Talton Church , near Ottery , South DCATIII , AVUS rc-opcned on the Sth ult . The edifice , haA-ing become ruinous , has been rebuilt , with the exception of the toAver , Avhich is a curious example of the Perpendicular style , there being seven or eig ht niches Avith saints and eA-angclists on the upper stage and stair turret . The Museum is being impi-OA'ed , and a new gallery constructed for the modern pictures . Tho Wicar Museum of ancient drawings is Avell arranged , and consists of 1 / 135 numbers , all framed . The draAvings from the sketch-book of Michelangelo are the great feature of the collection .

They are in number 198 , and , being on both sides of tho leaA es , are framed between sheets of glass . There is an entirely autograph letter of Francis I ., addressed to Michelangelo , expressing his desire to possess some of his

sculptures . As his Royal Highness the Prince Consort has sent Mr . Bingham to photograph these draAvings , of such high interest to architects , it may bo hoped it is for the object of their being circulated among the profession . The Museum also possesses sixty-seven drawings by the divine Eaffaellc , some of the highest beauty . The tower ofthe Hotel de Villc , Brnssels , basbccnrestorcd

to the base , and all tho A'acant niches filled with statues . A scaffolding now encloses a portion of the eastern wing for a similar purpose . The largo Avhoel windoiv in the neAV church at Rugby has lately been filled with stained glass with subjects showing parables of our Saviour , A'iz ., the Good Samaritan , Good Shepherd , Prodigal Son , Labourers in the Vineyard , Lost Sheep , Marriage Feast , Dives and Lazarus ; as also Angelsbearing scrolls . Three AvindoAvs have just been fixed in Upton Church ,

Leamington Priors Avith the folloAving subjects : —one threelight Avindow , Christ Blessing Little '" Children , and the Actsof Charity in four subjects ; one two-light window , Raising the WidoAv ' s Son , Heating the Sick ; one single light , of the Ascension .

St . Mary ' s Church , Stamford , will bo re-opened next week , on the completion of the Avorks . The present restoration has been confined to the chancel , and consists of a IIGAV panelled roof , a handsome alabaster reredos , east AVUKIOAV , south Avindow , & o . Each AvincloAV will be filled with stained glass , by Mr . Wailos , of Newcastle . When the Rev . G . A . Poole described this church in September last , on the occasion of

tho visit of the Architectural Society , he said the chancel Avas of a style ( Decorated ) Avhich commenced in tho reign of Edward I ., an assertion that Avas not unanimously adopted by his hearers . But Avhatcver doubts ma ) 1 " then haA-e been entertained as to the date of this part of the church they Avere removed in preparing for the present restoration , the removal of the roof showing au ornament that A \ as introduced into the transitional Norman and Early English Avork , and Avhich Avas not adopted by tho fourteenth centuryarchitects .

The new Congregational Church , at Ealing , a pretty village in Middlesex , was opened on Wednesday last , Avhen special opening services took place . Both in the morning and evening the audiences lvcre numerous , and much satisfaction Avas expressed by all at the neat and elegant appearance of the structure . The old Congregational Church , situated in the Grove , Ealing , which provided accommodation for only

300 persons , being found far too small for a rapidly increasing congregation , it Avas resolved some time ago to build a larger and more commodious chapel . Steps Avere immediately taken to carry out the object , and contributions flowed in freely from the members of the congregation and their friends . The foundation-stone of the new chapel , Avhich is situated onEaling-green , AVAS laid by the Right Hon . Lord

The old chapel in the Grove , Avhich the new building replaces , has been sold , and it is to become a district school , the proceeds of tho sale being added to the voluntary subscription fund of the new placo of Avorship .
