Sec . read the regulations for conducting the proceedings of the Prov . Grand Lodge .

The minutes of the Prov . Grand Lodge held at Hastings in October last were read and confirmed . The Prov . Grand Lodge of Hampshire , headed by the K . W . Bro . Sir Lucius Curtis , Bart ., entered the Lodge , and was received with honours . The D . Prov . G . M . desired the G . Sec . to read the correspondence relative to a proposal for the formation of a new Lodge in Brighton , to be called the Royal Brunswick Lodge . A petition to this effect , regular in form and duly and

properly signed , having been , early in the year 1855 , presented to the Royal Clarence Lodge , No . 338 , it was hy that Lodge recommended , and it also had the recommendation of Colonel McQueen , the D . Prov . G . M . The petition was forwarded to the Grand Secretary ' s office , and , and after waiting some time for a reply , on the 19 th of March , 1856 , a letter was addressed to Bro . White , the G . Sec , by the Prov . G . Sec , desiring to know the cause of the delay , to which no reply was sent ; and consequently , on the 21 st of May , the Prov . G . Sec . addressed a letter to the same effect to Bro . Farnfield :

to this Bro . Farnfield , on the 26 th of May , replied , that the G . Sec . ( his superior ) desired some further information on the subject , and would write to Colonel McQueen . Bro . McQueen , in August , not receiving the promised communication from the G . Sec , again wrote to Bro . White ; but up to the present hour no notice , save and except Bro . FarnfiekTs letter of May 26 , had been taken

either of petition or letters . The D . Prov . G . M . said , that having put the Prov . Grand Lodge in possession of the facts of the case , he would ask , did any one present desire that further steps should be taken ? Bro . Wood , W . M ., No . 394 , said that not one of the applicants was then present , bat that as he knew their sentiments on the subject , and agreeing with those Brethren that there still existed a strong desire for a new Lodge , he trusted that no efforts would be spared to obtain a warrant . Hereupon the D . Prov . G . M . said he should take further steps to obtain the object of the ¦ petitioners .

The report of the audit committee showed that the balance now in the hands of the G . Treas . was £ 14 . 12 s . 9 d . ; and that the entire expense for regalia , & c , necessary on the re-establishment of the Prov . Grand Lodge , amounting to £ 125 had been paid , and all other charges cleared . This report was received , adopted , and ordered to be printed . It was proposed that a subscription of five guineas each be granted to the girls' school , the boys' school , and the Benevolent

Annuity fund , which being seconded was carried unanimously . The I ) . Prov . G . M . then called on the Brethren to elect a Grand Treasurer , and Bro . Cordy nominated Bro . William Verrall for re-election : a ballot was taken , and that Brother was unanimously re-elected , and duly invested by the D . Prov . G . M . The D . Prov . G . M . then called on his Officers to deliver up their regalia of office , and proceeded to appoint as the Officers for the year ensuing the following Brethren : —Cordy , Prov . G . S .
