one who may fairly claim to be the father of Masonry in South Australia . The eminent brother referred to is the Hon . Sir James Penn Boucaut , K . C . M . He has been three times Premier of the land of the colony , the lirst time in 1866 .

Our venerated brother has been an active member of the Duke of Leinster Lodge , Irish Constitution , during nearly fifty years , the greater part of that long period as Deputy Provincial Grand Master . Very prominently , too , has been his connection with the chapter and Mark lodge , still attached to the Duke ol Leinster Lodge , and since 1858 he lias been a member of the Percy Preceplorv of Knights Templar , which was opened in that vear in Adelaide , under warrant of the then " Baldwin "

his jurisdiction , coincidentlv with the graii ' . ing of a warrant for the opening of a preceptory at Fremanlle , in the latter colony , and it is onl y recently that another preceptory was chartered under his sway at Broken Hill . Add to all this . Sir f . B . Boucaut was one of the founders of ( he Alfred

All else requiring to be observed in connection with South
