The New Past Grand Officers.—(Provincial.)

Bro . fohn M . Read svas initiated in the Royal Brunswick Lodge , No . 732 , in 186 4 , of which lodge he became W . M . in 1869 . He svas exalted in the Royal Sussex Chapter in 18 7 6 , and tilled the chair of First Principal in 1887 . He is a Past Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works of the Province of Sussex , and has been Provincial Grand Treasurer

in both the Craft and Royal Arch since 1890 . Bro . Reed has served several Stewardships for the Central Charities , and is also a subscriber to the Provincial Association of Benevolence .

No appointment to Grand rank lias given greater satisfaction than that of our venerable and esteemed Bro . Charles Lee . His Masonic services cover nearly half a century , he having been initiated in the Athol Lodge , Xo . 74 , then Xo . 88 , in the year 18 37 , in which lodge he svas installed

as Master in 186 4 , and again in 1900 . He svas exalted in the Athol ( nosv the Israel ) Royal Arch Chapter , Xo . 74 , in 1862 . His provincial appointments have been : —Provincial Grand Pursuivant of Warwickshire in 186 4 , Provincial Senior Grand Deacon in 1870 , Provincial Grand Warden in 1872 in the

Craft , and Provincial Grand Standard Bearer in 1862 in the Royal Arch . Bro . Lee has served several Stewardships for the Charities , and is a Vice-President of the Boys' School and a Life Governor of the Girls' School and Benevolent Institution .

Provincial Grand Deacon in both the Provinces of Suffolk and Warwickshire . He svas exalted in St . Andrew ' s Royal Arch Chapter , Xo . 16 31 , in 1881 , and svas installed as M . E . Z .

year appointed Provincial Grand H . of Berkshire , and in 1882 Senior Grand Deacon in the Mark Degree . He is also a Rose Croix Mason . A member of the Board of Management of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , he is a Vice-President , and has served three Stesvardships in the Institution , as well as being a Life Governor of the other tsvo Charities , for each of which he has served as Steward .

Bro . William D . P . Field svas initiated in the Lewis Lodge , No . 872 , Whitehaven , in 188 3 , of which lodge lie became W . M . in 1888 . He was one of the founders and the first W . M . of the Temperantia Lodge , No . 28 34 ; a founder of the Alston Lodge , No . 2794 , and the Border Citv Lodge ,

No . 2906 , as svell as of the Ambleside Royal Arch Chapter . On the death of Bro . Dalrymple in 1900 , lie svas appointed Provincial Grand Secretary of Cumberland and Westmoreland , an office he still holds . He is also G . S . E . of the Province . Bro . Field is a Life Governor of the Benevolent

Institution and of the Boys' School , while locally he svas the founder of the Educational and Benevolent scheme for Cumberland and Westmorland and Honorary Secretary since its formation in 18 94 . Bro . George Ellard , who svas last year appointed

Provincial Grand Secretary of Norths and Hunts in succession to Bro . Buckle , has been a member of the Craft since 187 ^ , having been initiated in that year in the Pomfret Lodge , No . 3 60 . He aftersvards took part in founding the Eleanor Cross Lodge , No . 17 64 , and the Kingsley Lodge , No . 24 ^ 1 ,
