After the reading of the last minutes , the Book of the Laws of the Grand Lodge of Scotland was laid before the R . W . M ., and the Secretary then read the minute of 3 rd current , containing the nomination of office-bearers . D . M . Bro . Campbell proposed that Bro . W . B . Huggins be again elected R . W . M ., which motion was seconded by Bro . John Reid , and unanimously carried . R . W . M . Bro . Huggins having , along with the D . M . and both Wardens , assented to the " Ancient

Charges and Rules " as read by Bro . Mitchell , the Secretary , was formally installed in his office of R . W . M . Thereupon Bro . Huggins severally invested with the respective Jewels of Office and installed the following Brethren , being the nominated office-bearers present ; viz . —Bros . Donald Campbell , D . M . ; John Reid , S . W . ; Robert Thomson , jun ., J . W . ; John M . Rowan , Treas . ; David Houston , Dep . Treas . ; Robert Mitchell , Sec . ; W . F . Buckie , jun ., Deacon ; W . A . G „ M'Leod and J . K . Donald , Stewards ; Alexander Macdonald , Jeweller ; John Aird , Clothier ; James Pollock , Tyler .

Bro . John Werge presented to the members a beautifully-finished and chastelyframed full-length photographic portrait of D . M . Bro . Donald Campbell , adorned with Masonic costume , and requested that , as it had been a labour of love , it might in time coming hang upon the walls , and be an ornament of the Lodge . The R . W . M . ' s motion that Bros . A . Macdonald , J . N . Sutherland , and R . Mitchell be appointed Auditors , was agreed to . The Rev . Mr , Lambie was proposed for admission as an honorary member , which motion was seconded by Bro . G . J . Lyon , and carried with applause .

Another meeting was held on the 7 th of January , over which Bro . D . Campbell presided as R . W . M ., and was assisted by both Wardens . Applications were received from John Laurie , Esq ., and Capt . William Miller , Glasgow , who were both found well recommended , were duly prepared , initiated , and had Instructors appointed to them . Bro . James Home and J . N . Sutherland were installed in their respective offices of Sub-M . and Ben . Deacon ; and Bro . J . F . Skene , advocate ,

R . W . M ., of St . Luke ' s Lodge , Edinburgh , No . 44 , was , on a motion to that effect , regularly made , seconded , and carried , affiliated , and made an honorary member . During refreshment , Bro . James Home , S . M ., read a comprehensive and excellent paper on the " Influence of Scientific Associations , " in which he started many highly-interesting and original topics , which engaged the attention and were much appreciated by the meeting . Bro . Henry Johnston having come into Lodge , was installed as Inner Guard , and the formal closing of the Lodge terminated the proceedings of an intellectual and happy-spent evening .

The Mallet was in the hands of Bro . Donald Campbell at the meeting held on the 9 th January , and Bros . John Reid , S . W ., and J . K . Donald , acting J . W ., aided him in raising to the Sublime Degree of M . M . Bros . Thomas Henderson , Alexander Paterson , and Adam McLellan . Bro . Campbell moved that a vote of thanks to Bro . James Home , S . M ., for his able Essay delivered last meeting , be recorded in the minute-book ; and this motion was seconded by the S . W ., and very heartily carried .

On the 21 st January , the Lodge was opened by Bro . Donald Campbell , D . M .., and Bros . John Reid and Robert Thomson , jun ., as Wardens ; a number of other office-bearers and Brethren were likewise in Lodge . Francis Younger , Esq ., merchant , Ingram-street , and Mr . John Borland , clothier , Argyll-street , Glasgow , presented applications sufficiently recommended , and , being found qualified , they were prepared and initiated . Instructors were , as usual , appointed to these apprentices- Bro . John Laurie was passed to the Fellow-craft Degree ; and the J . W . having accomplished the duties of his office , and the S . W . of his , the Lodge was declared closed by the R . W . M . officiating .

ROYAL ARCH . The Union Royal Arch Chapter , Dundee , No . 6 on the Roll of the Supremo G . R . A . Chapter of Scotland , was at one period in line condition , but gradually declined ; and after 1838 , remained in a dormant state for many years . Indeed , except for the Zealand care of a very worthy Companion , James Jack , who with difficult y mustered an annual meeting in his own house , in order to conform to the
