M . stated that the handsome granite monument erected iu tbe cemetery to the brethren of Union Lodge who had died , was now uncovered , and it reflected great credit on the Masons from the mainland who had alone
contributed towards its erection ; it bore the following- superscription : "In memory of Bro . J . J . Miller , who was drowned at Douglas , 10 th July . 1863 . " Bro . Valentine Hall , Sarnia , Canada \ A est , died 18 th March , 1 S 66 . " Bro . J . F . AVhitford , died 2 nd July , 1 S 66 ; all buried by the Freemasons here .
"Also , Bro . John B . Gaggin , J . P ., of Cork , died April , 1867 , and buried at Ronteuay , Honduras , died at Belize , 1 S 66 , and buried there . ' Bro . Greville C . Mathers , Colonial Secretary , Honduras , died at Belize . 1 S 66 , and buried there . "The above brethren were members of Union Lodge , S 99 , E . R ., New AA estminster , and this monument is erected by the Freemasons to their memory . "
A sum was now required to complete the railing , lor which sufficient money was subscribed but not collected , and he projiosed the money should be advanced by the lodge to pay the workmen , and to bo paid back to the lodge when the subscriptions come in . This was seconded by Bro . Mara , and on being put to lodge was declared carried . The AV . M . stated V . o intended to make arrangements to have weekly lodges of instruction . The AV . M . asked before the lodge closed , that the Masonic honours
should be given to Bro . C . Hughes , who was made in this lodge , and many years an active member thereof ; he was now AV . M . of Mount Moria Lodge , S . R ,, Burrard's Inlet , of which place he was a resident , and he now visited us for the first time . They ought to have received him with the honours , aud he now requested them to be given before he left . The honours were then given . No further work appearing for the good of this lodge in Masonry in particular , it was closed to the next regular communication .

Chapter , held 25 th March , 1868 , were read and confirmed , lhe various chapters then communicated , all of which ( with the exception of the King Edwin Chapter , Malton ) , were represented . The by-laws for the government of the Prov . G . Chap , were then submitted for confirmation , when , on the proposition of Comp . Cowling , it was resolved " That by-law 3 be altered so that the fee of honour on re-appointment should be half that
on first appointment . " The by-laws ( with the above amendment ) were then finally confirmed . Comp . Spun- then moved " that the sum of five guineas be voted to the Palestine Exploration Fund , " which was duly seconded . Comp . Cowling moved , as an . amendment , " that ten guineas be voted for the above object , " which was seconded b y Comp . March , ' and supported by the Prov . Grand Registrar ; whereupon Comp . Spun- withdrew his motionand the
amend-, ment was carried unanimously . The Prov . G . Treas . moved " that the sum of twenty-five pounds be voted to the Zetland Commemoration Fund , " which was seconded by Comp . Dr . Rooke and carried unanimously . Comp . Cowling suggested that the Prov . G . Treas . be
empowered to pay the sums voted at once , without waiting for the confirmation of the next Prov . G . Chap . A motion to this effect was then put to the companions present and carried unanimously . Province should each nominate a Prov . G . Steward . The M . E . G . Supt . then offered some remarks upon the proceedings of the last Prov . G . Chapter with reference to the efforts of himself and others for securing correctness and uniformity of ritual , but stated that although the subject was now engaging the attention of the Craft generally , yet he feared some time would still elapse before anything could be determined upon . He thanked the Companions for their large attendance
which manifested an increased attention to Royal Arch Masonry , and he trusted that nothing would be found wanting on his part to promote the success of the Prov . G . Chapter , and stated that he should be always at their service . The M . E . G . Supt . thou delivered an interesting address on the Antiquity of the Order , and stated that , having received an invitation from , the Britannia Chapter , he should hold the next Prov . G . Chapter at AVhitby .
The Prov- G . Chapter was then closed iu ancient form and with solemn prayer . A banquet was held at the George Hotel the same evening , at which the M . E . G . Supt . presided . During the evening the greatest harmony and friendship prevailed .
