No . 131 , Truro , having served in the chair in 1868 and 18 7 8 , and was appointed to the important office of Prov . G . Sec . so far back as 1870 . In that year he started the " Masonic Directory " for Cornwall , which is still published , and one of

the best of the kind extant , besides inaugurating a system for utilizing the voting strength of the province in relation to the central Masonic Charities , svhich has been in operation ever since ; the able manager of the votes nosv being Bro . E . A . P . Broad , of Redruth ( P . M . Xo . 450 , P . Prov . G . Treas . ) , sslio has been very successful on behalf of the county .

Bio . Hughan was appointed to the high position of Past S . G . D . by the M . W . Grand Master in 18 74 , in appreciation of his great literary services to the Craft , besides being a P . Prov . S . G . W . of Cornwall and Past S . G . W . of several Foreign Grand Lodges .

The present Prov . G . Sec . is Bro . Bernard F . Edyvean , P . M . Xo . 330 , Bodmin ( in 1887 ) , who is a very enthusiastic

and capable Craftsman , belonging to a thorough Masonic family . His father ( the late Mayor Edyvean ) was an esteemed P . M . of the same lodge , and served as Prov . G . S . B . so far back as 18 57 , his two brothers being also members , viz ., Bro . Robert P . Edyvean ( P . M . in 1888 ) , Prov . S . G . W . of Cornwall in 1901 , and Lieut .-Col . Frederick G .

Edyvean , P . M . Xo . 2655 , Prov . S . G . W . of Devon in 18 99 . The respected Prov . G . Sec . was P . Prov . S . G . W . of the Province , to which he is so devoted , in 1891 , and has been its indefatigable Prov . G . Sec . from 18 9 8 , in succession to the lamented Bro . E . D . Andeiton , P . G . D ., besides having served

as Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies of England in 18 9 8 , and for ses-eral years also made an excellent manager of the central Masonic votes .

The Treasurer of the Cornwall Masonic Annuity and Benevolent Fund lias long been Bro . E . M . Milford , P . M . Xo . 5 8 9 ( in 1874 and 1888 ) , and Prov . S . G . W . in 1889 , whose initiation dates from 1870 . H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught , M . W . G . M ., appointed Bro . Milford to the Past rank of A . G . D . of C . of England , during this the Coronation year . Of the

valuable and most useful " Cornwall Masonic Charity Association , " Bro . Gilbert B . Pearce ( P . M . Xo . 450 , Hayle , in 1877 and 1879 , Prov . S . G . W . of Cornwall in 1897 ) , has been the most efficient Secretary and practically the founder from its start . He lias been the means of raising very large sums for the Central Masonic Charities through its agency , his interesting reports being quite a special feature of each Prov . Grand
