John ' s was celebrated by this Lodge , on the 3 rd of January . The proceedings commenced at the Masonic Hall , where there were present , Bros . Bates , W . M . ; Bainey , P . M . and P . Prov . G . S . D . ; Tidswell , P . M . and P . G . S . B . ; Clark , P . M . ;

Pocklington , S . W . ; Ridgway , J . D . ; Dolman , Cartwright , Gilbert , Bingham , Briggs , I . G . ; and Handley , T . ; and the following visitors from the Lodge of Harmony , No . 339 ( Boston ) : — Bros . Geo . Jackson , W . M . ; Greenwood , P . M . and P . M . C . ; Keller , P . G . Org . ; Wm . Smith ; Jackson ( Edw . ) , S . D , ; Waghorn , J . D . ; and Turner . Bro . Bates , the W . M ., passed Bro . Gilbert to the Second Degree ; and Bro . Pocklington was installed W . M . for the ensuing year ; Bro . Tidswell officiating as Installing Master , in an able manner . Bro . Keller filled his office as P . G . Org .

The W . M . afterwards appointed and invested Bro . Bates , Sec . ; Bro . Ridgway , J . W . ; Bro . Dolman , S . D . ; and Bro . Briggs , I . G . ; and the Lodge , having unanimously re-appointed Bro . Tidswell , Tr ., he was also invested . The Lodge was then closed , and the Brethren adjourned to Bro . Bingham ' s , at the White Hart Hotel , and partook of their anniversary banquet . Bro . Pocklington , the W . M ., in giving " The Queen and Craft , " alluded to the loyalty of Masons as shown by the best and noblest of the land not only being Masons , but Governors of Grand , Provincial Grand , and Craft Lodges ; and feelingly alluded to the

Soldier Masons in the Crimea , who had died fighting for their country . The health of the Earl of Zetland , G . M . was followed by that of the Earl of Yarborough , D . G . M ., and Prov . G . M . of Lincolnshire . The W . M ., in proposing the toast , hoped the G . A . O . T . U . would be pleased to restore him to perfect health , so that he might yet , for many years , govern the Province with his accustomed freedom , fervency , and zeal . The health of the D . Prov . G . M . of Lincolnshire , Bro . Nairne , and the rest of the officers , past and present , of the Brovincial Lodge was then given , and ably responded to by Bro . Greenwood , P . M . C .

The W . M . m proposing the health of the immediate P . M ., Bro . Bates , observed that the former Lodge-room , being very unfit for the purpose , had been abandoned , and the present room , in every way a credit to the Craft , had been obtained , and decorated under the immediate superintendence of that Brother . Bro . Bates made a suitable reply . Bro , Smith , in highly complimentary language , proposed the health of the

W . M ., who , in responding to the toast , recommended any Brother who might be indifferent or careless about Masonry , to examine the existing evidences of its antiquity ( to be found in the museums of this country and the continent ) , and by studying Dr . Oliver ' s Masonic publications and other antiquarian works , to open a storehouse of knowledge , and create a love for Masonry , which was ever the world's teacher in everything that was good , concealing only those secrets which bind the Brethren closer together .

Bro . Greenwood , in giving the P . M . s and other Officers of the Hundred of Elloe Lodge , remarked that , in working , the Lodge was A 1 ; and he trusted the friendly intercourse between that Lodge and the Lodge of Harmony , would continue unabated . "The W . M . of the Lodge of Harmony , " "The Yisiting Brethren , " and other accustomed Masonic toasts and sentiments were given , and the Brethren parted , highly satisfied with the evening ' s proceedings .

Spilsby . —Shalcspeare Lodge ( No . 617 ) . —The Brethren of this Lodge celebrated the Festival of St . John , when Bro . Be v . Bf J . Wood , P . G . Chap ., very ably installed Bro . Charles Marshall as W . M . for the ensuing year ; after winch the W . M . appointed and invested the following officers : —Bros . Cash , S . W . ; Ed . Bainey , J . W . ; Mackintosh , P . M ., Treas . ; Fred . Bainey , Sec . ; Bev . B . Wood , P . M ., P . G . O ., Chap . ; Shaw , S . D . ; Lincoln , J . D . ; S . Brown , I . G . ; G . Badley , T . A sumptuous banquet was provided at the White Hart , where the Brethren spent a most delightful evening , and separated in peace , harmony , and brotherly love .
