support and cordial greeting experienced by them on their first opening the Lodge No . 322 , forwarding a donation of Rupees 50 to the Masonic Eund of Benevolence , with their best wishes that the Eund might flourish , and continue to reflect credit on Ithe founder of so valuable a charitable institution . The Prov . Grand Secretary announced that , since the last communication of the District Grand Lodge , three new Lodges had been constituted in this Province , namely : —at Rawul Pindee , called the " Bamsay Lodge ; " at Eerozepoor , named "Light of the North ; " at Thayetmyo ( Pegu ) , named " Astrsea . "

At the opening of the Lodges at Bawul Pindee and Eerozepoor , the Prov . Grand Master presided ; and the Lodge at Thayetmyo was opened with the kind aid of the W . M . ( Bro . H . G . Colvill ) and Brethren of the Irish Lodge in H . M . ' s 20 th Regiment . Two old and well-known Past Masters in this Province have been elected Masters of the Lodges at Eerozepoor and Thayetmyo , viz ., W . Bro .

M . Thompson in the former , and W . Bro * G . L . Cooper in the latter . The Lodge at Bawul Pindee , too , opened under the auspices of another old Past Master , W . Bro . E . Knollys , who , however , was immediately after compelled to proceed home for the recovery of his health . The Lodge is now ruled by a young , but zealous Mason , W . Bro . F . H „ Smith , who was highly recommended by W . Bro . Knollys to the notice of the Prov . Grand Master .

An application for constituting a Lodge at Subathoo had been received , and was under consideration . The Past Deputy Prov . Grand Master , presiding on the throne , stated that he had received from the Prov . Grand Master ( now at Simla ) a . document which he had been requested to read in the District Grand Lodge . He then read a patent from Bro . Bamsay , Prov . G . M ., appointing Bro . John Jacob Louis Hoff , to be Dep . Prov . G . M . of Bengal , and Bro . William Hall Hoff , Assist . Prov . G . Sec , to be Prov- G . Sec .

The Past Deputy Prov . Grand Master presiding on the throne , expressed the great satisfaction he felt at the nomination of B . W . Bro . Hoff to so high and important an office , the duties of which he was so eminently qualified to fulfil to the advantage of the Craft . The announcement of the appointment of B . W . Bro . Hoff , as Deputy Prov . G . M . of Bengal and its territories , was received with a demonstration of approval by the Brethren present in the Grand Lodge ; and the patent was then handed to R . W . Bro . HofT .

There being nothing further before the District Grand Lodge , it was closed in form .

CAWNPORE . Address to W . Bro . Brandon .- —A correspondent , writing from " Jaujemow Eactory , near Cawnpore , " requests us , says the India Freemasons' Friend , to publish the following address , which was presented to W . Bro . John Rose Brandon , W . M . of Lodge Harmony , No . 641 , and Brincipal Z . of Chapter Harmony with Eidelity , on the occasion of his leaving Cawnpore with the ex-King of Oude : —¦

Dear Sir , W . Bro ., Friend and Associate ,- —In accordance with the resolution passed unanimously in open Lodge assembled on the 27 th March , we have much pleasure in presenting this address , expressive of the high estimation in which you are held by us , as a man and a Mason ; for in all emergencies of difficulty and distress , you have afforded Brotherly aid . And further , you have our most cordial thanks for your many magnificent presents to Lodge Harmony and Chapter Harmony with Fidelity ; your last crowning gift being , to the Chapter , of twelve silk banners , bearing the emblems of the twelve tribes of Israel , executed

in England by talented artists . And it is , moreover , peculiarly agreeable to our feelings to give unequivocal testimony to the many benevolent gifts given in private , not only to the widows and orphans of Christians and Masons , but to the really afflicted of other creeds . That your absence from the Lodge may be short , and that we may soon congratulate you on your return to us after a happy voyage to England and prosperous residence there , and that every blessing may attend yourself and family , is the sincere and fervent prayer of every member . May we advance step by step on the rounds of the Masonic ladder , till we attain to that
