . M ., stated the premises adjoining the lodge were let to satisfactory tenants and which would materially assist the lodge fund each year . After prayer by the worthy Chaplain the lodged closed in harmony ac 9 . 30 . The brethren were invited by the AV . M . to refreshment , of which they partook vmder his presidency , supported by a large number of P . M ' s . After which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were iven and dulhonouredthe musical brethren giving their able

CHABEES LEES , who , in an able and humorous speech gave " The Past Masters of the Lodge of Hope , " to whose exertions in a great measure the present standing of the lodge in the province was due , coupling with it the name of AVm . Gath , P . M ., who , iu returning thanks , was sure the P . M ' s . were united to do all that lay in their power for both the advancement of Masonry

and the Lodge of Hope , and trusted the same cordiality might always reign among its members as it did at present . —The W .
