NORTHAMPTONSHIRE . Northampton " . —Pomfret Lodge ( No . 463 ) . —The Brethren of this Lodge celebrated the Festival of St . John at the George Hotel , on the 27 th December , when , the Lodge having been opened , Bro . Wm . Worster , the W . M . elect , was installed into the chair for the year 1856 , by Bro . John Whiteman , P . M . After the Installation , Bro . Worster proceeded to appoint the following Brethren as his Office-bearers for the year ; namely , R . T . Wartnaby , S . W . ; Roberts , J . W .

Robinson , Sec . ; Balaam , S . D . ; Shaw , J . D . ; Beam , Dunkley , Stewards ; and Gates , I . G . Mr . Wm . Wake was then proposed as a fit and proper person to become a member of the Craft . The Brethren and their visitors , amounting together to forty-six , then partook of a sumptuous banquet . Amongst the visiting Brethren we noticed the Bev . J . Sidebottom , P . G . C ., Oxon , No . 702 ; Markham , No . 212 ; Bacon , Turner , Savage , and Colyer , No . 652 ; and Riley , Thompson , Horsfield , Budge , Yialls , Piatt , and Campion , jun ., No . 787 .

NORTHUMBERLAND . Blyth . —Blagdon Lodge ( No . 957 ) . —The first regular meeting of this Lodgea Lodge which has obtained its charter so recently that it is not mentioned in the calendar—was held on the 9 th January , under a dispensation from the Rev . Edward Challoner Ogle , G . M . of the Province . Five candidates were initiated by Bro . James Morton Winn , the W . M . elect , with much ability . Bro . J . G . Tulloch , W . M ., St . George ' s Lodge , No . 624 , delivered in a beautiful manner a Masonic address .

The Lodge was closed in love and harmony , and the Brethren then retired for refreshment . The W . M . presided , supported on his right by Bros . Richard Medcalf , D . Prov . G . M ., Northumberland , and J . G . Tulloch , W . M ., No . 624 ; and on his left by Bros . George Weatherhead , P . M ., No . 24 , and P . Prov . G . J . W . ; Jas . D . Brown , S . W ., No . 624 ; and James Prendergast , J . W ., No . 793 . The vice-chairs were filled by Bros . Robert Eisher , S . W ., and Thomas Cockburn , J . W .

The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given , and warmly responded to . The W . M . proposed , in suitable terms , the health of the Rev . E . Challoner Ogle , Brov . G . M ., Northumberland , and the Brov . Grand Officers . Bro . Geo . Weatherhead , P . Prov . G . J . W ., replied . The W . M . then proposed the health of Bro . Richard Medcalf , D , Prov . G . M ., who had done them the honour to be present . He ( the W . M . ) knew that the D . Prov . G . M . had long taken a deep interest in the welfare of the flourishing old port of Blyth , and he had now brought his

exertions to a successful issue by establishing in it that invaluable institution —a Masonic Lodge . He begged to give them the health of Bro . Richard Medcalf , D . Prov . G . M . The D . Prov . G . M . replied . Bro . Medcalf , D . Prov . G . M ., in eulogistic terms , proposed the health of the W . M ., who warmly responded to the toast . The B . Prov . G . M . then , in a flattering manner , proposed the healths of Bros . Fisher and Cockburn , the S . and J . Wardens , who replied . Several other toasts were then proposed , including " Bro . Hardy , S . D . of the Blagdon Lodge , and the assistant officers , " coupling with the toast the healths of Bros . Hindhagh ,

Terry , and Dickson , who had kindly given their services on that occasion . Bro . Hardy , in reply , said the assistant officers were not insensible to the honours done them on that occasion , and they would endeavour to prove to the Masonic world that the " young blood" of the Fraternity was worthy of all the confidence placed in it . The health of Bro . Barton , who had kindly performed the duties of Secretary pro . tern ., was given , and neatly responded to . Several songs by Bros . Tulloch , Brown , and Barton , were given at intervals with happy effect , and added much to the enjoyment of the evening .

Gateshead . —Borough . Lodge ( No . 164 ) . —The monthly meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday , Jan . 21 st , when Bro . W . E . Franklin , of Newcastle-on-Tyne , the welhknown and enterprising bookseller to the North Eastern Railway , was elected W . M . for the next twelve months . Bro . Franklin also ably initiated Mr . James M . ' aiming as a Brother in the Craft . Newcastle-upon-Tyne . —Ncwcastk-wpon-Tyne Lodge ( No . 24 ) .- —The members of this Lodge assembled in the Freemasons' Hall , Blackett Street , on the 27 th of
