At six o ' clock the grand banquet was held in the Municipal Hall , in which covers for fifty guests were laid . The hall was splendidly decorated with flags , banners , regalia , & c , which completely covered the walls on all sides of the room , the effect being extremely pretty and imposing . Large bouquets of flowers and floral devices also adorned the tables , which contrasted nicely with the other decorations just mentioned .

The band of the Chatsworth Rifles was stationed on the bowling-green , under cover , and during dinner played a number of fashionable pieces in excellent style , which added animation to the occasion . The dinner , which was of a most recherche description , was provided in excellent style by Mrs . Pinder ; the variety and abundance of the viands , and the excellent manner in which it was served , gave great satisfaction to all who partook of it .

In the course of the evening various appropriate toasts were drunk , and Bro . Rev . G-. Wright gave some excellent advice to the Brethren , showing that Freemasonry is not inconsistent with revealed religion . Bros . Bennison , Cutts , Buxton , Lomas , Turner , and Huggins , added to the harmony of the meeting by singing several appropriate songs . Thus has passed a day that will long be remembered by the Freemasons in Chesterfield , and we hope this will be an era of mutual , social , and intellectual progress , and that they will show forth that Freemasonry is pure and its requirements are j ust .
