Comp . W . J . Walsham , H ., and Comp . J . E . Lane , J ., also replied . The M . E . Z . proposed the toast of " The Visitors , " Avhich Avas responded to by Comp . Leyden , M . E . Z . No . 5 , AVIIO expressed the appreciation of till the visitors of the ceremony they had Avitnessed , and believed that this , the first medical

chapter , Avould fill a long felt Avant in the Order . The M . E . Z ., proposing the toast of "The Officers , " felt confident that he had a splendid staff . He could not give the life-history of each , but he could say that Comp . Probyn-WilliamsScribe E ., Avas the most energetic man he had ever

, come across . He had devoted a vast amount of zeal and labour in founding the IICAV chapter , and that Avithout the close application Avhich he had given to it , it could never have been so thoroughly successful . He tendered him , on

behalf of all the founders , his most sincere thanks . In their Treasurer , Comp . Burns , P . G . Std . Br ., they had a Mason of repute , AVIIO Avas first Master of the Middlesex Hospital Lodge . In Comp . C-Carter Braine they had an excellent Mason , and till their officers Avere full of zeal . Every hospital lodge Avas represented among them .

The toast Avas responded to by Comp . R . J . Probyn-Williams , Scribe E . He considered the consecration of a medical chapter both of interest and importance . Although the hospital lodges Avere already many in number , another Avas shortly to be consecrated , and he thought it an excellent

idea to link all these lodges together in one harmonious Royal Arch chapter . The Janitor's toast brought a most enjoyable evening to a close .

THE consecration of this chapter , Avhich is attached to the Upton Lodge , took place on Wednesday , June ioth , at the Hotel Cecil . The ceremony AA'as performed by Comp . Sir Echvard LetcliAvorth , Grand Scribe E ., assisted by Comps . Walter S . Whitaker , P . A . G . D . C , as H . ; the Rev . Canon BrOAvnrigg , Grand Superintendent for Bucks , as J . ;

and Major T . C . Walls , P . D . G . D . C , as D . C . At the corncompletion of the ceremony of consecration , Comps . John Wm . Stevens , P . Z ., Avas installed as M . E . Z . ; William Robert Barr , P . Z ., H . ; the Rev . James Beeby , P . Z ., J . ; and the other officers were elected and invested as follows : —Comps .

William Henry Stocks , Scribe E . ; Henry Hyde , Scribe N . ; Echvard James Gairdner , Treasurer ; Walter James Carroll , P . S . ; Alfred Barnard Noble , ist A . S . ; Joshua Colin , 2 nd A . S . ; Samuel Toye , P . Z ., D . C . ; George Yeoman , Steward ; and John Gilbert , Janitor .

The Consecrating Officers were unanimously elected honorary members , and the M . E . Z ., on behalf of the founders , presented each with a very handsome silver chased spoon in a leather case , for Avhich Comp . Sir Echvard Letchworth , on behalf of himself and his colleagues , returned thanks and expressed their appreciation for both that and their honorary

membership . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts Avere duly honoured . In proposing the toast of " The Grand Ollicers , " the M . E . Z . expressed their appreciation of the presence of such a large number , including among them such well'known Masons as

Comps . H . Lovegrove , J . W . Burgess , F . A . Powell , C . J . R . Tijoti , whose work in the Order Avas Avell known , and AVIIO AA'as an example to all of how things should be clone . Comp . H . Lovegrove , in reply , said the Grand Officers were pleased to have been present to Avitness the Consecration
