Rosslyn announced that lie bad received a letter from the Grand Secretary , Bro . Alexander Stewart , and was happy to say that that brother was recovering from his recent severe

indisposition . The following motion was then presented : — " That no office-bearer shall hold office for a longer period than three years ; and , on the expiry of his term of office , shall not be eligible for re-election to the same office , an d that at least three years must elapse before he be appointed to it again . This

not to apply to the Grand Master or paid officials . " A discussion took place upon this motion , in the course of which the Earl of Dalhousie remarked that no good could he derived from adopting it . If any one objected to the proposing of a brother at their annual nomination , let him come forward like a man and propose a substitute . On a division the motion was lost by a great majority . After the taking of several motions for consideration at next meeting , the Grand Lodge was closed iu ample form .
