of Mount Edgcumbe , Sir Charles R . Graves-Sawle , and many other well-known Cornish Craftsmen as founders and members ; about a score being subscribing P . M . ' s to lodges in the County ; the Treasurer being Bro . William Lake ( P . M . 131 , Truro ) , the ever-courteous Assistant Grand Secretary of

England ; and the energetic Secretary is Bro . R . Greenwood , P . M . The lodge has proved quite a Masonic centre for Cornish Craftsmen in town , and several of the members have frequently been of great assistance in securing the election of Cornish candidates into the Institutions .

PAST GRAND DEACONS . Bro . Henry Jackson svas initiated in Lodge Benevolence , Xo . 33 6 , in 1868 , and occupied the Master's chair in 1872 . He also joined the Unity Lodge , No . 321 , in 18 95 . His exaltation in Royal Arch Masonry took place in the Richard Newhouse Chapter , No . 2433 , and he is also a member of the Royal Cheshire Chapter , No . 8 9 . Bro . Jackson has on

1 SRO . HENRY JACKSON . three occasions been honoured ssith office in Provincial Grand Lodge , having been appointed Provincial Senior Grand Deacon in 18 91 , Provincial junior Grand Warden in

18 9 6 , and is this year Provincial Senior Grand Warden . He takes the keenest interest in the excellently organised local Charities , and is a Life Governor of each of the Central Institutions .

Bro . Ellice Hicks-Beach is a son of the late highly esteemed and popular Bro . the Right Hon . W . W . Bramston Beach , M . P ., Provincial Grand Master for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight . He was initiated in the United Lodge , No . 1629 , in 18 94 , and svas installed W . M . in 18 99 . In 1901 he joined Economy Lodge , Xo . 76 , Winchester , and is an

honorary member of the Oakley Lodge , Xo . 6 94 . He svas exalted as a Royal Arch Mason in the Oakley Chapter in 18 97 . Bro . Beach is an Attache of the British Legation at Stockholm .

Bro . Hugh E . Diamond svas initiated in the Royal Sussex Lodge , No . 353 , in 1870 , and became W . M . in 1875 . He assisted in founding the Nottinghamshire Lodge , No . 1434 ; the Pellipar Lodge , No . 26 93 ; and the Old Masonians Lodge , No . 2700 ; and in 1891 filled the chair of W . M . in

the Anchor Lodge , No . 1704 . In 1875 he received the appointment of Provincial Grand Warden ol " Derbyshire . He was exalted in the Mount Lebanon Chapter , No . 435 , in 1878 , and was installed as M . E . Z . in 1882 . Bro . Diamond has served no less than twenty-six Stewardships for Ihe Charities , and is a Patron of the Boys' School and a

Yice-Patron of the Girls' School and of the Benevolent Institution . He is also a member of the Board of Management of the Boys' School .

Bro . Matthew Foitescue is a Mason of over forty years standing , having been initiated in 1861 , in the Albion Lodge , then Xo . 17 under the Grand Lodge of England . He joined the Lodge of Union , Xo . 444 , Starcross , in 1 893 , and became W . M . in 18 95 . In 18 9 6 he svas appointed Provincial

Senior Grand Warden of Devon . His membership of the Royal Arch dates from 1892 , having been exalted in the Devon Chapter , Xo . 113 8 , afterwards joining the Union Chapter , Xo . 444 . He has Idled the chair of First Principal in both these chapters , and in 18 9 6 was appointed Provincial

Grand Z . Bro . Fortescue is a Life Governor of " the Girls ' School . Bro . Nicholas A . Earle has nearly completed his third

decade of " Masonic service , having been initiated in the Travellers Lodge , Xo . 1253 , in 1873 . In 1881 he joined the Social Lodge , Xo . 62 , and was installed W . M . in 1887 , and again in 18 9 8 . He is also a member and P . M . of the Fortitude Lodge , Xo . 6 4 . He became a Royal Arch Mason

in 1873 , having been exalted in the Social Chapter , No . 62 . In 188 9 he was installed as M . E . Z ., and is a Past Provincial Grand Registrar of East Lancashire . Bro . Earle is a Patron both of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls and of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and a Life Governor of

the Benevolent Institution . He is also a Patron of the East Lancashire Systematic Educational and Benevolent Association , and is at present its Hon . Secretary .

Bro . Arthur B . Preston ss'as initiated in the Apollo University Lodge , Xo . 357 , in 1880 . He joined the Oxford and Cambridge University Lodge , Xo . 1118 , in 1881 , and the St . Mary Magdalen , Xo . 1523 , in 1888 , and has occupied the Master ' s chair in both lodges . He svas made a Royal Arch Mason in Oxford and Cambridge University Chapter in

1882 , and became M . E . Z . in 18 93 . Bro . Preston is a Life Governor of the Benevolent Institution and a Life Subscriber of the Girls' and Boys' Schools .
