Owing to the resignation of his office by the late Grand Master of this Province , the Duke of Leinster , the Grand Master of Ireland has appointed the Marquis of Donegal to be Prov . G . The District Grand Lodge was opened in form . The minutes of the quarterly communication held on the 27 th December last were read and confirmed . The Prov . Grand Secretary stated that he had received a printed report of a communication of the Prov . Grand Lodge of Madras held on the 1 st February last , and that the reports of the District Grand Lodge of Bengal continued to be sent to the Prov . Grand Lodge of Madras , as well as to that of Bombay . A deputation from the District Grand Lodge of Bengal and its territories proceeded to Government House on the afternoon of Tuesdav . the 4 th March , for ¦ -

— - - - - , / / - the purpose of presenting a valedictory address to the Most Noble and Most Worshipful the Marquis of Balhousie , K . T ., Lord Patron of Masonry in Bengal , on the occasion of his approaching departure from India , who was pleased to make a most fraternal reply ( the address and reply have been already published ) . The Prov . G . Sec . also announced that the Brov . Grand Master had conferred the honorary rank of a P . Brov . S . G . D . on the undermentioned Brethren , in recognition of their long and meritorious services to the Craft , and the high estimation in which thev were held in it , viz .: —W . Bros . Edward Knollys , P . M .,

Lodges Nos . 823 and 852 ; Alexander Chisholm , B . M ., Lodge , No . 550 ; and that these Brethren had been furnished with patents accordingly . W . Bro . W . H . Owen having resigned the office of Brov . G . Steward , in March last , his resignation was accepted by the Prov . G . M . with regret ; and the following appointments have been made to fill existing vacancies : —W . Bros . John Brown , W . M ., Lodge No . 126 ; Thomas E . Carter , Lodge No . 265 ; Benjamin R . Wheelright , Lodge No . 715 , to he Brov . G . Stewards . Bead the following from the Secretary to the Freemasons' Hall Association : —
